"I gave ACI crap for several days for installing the wrong motherboard in the computer system (described below) I purchased from them. Turns out ACI did not install the wrong motherboard after all. Seems ABIT (motherboard mfg.) does not label their motherboards consistently. In addition, I had a second party RAID controller in my system that caused the OS (and me) not to see the motherboard RAID controller which made me believe that the motherboard had no RAID controller. These two errors combined cause the misunderstanding.
Thus, I am the idiot, not ACI. To ACI’s credit, they called me several times and apologized for a mistake they did not make. In addition, ACI shipped me a new motherboard at their expense. In fact, ACI did just about everything reasonable to correct the non-problem even though I was being a bit of a prick.
Final review of ACI – trustworthy company that sells a good product at a good price and ACI will go to the extra mile to assure customer satisfaction – purchase from ACI with confidence.
------------------------------
As noted below in the itemized list of the components for the system I ordered from ACI, the motherboard for my system was suppose to be an ABit IC7-G motherboard.
On 8/18/2003 I was examining the inside of my system (due to a Abit motherboard "chipset" fan issue) and noted that the motherboard was an ABit IC7 motherboard, not an ABIT IC7-G motherboard. I had not noticed this earlier because I was not using the motherboard RAID controller, which is one of the major differences between the two boards. (see www.abit.com.tw for description of the two motherboards).
Interestingly, the motherboard box that was shipped with the system was for an ABIT IC7-G motherboard; the motherboard manual was for an IC7-G motherboard; but the motherboard actually installed in the system was an IC7. The IC7 motherboard cost about $100 less than the IC7-G motherboard.
I called ACI and they agreed, with very little hassle, to ship me an IC7-G motherboard at no cost to me. I agreed to swap the motherboards and ship the IC7 back to them.
I will update this review when I have more info on this issue to report.
--------------------------------------
I ordered the system described below on 7/20/2003. The system was shipped on (8/05/2003) and I received the system on 8/08/2003.
ACI assembled the system and such assembly was professionally done.
I have tested the computer thoroughly (at least the features that I use) and the results are quite good. One caveat is that the 3.3 Volt DC supply (which is supplied by the 350 watt system power supply) is close to being out of specification (not an ACI issue, a power supply manufacturer issue).
The only downside to purchasing from ACI that I see is the long wait between ordering a system and receiving such system.

"BUYER BEWARE !!!! I purchased a barebones kit from this company in feburary . I received in a timely mannor but the motherboard was defective on this kit . I had a hard time getting thru on the phone and when I did they werent very helpful . They had told me a few things to check to make sure it was the motherboard so I spent a few days doing that before I was able to reach them again . Finally they gave me an rma # to return the motherboard and processor to them . Which I had to pay shipping on . They told me at this time that as soon as they received the defective one , they would return my replacement within 1 to 2 days . HAHAHHAA that was a laugh ....now I can hardly reach them and when I do they say we had to send your motherboard back to the manufacture and we dont know when you will receive one . I said to them why cant u send me one ???? Im sure u have them there . They had the nerve so say they have none in stock . You can go right the their website and order the same one I ordered . Its the abit kd7 raid . I wish I had never bought from them . At this point I dont even know if Im gonna get one back period . Wish I had known about this site before I bought from them because I definetly wont be purchasing anything from them again !!!! I hope this prevents someone else from having to go thru this . This company has very bad business practices . They have my money , plus a motherboard and processor and cant tell me when I'll receive my replacement . Thats just bs !!!!!! omg after reading about all the other sites and names and mailing addresses of this company I doubt I ever see my money or the motherboard and processor . Do a search on acompinc that is another one of their sites but the same people . I have also filed a complaint with the better business beauro. Dont imagine I'll see anything though if u read the comments about them under the acompinc name . Seems they just change names to deceive more people . This mistake costed me 170 bucks . Hope this helps someone out there !!!!!"
"When I went to purchase a barebones system from this company they tried to tell me the fan was just temp and to add one it would be 15 more dollars. I told them no, and just to send the system. The system arrived in a decent about of time, only 1 1/2 weeks which is not horrible but not great either. Then the trouble started. The machien would not work, so I tried to call tech support all day long for 2 days during their posted times and could not get through til almost time for them to close. The guy was rather rude to me, and just after argueing with him for a while we decided it was the power supply that was out. I sent it back, and they sent another. It took 2 weeks to arrive. From then on I have had a little trouble with the mobo in the machine. However, it is just to stressful to try and get tech support again so I just deal with it. This company is ok about getting you the product, but if you want tech support I suggest go elsewhere."
"Works great!

Purchased a barebones unit configured the way I wanted it. Came in good time (today). Haven't had a chance to test it yet. (I'm still at work). Apparently they also do business under the website www.acompinc.com as well (also listed on resellerratings.com). If I would have read the feedback before I ordered, I may not have ordered."
"I just ordered a barebone system from them yesterday. They had one for 204.04(includes shipping) Hope I didn't f*uckup trusting in them. By the way I ordered under their NewGenPc name. http://www.cleveland.bbb.org/nis/newsearch1.asp This is the page for BBB in Cleavland if you want to check them out there. Doesn't look good. Wish me luck!"
"I wouldn't recommend this company. I've tried to purchase from them based on an advertised price they have, but everytime you try to order it, it magically is out of stock....try back tomorrow....you try then and they just 'ran out of stock and hour ago'. They appear to be advertising to get you in the door, but they will not sell you the advertised product -- or at least they wouldn't to me. I'm giving up after 3 days of trying to purchase from them."
"i was just gconsidering buying from here for a MB/cpu combo and found that its owned by the same ppl who own/run AVApc and MGElectronics... nothing wrong with that but both of those have some bad feedback only. "
