"We purchased trade assurance from Alibaba. The goods we purchased we were lead to believe did not require a specific license to be imported. However , we quickly found out it required a medical 2 license. Dispute us asking the vendor beforehand, we were given assurance that the product was allowed to come through customs. When customs reviewed the product they stated that the shipment required an upgraded license.
I contacted the vendor and later Alibaba for help . I was told my purchase was protected and not to worry .
Alibaba didn't even bother to read the evidence. Shirley Z who handled the chase clearly did not review the evidence . She simply cited a few terms and conditions and closed the case . We are a small business and depended on the vendor to provide truthful information and also Alibaba to protect us. Neither happened

After checking, we find the goods was detained by your local customs due to thee policy in your country. As the trade terms is CIF, you need to afford the risk during delivery. According to trade assurance service rules https://rule.alibaba.com/rule/detail/4709.htm Buyer acknowledges and agrees that Buyer will not receive any refunds from One Touch in the event of any of the followings: 11.9 The products of the Purchase Contract cannot be exported due to any laws, regulations and/or policies.
In such case, we have no reason to ask the seller for refund forcibly if you did not tell the seller that you need them provide you a licence for you to do the customs clearance, please keep in touch with the seller and negotiate with her directly before the deadline.
What she failed to understand ,the vendor claimed it was not a medical device. Sign a document stating it was NOT a medical device. Customs Canada and Health Canada inspected the device and claimed it was indeed a medical device due to the fact there was evidence of medical claims in the vendors brochure. How on earth is that our fault as the importer . We purchased goods in good faith
We trusted Alibaba .... We are devastated by their handling of our case . We are a very small business . This may mean the difference of us surviving the winter . We help heal people as a profession ... Truly breaks my heart how we are treated ....
I am hopeful someone in the billion dollar company cares about the little guy . I highly doubt anyone will read our commentary.
