"As a retail department manager, I get it: Yes, you pack your own bags; Yes, you need to bring a quarter for the cart (which is returned when you replace the cart); Yes, it's a warehouse style set-up; No, there isn't a lot of staff on hand; Yes, the store hours are limited.
As *should* be expected, to keep pricing down, security measures are taken (quarter for a cart), all items are loosely displayed (merchandising takes time which = $), staffing is limited and always busy *making sure that what is available is shelved, but that does not reduce their ability to be courtious. The store hours also reflect the low cost of their products.
Product is replaced on a scheduled basis, so get to know the store and be there when the items you want are scheduled to be there. Produce is seasonal which also reflects low pricing.
Convenience has a price; being responsible enough to understand this will save you money and at the same time give you excellent product from which to choose."
"ALDI's carries the top 25% of grocery items you buy every day and most items are their own brand which is as good as or better than other good store brands. I used to shop at Costco but I actualljust went to both and paid 50% less on the same items from ALDI. They have a small footprint so less walking around. They carry organic and imported items, canned fresh and frozen goods. You can't go wrong. Just bring your own shopping bags because they charge for them and a quarter to unlock a shopping cart. "

"I had purchased an Aldi K-Fee coffee capsule machine, they had a very good Chocolate capsules.
A while ago I went to buy some more capsules, I could not get my usual, they had replaced it with a new RICH Hot Chocolate capsule.
As far as my taste buds can tell the old capsule had about twice the flavor of the new "RICH" capsule.
What a rip off, silly me for thinking Aldi would not try and diddle me by cheapening their product, re-branding it and hoping I would not notice.
I know it's all the rage in the business world these days, I had a silly notion that Aldi was above such practices."
"A great place to but canned goods and staples. Laid out like a warehouse store, but you buy individual packages, instead of Costco or Sam's Club quantities. Prices are well below supermarket levels. Selection is limited , mostly to in-house labels whose quality matches the more expensive advertised brands. Checkouts are fairly fast, but you have to pack the bags yourself, and pay for the bags if you don't bring your own. Produce is limited; of decent quality when fresh, but not handled as well as in a good supermarket. Weekly special purchases of non-grocery items of good quality and low cost. Aldi doesn't take credit cards, but debit cards are accepted."
