"I was looking to get into airsoft.
I didnt know that much about it, but the learning curve has been steep.
Bought a new ICS SIG 551 from these guys, mid level gun, good quality and value according to reviews Ive seen.
The salesman recommended an 11 volt liithium polymer (LiPo) battery for it, as it does not come with one.
I agreed, the order was shipped, I received it quickly.
I was waiting for Christmas to come before I used the thing as I bought some rifles for the kids as well, from another vendor.
Christmas day we packed up, headed out to our local game area, fired about 10 or 12 bursts of two or three seconds each, when the gearbox in the gun failed.
After further investigation, the battery was NOT recommended by the factory, or anyone else on the planet other than these guys.
A new gearbox is $85. I paid $179 for the gun.
Warranty will not cover the problem as it was the batteries fault, not the manufacturer.
So, meanwhile I get my head shot off by the $100 guns I bought the kids.
I have a brand new gun with a mag still 7/8 full from the first fill and a broken gearbox.
Now what? Not really into spending another $85 bucks on this thing, plus another $30 dollars for the correct battery, plus tax,and shipping. Almost to what I paid for the thing in the first place.
I have not let this experience sour my desire to participate in this as a hobby. There are many reliable, and knowledgeable stores out there.
