"I placed an order 6/21 which was shipped 6/30. I had my order shipped to the hot topic closest to me. Up to now I still haven't received my order, it has already been over a month. They said they'd send me an email once it reached the store. According to their policy it can take up to 14 business days, which have already passed. I spoke with customer service over the phone, polite but they were no help, basically stated exactly what was on the email that the order had shipped and it would take up to 14 business days. I checked tracking but no information available, stated the order is "in process." I tried calling the store to see if they had my package, they just hung up on me. I usually don't make a fuss about things like this, but I online shop and I've never had this kind of experience even with packages overseas. I emailed customer service about the situation, still waiting for a response. Never shopping on hot topic online ever again."
Customer Service is a joke
"Tried to place an order 2 1/2 weeks ago. They were having some good deals, but as soon as I entered more than $30 worth of merchandise into my cart, the deals were wiped out $15 was deducted from my total. I did not enter any promo codes. Called customer service. They were absolutely useless and very frustrating. Ended up having to split my order in 2, losing my HotCash. A week later, I received 2 emails stating my orders had shipped. The next day, I received an email saying that one of my orders was ready for pickup. No word on the other order. I have called twice now to see what is going on with the second order. The 1st time, they told me it should be in the store the next day. I called again today (6 days later) and they said they have no tracking and cannot tell me when the order will arrive. I would suggest that if you need to receive something within a reasonable amount of time, avoid HotTopic.com. Go to the physical store or order it elsewhere."
"These guys have no customer loyalty, I've been shopping there for years and most of my clothes and everyday items, were from you guys. Been shopping at the same location for 4 years too. But I never return anything so I didn't read the fine print of the receipt for tags being attached to returns. No one was willing to help me out, even though i had the tags and receipt with me. and I've spent thousands with you guys and was in the process of buying more. I recently lost a lot of weight and need so many new clothes, I won't be getting them with you guys."
Terrible customer service
"I placed an order on Easter, my daughter informed me that she wanted to switch out one of the three shirts we bought with another item. I called early Monday morning to modify the item for a similar item of the same price. They informed me it was too late, I would have had to have modified within one hour of purchase. They are not shipping my items for ten days...they are clearly unwilling to do right by their customers, the items are not even packaged. I wasn't even trying to get a refund! I spend tons of money in store for my daughter but intend to never shop there again. I will be out the shipping but plan to return everything and never return. I would have understood if the items were on their way, but it was clear they did not even attempt to even try and help me. Reps were pleasant but completely non-effective."
" I don't even know where to begin… I ordered a specifically themed Queen size sheet set for a good friend 3 1/2 weeks ago… Since that time I have been told that it was on backorder, that it had been shipped and most recently that they were sending me an entirely different product instead… A comforter set… I just don't even understand where any of this is OK… The only compensation I was offered was a 25% off my next purchase coupon… I am so over this place… Horrible customer service… "
Received the wrong item, didn't get a refund
"Ordered a figurine from their website and received the completely wrong item. Asked if I could get it replaced or refunded but nothing was done about it, so now I'm stuck with an item I didn't want."
They deserve to go under...
"Either they need to fix their online inventory or they cancel orders to void coupon codes and free shipping discounts. Shady business practice. Customer service needs to follow-through on their cases but instead they pass a claim along so one is forced to explain their case multiple times. Their in-store staff need to be trained to mark items as having been picked up. This company needs to go down."
WORST Customer Service EVER
"NEVER purchase from their online store. I ordered 4 items online & I used a coupon. About 3 hours after I ordered these items, I noticed emails from hottopic.com telling me that 2 items were "sold out." Thus, charging full price for the remaining 2 because this negated my coupon. So I called when I got off of work that day. The customer service person told me orders can only be canceled within an hour of the initial order. After some back & forth, he told me that he could cancel it after all & that I would receive a confirmation email. Two days later with no confirmation email to speak of, I get a notice that a third item (out of four) was now "out of stock." I called for the second time and was informed that my order was NEVER canceled & I still could not cancel it. So I was LIED to. LIED to. And there is no manager or loyalty department. You're stuck with the person that answers the phone. Now I'm stuck paying full price and shipping for one thing that I tried to cancel twice. NEVER AGAIN!!!! "
"Ordered jacket for Christmas present. Guess what, 30th December, not arrived. Was told delivery up to 20 working days, then it was changed to 30 working days. No tracking available. Have emailed merchant and the carriers. Been told that I have to wait until 10 days after the delivery date before investigation can take place. Don't know my delivery date. This item was shipped on 29th November. 21 working days since dispatch, goodness knows how long to delivery. I think it is on a world cruise. I have no option but to sit and wait for delivery with not a lot of hope!"
