"Not to overwhelm the reader with all the details here are the basics.
Spent $3800 on the M9750. It wouldn't play any games Sent it back 3 times in a six month period till finally I got my pre-paid legal attorneys to get them to give me a whole new computer M17x.
After receiving the M17x the webcam would not work. I sent it back 5 times over a year and a half. I got them to give me extended upgrades ect.
All in all the total time my computer was in the repair facility was 8 to 9 months out of the 1 1/2 years I had the laptop.
Save yourself the trouble and don't buy from this company they were crap before Dell acquired them and they are crap now that Dell has them."
"I purchased a desktop 5 years ago. Running amd 4000+ 2 gigs of ram, and sli enabled 256mb 7800gt's. Its been 5 years now, I have had only one problem and it was a small fan on a chip on the motherboard that stopped working 4 years ago, and i have not noticed any problems from it. I had not had a desire to even shop for another pc until now becuase it is 5 years old and getting outdated and doesnt have the pull i need for todays games. As satisfied as I am with this pc, I will not purchase another Alienware because of thier prices. I'm going with ibuypower this time."
"I ordered an Alienware Aurora ALX desktop from Dell with a i7 980 extreme processor, 12 GB 1600 MHZ ram, and crossfire enabled Radeon™ HD 5870 video cards. I have been absolutely thrilled with the performance of this machine. I also added a Corsair F-160 SSD as the boot drive after I received the computer. This further enhanced performance. Thanks to Micro Center for making this hard drive upgrade affordable. In addition to being very pleased with the system performance, I am also very pleased with the tech support provided by the Alienware support team at Dell. They absolutely went above and beyond in their help and support in helping me replace the boot drive with a SSD and in several other areas I asked for help with. This is the first review I have ever written. I felt compelled to comment on the exceptional quality of the Alienware computer and Dell's exceptional technical support. I would be difficult for me to purchase from another computer supplier. Dell has met all my needs and expectations. Thanks Dell."

"Dear Allienware,
Having very little knowledge about what was necessary to record music with a laptop computer I called Allienware in Janurary, March, and April of 2009.
I was informed by Allienware Salespersons that an Allienware Laptop would provide far more then all the hoursepower I would need to record music with a Pro Tools setup, or Cakewalk.
Based upon their advice I purchased an M-17 specifically to produce music although the samesperson did talk ne into an extre video card saying that if I purchased the extra video card I could record studio quality music PLUS play games on the same laptop.
I paid Allienware $2,597.93 for the M-17 Invoice 471503 dated 3/19/2009.
Upon receiving the laptop I installed Cakewalk Sonar and found that the sound card installed was NOT a professional recording sound card but rather a sound chip on the motherboard. The sound chip did NOT have a wm driver, as required for recording music, and I kept contacting Allienware but getting no response on my driver requests. I found Allienware support to be sporatic at best.
I thought I’d forget it and pay for a professional card myself. I purchased an M Audio moble USB. The unit conflicted with the ATI video cards.
I sold the unit on e-bay at a substantial loss and purchased the M-Audio Fast-track Pro. I found that the USB on the Allienward Laptop was SLOW and kept conflicting.
I put the M-Audio unit on my daughter’s old Sony Laptop and it worked fine.
Again I sold the M-Audio on ebay, lost money, and I purchased a Line 6 POD studio UX1. The $2,597.93 Top of the Line Allienware Laptop again was too slow but yet my daughter’s old Sony Laptop worked.
I sold the Line 6, again lost money and purchased a Presonus Firestudio Moble. It works on my daughter’s old Soney but conflicted with the Firewire chip on the Allienware.
I told Allienware I intended to buy the laptop for recording music and the experts at M Audio, Line 6, and Presonus ALL said the firewire chip on the Allienware Laptop CONFLICTS with ALL the firewire music units out there, that Allienware SHOULD HAVE USED THE TEXAS INSTRUMENTS CHIP instead of the conflicting Rihol (spelling may be wrong) junk chip.
So I paid another $100 for new Firewire card. It conflicted with the Allienware Laptop. I purchased a SECOND Express Firewire card. The card only worked part time, and would bluescreen because of conflicts so I Purchased Windows 7 Professional in hopes of correcting the problem.
When I purchased my laptop the Allienware Salesperson said I would need TWO hard drives to record music. So again I paid an extra $300 only to find out they were put in a RAID when they should have been separate with one drive for the operating system and programs and the other harddrive for recording the music on.
