"This was our first Tauck tour. We picked Tauck based on the rave reviews the company got from friends and family. Our experience more than lived up to all that. Our travel was well-organized and well-paced. The hotels in each city were perfectly located, very, very classy and extremely comfortable. Our tour director was experienced (13 years with Tauck), knowledgeable and full of good stories and good humor. The background she offered each day was supplemented at every site by a local guide who was deeply informed and more than ready to answer questions, no matter how stupid!
Tauck really holds your hand every step of the way. In Venice, we were met at the airport and our luggage immediately taken from us. We were escorted to a water taxi which took us to our hotel (right on the Grand Canal and just off St. Mark's Square. Our luggage was in our rooms when we got there. That same care followed through during the rest of our trip -- luggage picked up from our room in one city to appear in our room in the next. We traveled in June, a very tourist-heavy season. Thanks to Tauck, we had minimal wait times at the most popular sites (i.e., Ufizzi Gallery, St. Peter's, Vatican Museum, etc.) and some of these visits were after-hours and Tauck-only.
Tauck was remarkable in how it helped us prepare for our trip. A booklet arrived well ahead of time with tips for packing and helpful background regarding currency, weather, what-ifs, etc.
We booked our trip with Affordable Tours. Our agent, Yulanda Hanson, could not have been nicer or more competent and was always available. She has traveled with Tauck and had good advice. She also secured, as best she could, good airline seats for us on the major legs of our trip.
We elected to stay an extra day in Rome (our last city). We expect to take a European river cruise for our next trip and we plan to arrive at least one day ahead. The overnight travel going out was pretty sleepless so we want the extra night to catch up.

"Booked tour to Alaska on a Thursday and got an email that asked me to confirm. I did that, and on Friday booked the air travel portion. Then on Saturday, the agent sent an email asking me to hold off booking air travel because the accommodations weren't confirmed. He said that he mentioned that he would have to check on these in our phone discussions on Thursday, but I assumed that since he charged my credit card and asked for my confirmation that this was settled. It took until Tuesday to get the accommodations confirmed, and in the meantime, the Affordable Tours website said the tour date was sold out. It was an anxious time. I'll need to make sure that everything is 100% confirmed if I book again. "
