"Purchased computer from Amber PC at a trade show in Atlanta. Was told I was getting an upgrade from a 2.4 CPU to a 3.1 CPU, and that they would throw in free speakers and a printer. Long story short: The speakers aren't compatible with the computer, and the printer doesn't work. I had a technician check out the computer and it turns out it has a 1.6 CPU. The technician called Amber PC, and they said to return it but that they would not pay for postage. To top it off, there is NO SUCH THING AS A 3.1 CPU!! I checked with my credit card company the next business day, and the purchase already went through. (The scammers didn't waist any time.) I ended up having to cancel my credit card and dispute this purchase. I'm still fighting this battle! Whatever you do, I suggest you NEVER use these lying thieves...unless you want a hunk of junk and a hole in your pocket! "
"Less than 48 hours from carrying the ups box inside the house, this thing started to say it was an AMD 1500 CPU instead of an AMD 2200 CPU!! The next morning I called them. I pushed in the power button on my new computer and nothing happened. I explained everything to them and they had me try several things but to no avail. Then they told me that I HAD to figure out which individual part was bad so that I could send JUST THAT PART back to them. This, he stated would save a bunch on shipping charges!! He then told me to take my AMD 900 processor out of my older computer and put it in this one to see if it was the processor that was defective. I agreed to try that. So when I opened the case and took the heatsink spring loose from the processor, the very tip of the plastic arm chipped off. This chip doesn't in any way affect the spring's ability to stay attached to the arm why should this even be an issue? I even pleaded with them to test the motherboard and fix anything else that was wrong and then send me back that very same motherboard with the small plastic chip. REMEMBER, THEY TOLD ME TO MESS WITH IT TO BEGIN WITH. I would have been fine to send the whole computer back to them but they didn't want to have to pay a few dollars more to send the whole thing back to me. Just to let you know, the whole kit only cost $12.25 to ship. Also, when I took the heatsink off the processor, the CPU had gotten so hot that the die was dislodged from the CPU board and stuck to the bottom of the heatsink!! Well, since this very small piece of metal is so thin, I couldn't get a grip on it with my fingers to separate it from the heatsink so I used my pocket knife. It made two very small scratched on the die (the exact width of the blade of my pocket knife). The CPU was already burned up and not repairable since the die was completely dislodged from the CPU board!! So what difference does it make whether or not the thing has a scratch on it? AGAIN, REMEMBER THEY TOLD ME TO TRY MY OTHER AMD PROCESSOR IN THIS MOTHER BOARD!! In order to do that I HAD to separate the die from the heatsink. I then proceeded to install my 900 CPU and then I tried powering up and it did the same thing. We thought that maybe that CPU was just not fast enough for that motherboard so I borrowed my friends 1700 CPU out of his computer. I installed it and again nothing happened!! He called me about an hour after he left my house and informed me that now his computer was doing exactly what my new computer was doing. THAT'S RIGHT, NOTHING!! NOT EVEN POSTING!! So that's when I knew the CPU'S were being burned up by either the mother board or the power supply sending too much voltage to the CPU. I then quickly put my 900 CPU back in my other computer to test it and it was doing the same thing as well!! Now I was really in for it because I knew I was going to have to replace my friends 1700 CPU and my 900 CPU!! THANKS A LOT AMBERPCUSA TECH SUPPORT!! So I called this company again and reported my findings and after all that they told me to go ahead and send the whole kit back to them!! They told me to tell my friend to return his 1700 back to where he bought it from and THAT COMPANY would replace it since it was only 5 months old. Now is it just me, or does that seem to be just a bit dishonest? And as for my 900, well I informed them that I bought it from them and provided the invoice number and everything. After being on hold for about 2 minutes they came back and said that since I bought it about 18 months ago they wouldn't be able to replace it!! Well, I wasn't too happy about it but I accepted the fact that I was going to have to buy a new 1700 and a new 900. So anyway, I sent them the whole kit back and I tracked it on UPS.com. This package was received by them at 12:20pm and then they sent it back out to me that very same day!! I received it about 3 days later and when I read the packing slip I discovered their scam. It stated that the CPU die was scratched and the plastic arm was chipped on the motherboard so that voided the warranty on both. They never bothered to test the power supply even though they said (during my very first call) that it was a very likely cause of my whole problem. And THIS really puzzles me.....the packing slip also states that both these assertions were also made by their distributor and the distributor voided the warranty for these two items. HOW IN THE WORLD DID THEY HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO SEND IT TO THE DISTRIBUTOR TO MAKE THOSE ASSERTIONS? I haven't received my credit card bill for this purchase yet. But as soon as I do, I'm going to dispute a charge for the first time in my life!! MORAL OF THIS STORY: DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND PAY A LITTLE MORE SOMEWHERE ELSE!! BUYING THIS $321 BAREBONES KIT FROM AMBERPCUSA.COM AS OF RIGHT NOW IS COSTING ME OVER $800!!

"I ordered a barebones from these idiots, and when it came it had a bad motherboard. The support tech was a total tool, tried to tell me it needed different memory than pc100 to work. I pointed out to him that the manufactuer website said the board was fine with pc100. He became abusive, and was really rude. I returned the barebones and they claimed there was nothing wrong with it, and tried to charge me all kinds of restocking fees. I protested to my credit card company and after 6 months I won the decision and did not have to pay the jerks. I still lost the shipping back to them in Ohio. I would never deal with these guys again."
"I bought a barebones system and it was delivered as promised. Low prices. Great for average home user."
