"This lousy company not only did not deliver my TV, I only received a portion (70%) of my prepayment. This company should be banned from ever doing business again."
"I wired this company, AVS (Advanced Video Systems) in NY state on 9/16/04. They replied that they received the money and confirmed my order for a Samsung HLNS4365W DLP television set. They said they would contact me when the set shipped. After attempting phone calls and emails I finally heard back from them on 9/29 with the following:
"unfortunately drop ship supplier temporarily ran out
of stock to ship your order.
We apologize but other clients had their orders in before yours and depleted
their stock.
Occasionally this may happen to a model due to exposure of millions of
clients on the internet.
Supplier contact states an ETA of 18 days to ship your Factory Sealed Full
USA Warranty Model"
I asked on 9/30 for a full refund. After numerous attempts to contact them again. I finally heard from them on 10/14 and they said they would issue me a full refund within 30 days. It is now 11/21 and that was the last I heard from them. They do not answer the phone, nor return phone calls nor answer emails.
Their website is: avs-store.com - their email is: ****@****
and I have been dealing with a Howard Knapp.
Their address and phone numbers are listed as:
19 Roots Lane. Owego, NY 13827 ***-***-**** 800-233-2430 Fax: ***-***-****.
If there is any way you can help that would be great. There is another very well documented complaint at: http://home.earthlink.net/~avs_beware/index.htm
Thank you.

"AVS-Store offered an incredible cash price on a brand new in the box Samsung TV. I checked the Upstate NY BBB, who listed a few incidents with them that were resolved satisfactorily. I also visited the Panasonic professional equipment website and they were listed as authorized dealers. Too bad I didn’t find any of these postings, when I was checking them out.
They do not answer their phone, that should have been a clue. Howard Knapp, replied to my E-Mail inquiries, assuring me delivery within 10 days and a full refund if they did not deliver. 9/21/04 I mailed them a check for nearly $3000.00, which they accepted and cashed 9/24/04. They sent an E-Mail saying their shipping dept would contact me with ship information and a receipt would be included with shipment. Then nothing.
When I sent them a note asking the status, Howard Knapp replied 10/1/04 that their drop shipper was temporarily out of stock (other customers ahead of me got their remaining sets) provided an ETA of 14 days. He supplied a list of other products that they had in stock. I told them I would wait for the Samsung I ordered.
The two weeks came and went and E-mail notes were exchanged many times. The last excuse I got 10/21/04 claimed Samsung was having serious problems with the TV and not providing them. It pointed to a thread that discussed some problems on a different model that Samsung had resolved months before. It again (as always) listed a number of high priced alternative products. 10/23/04 I pointed them to solid evidence that debunked those excuses and told them I want the TV they agreed to provide. I have not heard back from Howard Knapp or AVS-Store since. I have sent multiple Emails, left phone messages with no reply. My last note to them told them I would explore alternatives with my attorney. "
"Will not ship ordered product. The worst online store I have worked with to date. Great prices but will not deliver. Would never do business with them again"
"I ordered a Panasonic PT50LC13 DLP Projection TV, using the cash discount option for maximum savings, expecting a quick delivery of the TV. Unfortunately, the product is no longer in stock, and AVS will need to order it from factory (which has multiple delays). (Mind you - I never stated, or asked, if I wanted to be put on the waiting list) After many weeks of getting the run around, I was asked by Howard if I wanted to cancel my order. Guess what? AVS decides that for providing me a "service" they get to keep 10% of your money for providing nothing!