"I ordered items for Christmas..when I was ready to checkout the sale prices did not come up..was being charged regular price..called to fix it..place the order over the phone..had to spell EVERYTHING.because the person did not understand english..kept telling me my card was invalid..gave it to him 5 times until he finally got it right..gave him the shipping address 5 times..got an email showing the wrong address..called again asked for a supervisor never spoke to one..the guy said he changed the address..got an email today Monday the 12th.address was not changed and the order still has not shipped..and now items are being canceled from my order..I will never order from them again.."
Bad service, low quality merchandise
"Hot Topic store, Ridgedale Shopping center, Minneapolis.Purchased a Tee for my daughter, size Small, for cash.Did not keep receipt. The size turned out to be wrong, not surprising as the size means nothing in those tees. A week later on October 23rd, 2016 I went back to the shop to ask if they can swap Small size for Medium size. The tee mind you is still unworn, with original tag on it, with Hot Topic written on it. The shop girl refused on the ground that computer will take it.Avoid this shop with low quality merchandise and idiotic staff."
"I was on the phone for 80 minutes over what i thought was a small issue. I had placed an online order for two items totaling 32.89. I chose shipping that would get it here in time for a birthday (these items i purchased were presents). I recieved only half of my order, but per my bank account I was charged for the entire order. I never received an email that the item was out of stock or that it wouldn't be shipped. In fact, I got an email that said my order was on its' way with no problems and I even got a tracking number. I called Hot Topic to either get refunded for the part of the order that wasn't there or for them to ship it immediately. I wAs on the phone for 20 minutes with a man named Ivan who was so rude to me. He continually interrupted me and told me he didn't believe that the bank really charged me that much and that I was lying and told me I'd have to resolve the problem myself. I asked to speak to someone else and he told me his supervisor isn't really available because she's busy. I told him they owed me money and this wasnt a joking matter and that I needed to be transferred to a supervisor. He eventually transferred me to a supervisor. I was on hold for 32 minutes before the "supervisor" picked up the phone and immediately hung up. I called back again, this time very angry, and Ivan didn't remember who I was or my order even though I had just spoke to him for 20 minutes. I told him the problem again and he said he would first explain and then connect me to his supervisor again. His "explanation" consisted of 30 more minutes of yelling and interrupting and never connecting me to his supervisor. He then transferred me to someone else mid-sentence and I had no idea what was going on. A representative picked up who was able to help me in literally 90 seconds. So that man, that representative receives 3 stars for quickly fixing my problem, and I thank him; although I do believe I should've been offered the item for free or to be immediately reshipped. But Ivan and your supervisor, that was horrendous and if I could give you zero stars I would. "
"I see that all of these reviews are about the online store. How about, you just go to the actual store? There's no idiots there. :) For the online store, I never get the e-mails about my package, so once I order it, I just have to sit back and wait for it to come. I'm expected to track it if it takes FOREVER to get here. How the hell do I track it with NO ORDER NUMBER?!"
They Don't care or know the value of their own products!
"The packaging is ridiculous! Considering this a department store that is famous to do such a poor job at packaging your products. I thought Aliexpress was bad, but didnt expect Hottopics the same. They cramped my boxes together and bent them. And some of them were exclusive and valuable , but only with a mint box. Someone must have been in a rush and didnt care. Even a kid could have done better. I literally took the whole package out and repackaged it without any problems at all. And no, it wasnt damaged from shipping and handling, it was damaged because of poor packaging! 1st impression when opened the box was like "uh...reallly..?" "
Company is full of ****.
"NO STARS....Placed an order and had a coupon, will not combine sale price with coupon i earned which is beyond stupid!... Called back an hour later and said they could not cancel... i asked why and he could not give me an explanation except the order cannot be canceled. What do you mean it cannot be canceled. The order was just placed and it has not shipped out. I am in the business like theirs so i know how orders get processed and they ABSOLUTELY DO NOT move that fast and out the door it is.... so this was my first and last order with them!!! FYI i still will be returning the item in store so i really don't get what was so hard about canceling my order....."