So AGAIN I paid and purchased an external harddrive to record the music on because of Allienware’s wrong information. When I purchased the Allienware Laptop your salesperson told me my laptop would have a very fast Esata for a fast external hard drive.
Guess what? Allien ware ALSO used a junk chip for the Esata port that is known all over the internet for causing the extrenal drive to say it’s write protected.
If you unplug the Esata drive and plug it back in and play with it for hours sometime it will work….for a while.
The Firewire Express Card STILL gives bluescreens.
So now it’s been nearly two years, I’ve paid you $2,597.93 PLUS spent at least another $2,000 and the Allienware Laptop STILL will not conform to it’s intended purpose, and has never been able to record a single guitar track, let alone a whole song.
WHY your salesman didn’t honestly tell me Apple Computers are best for recording music I’ll never know. Why your employees don’t know the Esata port chip is defective and causes attached extrenal harddrives to be write protected and useless I’ll never know.
Why Allienware didn’t use the COMPATABLE Texas Instruments Firewire chip I’ll never know.
I do KNOW Federal Law called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act entitles me to a laptop that conforms to its intended purpose, and REASONABLE costs, damages, and attorney’s fees.
Even after nearly two years of hell from your company’s misrepresentations my main goal is to receive what I paid you for, an up-to-date laptop that records STUDIO Quality Music that will compaire with a professional recording studio.
I’ve spent nearly two years and gotton no recording use despite that being the PURPOSE of my buying your laptop. I paid you top dollar for the very BEST of everything and it has gotten outdated while trying to get it to work. And STILL doesn’t work.
1. I request that Allienware be HONEST with consumers and if you don’t know anything about recording music on a laptop you tell the consumer.
2. I request a powerful, state of the art, top of the line, as powerful as it gets, LAPTOP with a Texas Instrument Firewire chipset that WORKS with the Presonus Firestudio moble everytime without conflicts.
3. I request an ESATA chipset that WORKS with an external harddrive without having to plug and unplug and have the drive go into write protected mode by itself.
4. I expect two of the best video cards out there WITHOUT CONFLICTS.
5. I want Allienware to make damn sure the laptop works PERFECT with the Presonus Firewire Mobile BEFORE shipment. That I can just record without spending my life trying to get your product to work.
I am legally entitled to far more then I am asking for. I paid to be able to record music. Instead I’ve spent nearly two years finding out the laptop was NOT built to be used for it’s intended purpose.
Please let me know if you will agree to provide me with what I paid you for or if I should start looking for counsel.
Thank you for your time and kind consideration in this matter,
Billy Ray Kidwell

"We ordered an alienware M15 for my son for college. It has been an absolute nightmare dealing with this company. As you know the computer costs almost $2000. On his second day of college the computer wouldn't even boot up. Tech support had him try to reload his operating system which didn't work. My son told them he thought it was the hard drive and they wouldn't listen. After several attempts of trying to install the operating system they told him it was the CD so they sent him out a new one. When it came, the system did the same thing. A black screen with a cursor. They then said it was the opticals. Realize that seven days have now passed with him at college and no computer. Now they send out a technician (which according to the warranty they are suppose to do if the tech support on the phone can't fix it). The technician installed a new optical drive, put in the CD and still a black screen with a cursor. The technician said he couldn't fix it and left. We again called Dell and once again they try to get my son to install the CD. He refused. He said if the technician couldn't get it to install why did Dell think he can. The technician hung up on him. He called back again. Then they told him they wanted him to remove the hard drive and do something else. Mind you he is in a city he doesn't know and they tell him to go get a screw driver. He walked all over the city until he found one that would fit. By this time we had enough. We called tech support and spoke with a manager. She assured us that she would send a new hard drive out with over night delivery. Because the computer was over 21 days old, there is no return of the computer. Well, guess what, it is now 2 days after the hard drive was suppose to arrive and it hasn't. I called tech support and spoke with a manager. He tell us it isn't schedule to arrive until Tuesday which is 3 days from now. That's 5 days for an overnight package. The tech support manager said he has no control over Fedex. This is the worst support I have ever seen. One piece of advice, don't buy a Dell. I realize things break but stand behind your product! "
"Recommend that you do not purchase any equipment from this vendor.
