First you charged my credit card 3 times for the same purchase. Over a period of 3 days, 2 of the charges came off but you had my money for that period of time. When I received my purchase the size and width was not correct. I am returning these to the store and making the purchase from the store like I should have in the first place. I will NEVER order on line from you again!!"
"Ordered Nike pants online to pick up, when they shopped for me they got the wrong pants, so when I went in to return them they had already sold out of the 2 pair left, went online sold out, so because it’s a week before Christmas had to buy at Dicks and pay 20 more, so bummed! "I have shopped at Academy since the early 1990s as I lived close to the warehouse store in Katy, Texas for several years. They were always a good local sporting goods store for hunting and fishing supplies. However, as an online store, they are terrible. My latest example of this was on Good Friday. They advertise 20% off on fishing reels but pretty much all the popular ones showed to be sold out by the time the sale even started. I still found a model I wanted and placed my order. Now today, the following Tuesday, I get an email stating that the reel I ordered is also out of stock and my order was canceled. I was looking at several different sites for a new reel purchase and chose Academy. Now that order is cancelled and the reels on the other sites are no longer on sale. Not only did Academy cancel my order on a reel they showed to be in stock at the time, but they also cost me the opportunity to purchase a reel from another site while on sale. As a local store Academy is fine but I would avoid doing business with them online. They simply are not set up properly to be a reliable online retailer."
"Bought two items, too big, I sent it back, took a month for them to received? At this time, I already got my bill statement, so I called them, they've said that it still in the warehouse, so I give them a couple days, and called them again, talk to the customer service, said that do not send any payment, cause she took care of that transaction, but I need to call Comenity Bank, which is the Credit Card that I used, then, I called the Comenity Bank and she said that It was refunded, but I have a late fee of $31? so, I am boiling this time! So she took off the late fee, but I still need to pay the $1.17 cause she can't help it, for that, cause that's what I sign up for? If I can easily tell anyone that shops in Academy online, I will tell them, how horrible is my experience!!! Other credit card companies, they'll give me a chance that I can still be their HAPPY, customer, and the customer service, doesn't care that I will close this account, this is the first time I ordered online, and it's f***ed up already!!!! .....oh, she said that make sure that I send the 1.17 payment before April 7th, 2020 otherwise she's gonna charge me again of late fee which is $31 I will never ever give business to online Academy!!!!!"
"Ordered a few items for Christmas only to have an item completely missing! Although it showed on the package slip, it was nowhere to be found. Emailed and received a response the next day stating it was short shipped. They asked if I wanted a refund or a replacement so I said a replacement and before Christmas at that. A week goes by before I get ANY kind of response from that and then they say they’ll issue a refund because they no longer have the item in stock. I understand things happen, but where’s the communication? Do they just leave customers out of the loop and do what they want????"
"I ordered a specific item in green, but received it in brown though the packing slip clearly stated that the enclosed item was green. I contacted support via chat and, while the support personnel was pleasant, she was unable to get me the correct item in a timely fashion. She kept trying to find a store where I could go pick up the item, but I needed it shipped to me as the nearest store is a few towns away - and I had paid the $3.99 for shipping for that very reason. I am quite disappointed as I could have ordered elsewhere and that is what I will do in future. "
"I bought two t shirts advertised at 4.99 each, while I was "not close to home"...I noticed the receipt, when I got home, that I had been charged 6.98 each...I called the store, gave them the transaction number, discussed all the details, and they said I had to come in...I'm not making a one hour round trip for a $4 refund, and going forward, I'm not going to look to Academy as my go to store for work out clothes or equipment...Btw, I was in there to buy a work out mat...As a retired retail mgr, this issue could have been solved over the phone...Obviously, it was too much trouble for the associate to walk to the table, check the advertised price, and get back w/me to issue a credit (it was a CC purchase)...#sodisappointedwithacademy!"

"I JUST received my refund for an item I ordered over a month ago (12/14/17 and refunded 1/25/18). I spent more than 3 cumulative hours on the phone with a total of 4 calls to their customer support (they kept telling me I had to call them back). The last call was answered by a smarter-than-you young lady who informed me that my refund had already been issued. It had not and was not until a week later. I will never order from Academy ever again, as there are better places to buy from by far. Also, I've since then been informed that they refuse to aid any charities if they are affiliated with churches. How open-minded and helpful of them, since churches represent 80% of charitable giving worldwide."
"Had a poor experience with shipment of an order and wrote an honest review with just the facts. There was no offensive language used or anything like that and I actually said the product itself was good. Academy staff censored the review and said, "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!" Apparently the only thing that meets their website guidelines is positive reviews. Academy obviously isn't very transparent and didn't even contact me to try and resolve the issue to EARN a better review."
"I was skeptical based on the negative reviews. However the prices were so low that I figured that I'd give it a chance. I ordered soft bait lures (cocahoe minnows of various sizes and colors). Shipping was super fast, arrived way sooner than I expected. So far I am very impressed and fully expect to order more supplies from Academy."
"I ordered a pair of sweat pants on sale for $5. When they were opened instead of being the size small that I ordered they were extra large. I immediately sent them a message and the reply stated it would be 24 to 48 hours for them to respond. It was only after 8 days and a PayPal complaint that I finally received a canned reply. It is going to cost them more to pay for the return than the item costs and will probably take a month to get my money back. If service is this bad for a cheap item I'd never trust them with a high dollar purchase."
"Found this company when looking at prices online, have placed 4 orders with them so far and I'm happy, items arrived on time, no sales tax in CA and I only had to buy $25 to get free S/H but the best part is they have the cheapest price when you compare to Dicks, GanderMountain, basspro, cabelas.
I like this place so much I felt like I need to tell people about it and also as an encouragement to Academy to keep up the good work."
"My wife suggested this a good place to shop as she has been in several of their stores.
I ordered 4 pair of jeans at a great price with free delivery on 4-27 then didn't hear from them after that until I contacted them a few days later. I hadn't received any shipment info. Since this is my first order I was a bit paranoid.
I received info and my tracking number which showed the package to be delivered the next day which was May 2nd.
Overall good enough for me and might probably order from them again. They were all very friendly and had great pricing. "
