"I recently ordered the m15x laptop and I am extremely happy with it. It exceeded all my expectations. It runs better than any computer I have ever used, and I will not hesitate to buy my next computer from Alienware."
"Loved it! Extra credit for being the "special" laptop in the Chuck TV series!"
"I am very pleased with my M17 purchase. Alienware was a pleasure doing business with and the notebook exceded my expectations. I also bought the Alienware Messenger bag. My only quibble is that the bag only has a shoulder strap and not a hand strap as well. I'm really scrapping the bottom if that is my only complaint. I'm proud to wear my Alienware hat everywhere."
"I am extremely satisfied with the the laptop and service from Alienware. I purchased a customized Area 51 mx15x. I purchased it with at Quadro graphics card, some extra memory and a bit bigger processor. Delivery took a little over a week and I was kept informed all through the process.
The computer worked perfectly right out of the box, no problems at all. I did get Vista Ultimate on it and while I am not really a Vista fan this computer runs it without any problems.
My primary purpose for this laptop is to run 3D graphics programs like Maya and 3ds Max etc. This computer runs them with no problems and has fairly good rendering times for smaller files.
The build quality is excellent and the screen is bright and clear with no dead pixels.
For having a 512 Quadro card, duo core processer and 4 gig of ram, the computer does not run hot and its dual fans keep it cool and are quiet.
I would not hesitate to buy from Alienware again, and when I am in the market for a new desktop it will be Alienware."
"I am very pleased with my M17 purchase. Alienware was a pleasure doing business with and the notebook met my expectations. I would purchase from them in the future and highly recommend them. "
"Everything is great.... we love it. It's a beautiful machine. The screen is amazing. I highly suggest the Skull cap design. Thank you, Mike & Tressa"
"I am enjoying my Alienware. I ordered the Area 51 7501. I always wanted an Alienware and finally got one and it was worth the wait. There was initially a problem with the sound, but this was quickly and efficiently fixed by their technical support. My only criticism would be that they do not make it very easy to find the 24 hour support line number. I kept initially getting a message saying it was after office hours."
"Having heard about the brand and experiences with friends, I decided to splurge on an Area-51 m15X.
The ordering process on the website was informative and intuitive. I had to follow up my order with a phone call. The staff in the Orders department was quite helpful and arranged for the non-standard payment I requested.
I was told to track the order via the Alienware website, which splits the whole process in 9-phases. I can assure you this part of the infrastructure did not come-out as Alienware might have intended. Alienware definitely needs to look into updating the phase-game, making it more real-time.
Having paid nearly twice the amount for an average notebook in this category, I was quite looking for a 'royal' experience. But call through to the customer-support representatives were more a challenge of my wits and patience than their genuine concern to help. I did find most 'floor-managers' to be quite helpful, courteous, and interestingly, with all the answers. Why don't they bring these guys to the phone in the beginning?
The product, finally delivered, was packaged quite well, and did show the 'rich' feel. I quite enjoyed the little extras - the mousepad, leather-bound folder with recovery disks, but not the cap. We could have done with a media remote instead!
The laptop itself looked exactly as I expected. I like the hot-swappable disk bay, the backlit keyboard, and the trackpad, although having a blind spot between the tracking area and the buttons, is quite a delight to use. The expansion ports are all placed thoughtfully.
Having ogled the machine form the outside, it was time to turn the beast on. And here's when my expectations were let down. The 'Alien-head' start button is quite unreliable. Press it for a second and the machine 'thinks' about starting up, keep it pressed any longer, and it shuts off the minute it starts. Booting to Vista, I found the 'touch-sensitive' buttons quite un-sensitive. For the first couple of boot-ups, they refused to respond to any force. They still are a daily gamble, working on one boot-up, and gone with a restart. This speaks volumes for Alienware's 300-point test process.
