"Total lack of communication by our travel agent caused qualms about our travel status and a lot of inconvenience in making last minute arrangements on obtaining foreign currencies, PIN numbers for credit cards etc. No literature on hotel accommodations, itinerary details, optional excursions, packing guidance , etc. , etc. were received and were supposed to be in our possession 60-90 days prior to our departure. When we contacted Adam, our travel agent on August 7, he told us that this was because we had not provided emergency contact information. This from a person who had two phone numbers and two e-main addresses of ours and could have contacted us at any time. Adam then told us that we would be in receipt of the documents in seven days, guaranteed, but didn't seem able to do better than that despite time running short. On August 14th, (now another 7 days gone bye and only 16 days before scheduled departure) we tried to contact Adam and found, in talking to other personnel, that not only had we not received the documents vitally needed, they had not even been shipped.
So much for promises and follow-up.
We finally received the documents on August 16 (now only 10 business days from D-day) and the race was on.
As it turned out, we had a great trip, despite Affordable Tours, and would not repeat our experiences with your company, nor recommend you to any one else!"

"I found Affordable Tours on the internet and frankly had some drawbacks about dealing with a firm that I did not personally know. After some background checks, I contacted Affordable Tours and was assigned to Sunny Lewis. From the start, she helped explain the differences among the various tour bus operators and make a selection. After that, her follow up with the payment process, coordination with the selected Tour Operator and documentation was excellent. No question we would use Sunny again and Affordable Tours. "

"Our agent worked hard to get us on a cruise that was almost sold out, including getting an extension on the hold so we could secure other onboard credit from next cruise booking. The room she found was perfect and we had an excellent cruise. I do wish she had suggested we check out cruise line RCI air arrangements. We did eventually use them but prices went up after I initially checked. I had booked elsewhere but was within the 24 hr cancellation period and wanted to double check that I could cancel the first flight before I booked with RCI. In the meantime the flight had gone up $50 each. We will continue to use Affordable Tours. "

"My sister and I booked our very first international tour, the Insight Vacations/Italian Escapades 2017 in May. We had never been on a tour like this before and this one covered so many of the sites we wanted to see. It was our first time in Italy as well although both of us have travelled internationally several times before. I can only say that we were not disappointed. The tour was upscale and very thorough. I am a history buff and seeing the ancient sites with such expert commentary please me very much. I actually knew what I was looking at. The hotels were upscale boutique hotels (not chains) which were modern, clean and had excellent locations for shopping and for views. None of them were disappointments.
Our tour director, Caroline Pugsley, was a veteran of 28 years in the tour guide industry, describing everything in her posh English accent and able to switch flawlessly into fluent Italian. She was so very well organized and sensitive to everyone's needs while maintaining a view to the needs of the whole group. She was friendly and professional, a combination which is difficult to find. I would tour with her again. She advised us how to negotiate each venue and prepared everyone for the greatest enjoyment of each site.
The sites covered on this tour gave us an accurate picture of Italy's beauty, geography and history, both ancient and modern. Italy is larger than I had originally thought and so delightful. Perhaps the only con of this tour lies in the fact that it covers so much of Italy that there is little time to relax. It is a fast-paced tour and taking advantage of every optional experience means the only napping is on the bus between venues. Seniors like me need to be in good physical shape and able to walk up to 15,000 steps per day. (Taxis are available for difficult terrain.) My sister and I are in our 60's and were ready for an early lights out each night. Our next tour would likely cover less ground and give more time in each venue, but we would not trade our priceless Italian Escapades 2017 for any other. It gives what it promises. Insight Vacations has great transportation equipment and has Italy "down" to each detail. It is so nice to be able to see the venues and return to a luxury bus. There were less than 40 people on our tour which made stops so much less complicated for everyone. The folks touring with us were a lovely mix of personalities and backgrounds which broadened our cultural experience as well. The bond that developed among the travelers will survive for years to come. If you go with Insight , you will come away pleasingly full of memories to share.."
