"I ordered this two weeks ago.. I was planning on buying the actual manual from another site, but saw I could get an e-copy from AG Tannenbaum so I did b/c I needed it as quickly as possible. The only thing that arrived quickly was the notification that they'd charged my Credit card..it showed up immediately... no info of when I might be getting the document. I sent an email the next day asking and afte a few days was told I would receive it in a couple more days.. huh? I responded with my need for it quickly... only heard crickets for the next 111 days.. incredible. worse than horrible service. If you wait for an order to scan a document (which I'm assuming was the big hold up here).. do it as soon as you get the order.. if you are weeks and weeks behind then say so so someone doesn't get stuck like I did. If i'd have known AG was still using a yahoo account for doing business I would have gone with one of the other companies that is doing the same thing."
"Perfectly clear PDF print of a difficult military technical manual. Clear concise information accessible from almost every page visited about terms and conditions. Clear information about address and phone numbers and hours of operation. Have purchased over a dozen manuals over the past 3 years and every experience was an A+++ buyers experience. Multiple orders over past 4 years from 2007 to 2011"
"Summary: I got a manual that was in NOT in the form I expected and it was not scanned/printed in a way that made the diagrams readable. When I complained about this I got ignored for a while and then blown off by a defensive guy. I say STAY AWAY! I eventually got a much better copy of the manual for less from a much better source (see below). A.G. Tannenbaum was a $26 lesson for me. Read on if you want all the details...
I visited their website and noticed that they had a manual for my receiver, but it wasn't clear what type of manual it was, so I sent an email and got no reply. I went back to the site several times over the next few days and eventually found a key to manual types that let me know that they were selling a service manual, which is what I wanted. I saw no indication of the form the manual was to be delivered in. There was no qualification about it being a scanned PDF file; they just listed a service manual and so I concluded it was an original manual. I ordered it. The electronic receipt said something about manuals printed by USMail, which got me wondering if maybe I had purchased a scanned and copied manual. I decided that if that was it, and it was readable and usable, I would accept it.
The manual arrived quickly and it was clearly a black and white copy that was partly useful, but many of the diagrams were unintelligable simply because the original was color. Those diagrams were just not useful because of this.
I went back to the Tannenbaum website to see what their policies were. Admittedly, I should have checked all this out before, and I was a bit rushed, being convinced I could get an original service manual. As it turns out, there was NO CONTACT INFORMATION on their website. No name, address, phone, or even an email address. There was only a form you can fill in with your phone and press submit. It turns out that the package they sent had no return address either (just a barcode), which leads me to wonder if they are paranoid about giving out their address. I did manage to find a comment about refunds on the site, but it was not where you would expect. The "About" page had a buried comment like "there will be no refunds for obvious reasons."
(Note: after writing this review, I found that they NOW have more contact information on the site, including address and phone.)
At this point I was getting a picture of the kind of people I was dealing with and did not expect that they would happily give me any money back, but I was going to express my concerns anyway, and sent them my phone number through the website. No response. I did it again. No response again. There was an email confirmation of the order, so I used that email address to request contact, saying "problem with order". Terry called me and left a message. I called back but no one answered or called me back that day. Then I sent an email with my concerns, being careful not to be insulting or demanding. I simply stated how I had thought that I was getting an original manual, not a PDF copy, and that many of the diagrams were unreadable.
I got a response from Terry that told me two things: he had spent all morning composing his long email response, and that he saw this as a win-lose situation which he was very determined to win. In other words, he was very dismissive and defensive. He probably sees any complaint as someone trying to get a free manual. He would not consider that his website needed improvements. He would not consider the possbility that the manual he sent might have problems. His email was filled with comments like "we have been doing this for 15 years and no one else has ever complained about..." Of course it doesn't matter what experiences other customers have had; if my manual was defective, he needs to address that. His approach was to deny the obvious, claiming what he had sent me was completely readable.
It seems likely that he doesn't even have the original manual, instead he just has a PDF file that he prints out for $20. I did eventually go to another seller of manuals (Vintage Audio Manuals), got the service manual for my receiver, and am completely happy with it because it was scanned, printed correctly (in color), and even bound. It also cost me less!"
