"Hello everyone. This is Tarek Ayoub
In case you dropped by to read what is new after all these years, I thought I may leave you this note to say two things:
1. I truly regret the difficult circumstances and all the troubles that some of Altima customers had to endure during the last two months while the company was going through the acquisition. At the time, I was not able to disclose much during the acquisition process, but I did my best to leave informative notices on our site and also here. The problem is that while the acquisition / escrow process was practically complete, and change of hands was to take place at a certain date, the buyer defaulted causing the acquisition date to be pushed back 10 days, then another 2 more weeks to allow the buyer a chance to remedy the default. This caused a total disruption of the operation. We were not able to fill all the orders, or accept payments during the periods of delay. As you can imagine, it was an extremely difficult time, but we managed to handle most orders with the exception of 80 - 100 orders (keeping in mind that we process at times hundreds of orders per day). Anyway, these orders were completely mishandled, and those customers were quite justified to be very upset at Altima, and even at me personally. Some were so upset that they pulled down our excellent rating to “poor rating” and even posted a web site dedicated to me! They said amazing things about me that I dare not repeat !!!. Eventually, we took care of these orders (mostly through refunds), but the company was frozen pending the dilemma with the buyer. Eventually the buyer defaulted completely after many postponements and we had to use legal means to resolve the problem.
2. Altima was offered for a cash price of seven digits. The company had a wonderful track record, tens of thousands of repeat customers, and many stores used Altima as their primary source for components. Altima was famous for getting 95% of all orders in customer’s hands the next day. Altima also enjoyed excellent rating (with the exception of the weeks during the failed acquisition). The company has nearly 120 vendors / suppliers, mostly technology and direct component manufacturers. We maintained very positive relationships with most of the vendors and kept them fully informed of the acquisition and it was the intention for the new buyer to continue to build on that foundation. Just like any business, there were some disputes with a hand full of vendors, but we were committed to resolving all the issues, even after the company stopped the operation, which should speak volumes !!
The company has been inactive for about three years, but if you are interested to acquire its assets (vendors and customers databases, applications, Intershop shopping cart software engine), I will be glad to accept bids as I have pursued other interest few years ago. Let me hear from you, or if you are interested to acquire Altima, send me an email with your offer (it is obviously a lot more affordable at this time!!).
Best regards, Tarek