I bought an Alienware m9750 Laptop. Luckily, I purchased the 3-year maintenance contract. Unluckily, I've had to send the laptop back 5 times in 3 years.
I've been a loyal Dell customer, since around 1997. My 1st 2 laptops were sent back to Dell for repair after 4 years of use...and only for one hardware issue, each. Sending back this laptop 5 times in 3 years is unacceptable.
Off the top of my head, the video card(s) has been replaced twice, the raid hardware was replaced, the system board has been replaced, and the LCD monitor was replaced.
Their phone support is bad. During the 1st 2 years, it would take me weeks to get the laptop sent back for repairs. Alienware Phone Support would simply have me reimage and/or install the OS from start...then wait to see what would happen for a few days.
Each issue that I had called into Alienware Phone Support ended up being hardware problems.
I made the mistake of upgrading my SLI setup to Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT's. Per the Alienware forums, these video cards have a known problem with heat.
Even though my video cards have been replaced twice in two years, I was never given a chance to downgrade the video cards to the original Nvidia 7950 GTX. The video cards were replaced July, 2010, for a 2nd time."
"Alienware took my order twice, never called me to give me a status on my order, postponed it twice RIGHT at the end of the "should be shipping on" date, and cost way too much for the system in question.
A thing about the postponing. In two orders, my computer was postponed twice. I would wait a month as the estimated delivery date was a month from my order. Then a couple of days before the estimated delivery date, the date would be updated to a week later. Then a week later, it would be updated AGAIN to a week later. By this time and by law, Dell/Alienware have to automatically cancel the order if I do not confirm to keep postponing it. So I cancelled the orders. (By a month's time, the computer has already depreciated anyway!)
I'm not even sure if Alienware makes computers by the amount of delays. My cousin has one but he waited 2 months to get his! I told him about mine from CyberPower and he was in awe of the customer service and value.
My honest opinion: go CyberPower or the like. Alienware is far too overpriced for its value and support."
"I had a pretty painless experience with Alienware. I purchased the m9700 in 12/08 because I didn't want to jump onto the Vista ship just yet and it was the only model still with XP. I love the laptop's performance but there are some design features that I'm not exactly a fan or, and are sometimes downright annoying. One is the cd tray. It opens out toward the user and sometimes the release button can be pressed, unintentionally opening the tray. The speakers are on either side of the tray so sometimes the sound can be muffled. Lastly, the screen hinge is a little loose, nothing of major concern, but still annoying."
"Best looking computer I never received.
I ordered a Area-51 from Alienware (Dell) in February with a expected delivery date near the end of February. This was a very expensive purchase for me, but I really liked the look and expected performance of the new Area-51 computers.
About a week before the delivery date, I received an email stating that the delivery was pushed out 2 weeks, and that I needed to respond or the order would be canceled. Of course I wanted my computer, so I responded. Only now my computer would be delivered on 3/10.
Then on 3/5 I receive another email saying my computer was delayed again, this time with a 3/17 delivery date and that I needed to respond or my order would be canceled. At first I did respond, but then it hit me. I am spending over 3 thousand dollars with this company and they can't contact me at all when it is delayed and tell me why? Does it take 6 weeks to build a computer? Do they value me as a customer for spending money?
So I called the company and said I was considering canceling my order, expecting an explanation and perhaps some concessions to placate an irate customer. Instead, within 5 minutes with no amount of care nor compassion, my order was canceled (no fuss nor muss) and with it my loyalty in a company that I had owned 4 of my last 5 computers with (Both Alienware and Dell) over the course of 8 years."
"BUYERS BEWARE....Better Business Bureau acknowledges concern....
I had the same exact problem as Reviewer chrissysmommie.
Alienware's customer service is shit. I had my M15x for 1yr and 4 days before the laptop's monitor's hinge broke on me. I called Alienware for support and they refused to provide tech and phone support unless I paid them $60 since my Warranty had expired only 4 days ago.
So I simply asked to renew my warranty, but both the Alienware CSR and their Supervisor refused and told me the only way to fix the problem was to have me pay them $805 to triage and repair the necessary work.
My simple response was... "yeah right, you can kiss my ass."
So I ended up parting my laptop and sold them online.
My next purchase will be with iBuyPowers since they have far better reviews than the Alienshit."
