I ordered an orchid for Mother's Day May 2011 and paid a premium of 30USD for air shipping. It did not arrive as promised and the following Monday when it did show-up the orchid was almost dead. This retailer refused to send the exact replacement. After two days with several phone calls and email exchanges, they still have not resolved this problem. Now, I want them to refund my money of over 100USD and they have not done anything about it. They did not return my phone calls either. Use them at your own risk."

"Order was placed on a Sunday with extra Priority Shipping costs and Next Day Delivery Guarantee. On Monday evening, we called asking about our order. We were told they do not ship on Sundays and that we should receive our order on Tuesday. We did not. Called Tuesday evening asking for a refund. Received and email from Steve (the owner) saying that the order being late was our "opinion" and he insisted on sending us the tracking information. On Wednesday afternoon, we still had not received the order. We called insisting on a refund, which he promised we would receive on Wednesday once the order was refused (which it was later that afternoon). We called to let him know of the refusal and to confirm the refund. Thursday came with no refund. Friday came with no refund. Even allowing for his bank and our bank to take time transferring funds, this was ridiculous. Called him Saturday evening about the refund, which he initiated 10 minutes after my call.
I have never in my life been so insulted by a vendor. Steve questioned my relationship with my fiance saying there must be a problem between us as the reason we did not want his undelivered orchid. He lied to us repeatedly about when the order was sent, when he would initiate a refund, and when he actually submitted the information for a refund. This does not include his attitude and his refusal to believe there are any problems on his end. I was shocked and appalled and will never have anything to do with Steve's website or business save for leaving honest reviews and a lengthy letter to the Better Business Bureau."

I ordered a orchid for my sister on Dec 27th and paid for 2nd day air. After waiting 2 weeks I called and was told Oh sorry we'll ship it out next day air she'll have it tomorrow. Well the next day SHOCKING still no flower. I call them back and they tell me. "We're having a problem with fed ex and our accounts, we'll issue you a credit and you'll have it within 24 hours". "Philip is a liar ans swindler. He pretended to be various people a the "company" and advised me to cancel my order when I called to complain it was late.
Then he charged me and shipped an orchid 8 days later.
I called to dispute the claim. He (pretending not to be Philip) told me to put the complaint in writing, which I did.
I received and automated emailing saying they would respond in 24 hours.
They did not and after calling again, (he pretended to never have heard of my complaint before)he told me to ship the orchid back and then he would refund!

When I called I was told I would receive a full credit to my card. Ten days later he still does not have the orchid and I do not have the credit to my card. "I am not one to write reviews, but I wanted to WARN you not to use this company. I phoned the company to ask more questions after I found just the orchids I wanted on their website. They shipped them a day later than promised and the quality was HORRIBLE!! The red mokara orchids were a dark purplish-burgundy and did not go at all with the true red of the other flowers I was using. When I called to complain, Steve kept telling me they were red and that I should just hold them in the right light. He refused to refund any of my order or send the correct orchids(the jade green orchids were just fine, by the way) and asked why I didn't just trust that the flowers would go with my theme! To make matters worse, EVERY ONE of the blooms fell off the stems (I bought 30 stems, so that's a lot of blooms) in less than 24 hours from delivery. RUN!!!! "

"I ordered an orchid plant from this website on 4/29 after spending quite some time going through all the pictures and picking the one that I want. This was for my mother in law for Mother's Day. My indicated delivery date was 5/9.
On 5/10, my father in law sends me an email to thank me, he attached pictures of the orchid that they received at home. It was not what I ordered.
On 5/11, I write an email to 1888orchid.com to bring this issue to their attention. NO REPLY.
On 5/12, I write again on the same issue. Here's the reply: We sent an orchid of greater value than the one you ordered since the orchid you ordered was no longer available. The orchid we sent sells for $129.95 and is one of our more rare orchids - I believe it is Lovely Bunny "Juliet" We cannot offer a replacement for this orchid. We sent this orchid to have something there for mother's day...Phillip

On 5/14, I write back to ask why was I not notified my choice was not available, why a replacement was sent without my knowledge, why do they not know exactly what was shipped, why was the basket that I ordered and paid for was not included in the shipment, and to point out to them that the replacement they sent was either EQUAL TO or of LESS VALUE than what I ordered, NOT of more value, like they said. All the prices are on their website and is public information for anyone to look up. NO REPLY.
On 5/19, resend 5/14 email. NO REPLY
On 5/21, resend 5/14 email again. Mentioned that I was going to dispute charges if still no answer. NO REPLY.
On 5/26, I filed a dispute on PayPal. Immediately, this is the reply I get on my personal email:

"On May 2, 2008, I ordered 2 orchid plants with overnight shipping to my Mom for delivery on May 7. She was going to be out of town at the end of the week and I wanted her to see them at her office before she left, for Mother's Day.
I placed the order, with overnight shipping, for a total of $224.73.
I received a shipping notification from UPS that the plants had been submitted for shipping. On May 7th. Not for delivery on May 7th. Also, the products were shipped UPS Ground, not Overnight, as I ordered (and paid $29.95 for).
I called at 4:15am upon receipt of this shipping notification and spoke to Philip. I was concerned to say the least. I asked why no one had bothered to call me to tell me the shipment would be late, and asked why it was. Philip said, "We're really busy. Sorry."
I asked where the plants were shipping from. He told me they were shipping from Vista, CA. I thought that was pretty funny (NOT REALLY), that I had paid $29.95 for Overnight shipping & delivery (and ON-TIME SHIPPING & DELIVERY), to the same city. I asked if they could just DELIVER THE PLANTS (ie: drive them over to my Mom's office, since they screwed up, and also since the address I now see listed on their website is less than 6 miles away from my Mom's company). Philip said no, but he would credit the shipping.
It's now May 8th, and I have not received a shipping credit.
My Mom also received her shipment today - ONE PLANT, NOT TWO, AS ORDERED.
I called these jerks several times before their posted closing time of 6pm - their voicemail picked up. Surprise, their voicemail box is FULL (I imagine it's full of complaints). I emailed them and have not received a response yet.
I am now going down to Vista tomorrow specifically to see what made its way to my Mom's office. Although she will not be there, I will inspect the one plant she did receive. I have already spoken to someone at the office who said it is substandard at best.
These people are going to have to issue a call tag to pick this plant up, as a start, because I am not paying for their terrible attitude toward me as a customer, nor for their crappy service.
I am issuing a chargeback through my bank tomorrow, first thing. This will not stand with me, as I am an avid orchid buyer, both for myself and as gifts for those I love.
I am disabled and this undertaking to Vista tomorrow is a real inconvenience, and I am furious that these people have been allowed to be in business as long as they have with all the horror stories about them.
I n addition to initiating the chargeback tomorrow, I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, as well as seeking steps to contact the Merchant Account for 1888Orchids.com since I believe I have been defrauded at the very least, and that it is a common practice for these people, and that they have no intention of keeping their word to me as a valued customer, which is not only exhibited by their heinous actions, but also by their lie of crediting my account.
Do yourself a favor - stay far away from this company and everyone who works for it."