My other expectations from a $2000 gaming notebook were significantly let down with tinny speakers (my old HP notebook blasts these little puppies). They sound quite cheap, and while most Alienware users would use external speaker/headphones, I would have liked the internal ones to be more beefier. Another feature that I was let down was the integrated camera. The picture quality on the camera is soft and does not lend any confidence to the component. Gamers are social beings too! Finally, I fail to find a reason for not including a VGA-out port, in addition to the HDMI. This limits the machine's backward-compatibility severely!
In conclusion, the Alienware Area-51 m15x is a beautiful machine to own and show off, if you are able to live with the drawbacks above. The gaming quality, ability to upgrade the components and the overall badass design appeals to most, but needs to be taken with a pinch of salt."
"I purchased the ALX X58. An outstanding selection. I am so pleased with every aspect of my purchase. Alienware Sales personnel are very professional and all items of my selection were double-checked for accuracy. All Phases of the Build-Process went smoothly and Alienware's communication during the process and after delivery was way above the norm. This was my first Alienware purchase and I will select them again for future purchases. Delivery was outstanding and packaging was exceptional. I could not have been more pleased. The ALX X58 is quality and performance is superior. I am not disappointed with any of the devices installed. The SSD's are an excellent choice for Hard Drives. Fast and quite. I was impressed how quite the system is overall. I strongly recommend Alienware. "
"I recently ordered the alienware area-51 m9750 and it was first of all built fast, shipped fast and when i recieved it, it was exactly what i wanted and more. I am very please with all aspects of dealing with alienware and their products are top of the line. I'm very happy with what i recieved. Thanks alienware."
"I just received my Alienware laptop recently (Thursday April 16th, 2009) with success.
I just wanted to reiterate that I was very, very pleased with my purchase. Everything from the packaging, to the laptop-casing, to the speed in which I received my shipment. I got it approx. 2 weeks ahead-of-schedule. The last time I received a product that was this 'hardcore' and had this much care put into it, was when I purchased an SNK Neo Geo many years ago. Moreover, I usually import many products from Japan; but, in terms of products on American soil -- the Alienware 'look' and 'feel' blew me away. Even though pricing was more than the average for a "PC" -- it was still cheaper than a MAC and used higher-quality components than 99% of the other PC's out there. A very close friend of mine who is a "MAC-enthusiast" saw the laptop and was shocked!
I'm 'hooked,' and whenever the time comes for me to upgrade again -- I will for sure buy Alienware again. I will never buy from a major 'chain' again.
Overall -- it's truly a product for hardcore consumers. It's the 'Ferrari' of PC's/laptops. "
"Alienware's Professionalism from the Web site to the building of the specified product to delivery of product and presentation of product and Performance and Quality of Product is bound with integrity.Build it as if you own it.
Thank You,
Jerry Jay Hanson"
"Not at all thrilled with the build. Didnt even proccess my order for four days. why? We don't know. That delay snowballed into a backorder problem with video card. I was kinda jacked around a bit. Took almost a month to get my system.
The system is awesome,no complaints so far with that. I really like the light up keyboard. "
"I had an excellent experience with Alienware. During the time it was being built, I received regular updates on the status of my machine. I called customer service a couple of times to ask about possible options and was pleased to speak with friendly agents without having to wait forever on hold. My m15x runs great and I am very happy."
"It is my opinion that most of the reviews for Alienware, a subsidiary of Dell, on this site are likley fake. If one compares the amount of BBB complaints against their high rating here a large disparity is readily apparent. Please do a web search and many bad stories emerge.
After the glowing blue alien head started to flicker, I had my notebook catch fire due to what looks like a poor case of wire routing. It is beyond repair and unfortunatley, out of warranty. Victor, the head of customer service, refused to let me speak with anyone else and told me that "even if you notebook is only 24 hours out of warranty it is your problem not ours". Yes, the notebook was out of waranty. However, a notebook is not supposed to spontaneously catch fire. This appears to be the fault of the Alienware build process and they refuse to help me out at all. I am not asking for a free notebook, bit a slight discount on a new machine would be in order it seems. What happened to going above and beyond Alienware?
Having been a good customer, I will no longer do business with a company like this. I strongly encourage you to research the Alienware customer service reputation and take your business elsewhere."