"Dear Alienware Support,
I sent my primary PC, my Alienware computer in for three weeks hoping to have the motherboard repaired. One of the RAM slots on the motherboard was fried, and now my system only has one RAM slot instead of two. This was noted by someone whom I spoke to on the phone. Then I decided to take the time to send my computer to get it repaired, and endure the three or four weeks it would take for it to be repaired. Unfortunately, your repair staff seems to be incompetent. I can not even begin to explain the rage I am feeling after opening my computer after being without it for as long as I had to, only to reach inside and find a slip of paper with a check mark by "Failure can no be duplicated." Without hesitation, and in less than a minute, I duplicated the failure. I moved the RAM from one slot to the broken RAM slot. Tada! The computer would not start. Then the next check box is "Repaired" with the employees note beside it, "Reinstalled OS" I would like to point out that this is not a repair at all. I deliberately uninstalled the operating system myself, and I hope that Ms. Gisela Rangel did not think that I sent my computer out so that she could install Windows for me and pretend that she fixed something. Also the other option is "Not Repaired (Customer could not be contacted). I assume this means that if you cannot find the problem, that the customer is contacted to ask for more specification so that the customer's time isn't wasted and doesn't receive a broken computer; which it was, and I have. I am outraged, and cannot believe that someone working in tech repairs failed to reproduce my problem. In my opinion, you should fire this person immediately. Not only was my computer not fixed, but I received a system with two RAM cards, and they didn't even test it with two, which would have shown the problem. Nay they didn't even test it with the one I sent! I think it is absurd that I should have to send the computer a second time, only to be rolling the dice as to whether or not it will be repaired! Not to mention the huge waste of time waiting for my computer! Here is my information. I expect you to please call me back and follow up by telling me how you want to make this up to me to protect your customer service claims. Thank you.

I had to call them because they don't do email support anymore. They insisted that the tehnician had found no problems, and I insisted that I was able to duplicate the problem. They suggest sending me new RAM. I asked if I should be able to start the computer with RAM in either the top or bottom RAM slot. He said I should. I said I couldn't. He gave me two day shipping this time, but said that was all that could be done to expedite it. Two weeks later I received my computer AGAIN. I looked for the repair slip. It said the problem was duplicated this time. It said the motherboard had been replaced. I turned on my computer and tried to restore my computer from a backup with my external HDD. Turns out only one of my three USB ports now work, thanks to the "repairs" they made. I have to either return it for more repairs a THIRD time, or just deal with having one USB port when all three should work. Will call them soon but am exhausted."
"buen equipo, algunas fallas con pantallas azules, pero en general buen equipo"
"Model: M15x laptop
I purchased this disaster of a computer from a company that doesn’t understand the simple concept of customer service.
The laptop has been a nightmare from day one. The volume kept on changing on its own while the laptop was sitting idle. The mouse pad was all jittery. The cursor would freeze up every few seconds. And those are some of the “less” irritating issues.
I was asked to reload the OS with the “alien respawn” disk that they charge extra for. Twice. That did not help. Then I was told to do a complete reinstall with the extra disks that came with the pc. That fixed some of the issues (temporarily) that I had. At the same time I realized that I paid extra for a disk I couldn’t use since using it would bring back a lot of the issues I had in the beginning. Whoever was responsible for assembly and testing dropped the ball.
After a while the laptop would start shutting down on its own.
I sent it in for motherboard replacement twice. It came back with the same issues each time.
The person placed in charge of my case tried to “upgrade” me to a 2 year old laptop that they no longer advertise on their website. Without my approval he had it shipped. I had it returned to the sender by calling the delivery company and rerouting it back to Alienware.
Every time I called their customer service I was automatically rerouted to Dell. Go figure. Apparently Dell doesn’t have access to Alienware’s customer data so each time I called they would tell me to get lost. The only way to get hold of the right people was to call Alienware’s tech support.
I’m still out 2000 bucks. All I got was the run around and a lot of promises.
If you value your money don’t deal with this company.
The day I buy anything from them again is the day Satan will be skating to work.
"
"This has been the worst experience ever. I paid alot of money for this laptop, and when I called to get help and to order a replacement screen, they told me that they could not sell me a replacement but I could send in my laptop and pay almost 5 times the amount of the replacement part. I asked to speak to a manger and they REFUSED to let me speak to one. Before I finally got a hold of someone that could help me, I was transfered about 5 times and hung up on. I will never buy anything for them again, and I will not ever recommend them to anyone."
