1) You can find good prices here.
2) Buyers are protected during the deal. Ali platform does not free your payment to the seller until you confirmed receipt. Disput with platform's judge can be opened if something went wrong. If you give right proofs, you have all chances to return your money. Not always, but still.
3) As far as I know, many russian people use relatively new TMall shop on Ali to buy from russian stock with less shipping delays.
4) You can find not only goods from China, but also services, like PCBs production, CNC, printing and so on.

Minuses:
1) Comparing to e-bay and some other shops, Aliexpress platform still has very poor search engine. For example, ebay will show you all seller's offers on your request first, then will show something similar to request. Aliexpress will show you some Ads-items first, then tens of something else, and then you, may be, will see what you searched. It can even not find some lots that exist. You find item by page-to-page walking, but it can be absent in search results. And yes-yes, I'm really able to set right search request for search engines, be sure.
2) 75% of sellers on Ali will kik your brain with prices. What they do? They make item's lot with few "colors" ("types", etc.) of item with High price, and add 1 item with very Low price. And then buyer cannot really see prices when he searched something, and of course he cann't filter searched lots by price. OK, can filter, but no sense for that.
Sellers can also scam with items prices by shipping cost. Just set very low price for the item and very high shipping cost - and you are a king of search engine (if you are a seller).
I think, people from EU and USA don't bother that, as they pull money from all the world. But for all other buyers best price is important.
You should be a-lot-of-years-user, like me, to find best deal terms on Aliexpress. I think cheaters should be punished strictly, they really defaces Ali platform's authority.
3) Ergonomics. You cann't select few items in the basket or in the wishlist to move them to some wishlist or to delete them Together. One-by-one only. ONLY! Idioting. Ooooh....
4) Ergonomics. Few years ago you could see lowest shipping cost in the item's card in search results. Now you don't see it in search results, but only on each item's webpage.

I wrote few ideas to their support two or three times during these years, but nothing changed really.
Now Ali is changing their website, but those issues are kept. May be they do so to keet millions of different sellers , from which they get profit.
Ali is still one of the favourite market place. Hope some of those things still can be solved in future."

But also, the seller lie about the transporter, announced China Post and use SunYoo or 4X, it's not the same price and delay for delivery even for free shipping ! Because, between 7-15d or 25d-2month, the difference is huge ! It's not transparent, the information clearly displayed and some information not revelead like delay for dispatching, it's also important ! We have delay between order and dispatching, and delay for delivery ! The sellers must have communicate about that !
