"AWFUL! AVOID! What a terrible customer service experience. I placed an order yesterday for a camera accessory. Today, I logged onto their site to check the status of my order and saw a notice that the order had been cancelled. I called customer service to find out why the order was cancelled. The customer service representative who took my call was rude, degrading and accusatory. When I asked why the order was cancelled she said the manufacturer discontinued it. So, I asked why it was still showing as being in stock on their website. She cut me off to they had called me after I placed the order yesterday to tell me they couldn't fulfill it. Why would I be calling you to ask what happened if someone called me? When I said no one called me, she responded she wasn't going to argue with me, but that someone called me yesterday to tell me. Excuse me? I told her I understood mistakes happen and an apology would go a long way. She carried on, repeating multiple times that I was wrong and they had called me. When I finally said I was really disappointed in the customer service she was providing and asked her name, she responded, "too bad" and hung up on me. Class act.
Ambient Weather, you can rest assured I will share my experience wherever I can to keep others from the same fate.

"Ordered a GE 06694 24 hour digital power strip timer - 3 pack. When I received a single power strip, I called the customer service line. The person that answered the phone was very pleasant and said she would have to call the dropshipper but she would get back to me. I was pleasantly surprised when she actually did call back fairly promptly. Here's where the pleasantness ended. I was told that there was an error in the description that they received from their dropshipper and I couldn't possibly believe that I was going to get 3 power strips for that price. When I pointed out that yes, I did believe that I would receive 3 since the description stated a 3 pack not just once but 3 times. I was then told that it wasn't their problem since it was the dropshippers error. When I suggested that they had a responsibility to verify the information that was posted on their website, I was told that I could have my money back less a restocking fee once I returned the item at my expense or I could keep the item for what I paid for it. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that she was in charge of misshipments and if I tried calling again, I would still end up talking to her so not to bother. Since I really wanted the item, I chose to keep it but I will never order from Ambient Weather again."
"Summary: If you don't like wasting 2 days of your precious time for nothing and being treated like a thief in the process, I suggest you should shop elsewhere.
Details: I researched the net for a good seller of Lacrosse BC700 charger and Sanyo Eneloop batteries, thought I had found it at Ambient Weather. unfortunately I was wrong: they took a few hours to send me an email saying that "The three digit security code on the back of the card was not entered", even though I was sure I had entered it, and asked me to call their number (long distance, of course, so the call was at my expense). I called and after being asked all kinds of pointed questions by a rude sales rep and being disconnected after being told that "we will be processing your order", I checked the order page at their web site the next day just to see it showing "This order has been cancelled", without ANY warning or justification, either on the web page itself or on a followup email, which I never received.

[UPDATE 2010/02/03] I've never received anything from Ambient Weather: as stated in my previous review, they simply cancelled the order without ANY notice at all, after 2 days of wasting my time and money including asking me to call them (on a not-toll-free number, of course) allegedly to "inform the 3 digit security code" which I had already entered when I placed my order, and being rude to me on that call.
Adding (more) insult to injury, in response to my review here their "Customer Care" person simply says flat-out that I'm lying ("The sales rep. was not rude"), while trying to put a good face on this comedy of errors by saying that it all was a "good testiment(sic) for our company" because they "go the extra mile to protect the credit card holder against fraud".
What a joke... they made ME go a LOT of extra miles with their paranoid attitude, and in the end simply canceled the order (which I would not have found out if I hadn't checked their website, as they didn't even had the minimum courtesy of sending me a email to inform me of the cancellation).
When I order something from a company, I expect them to deliver -- not to waste my time and money and in the end simply dump my order without any warning at all.
So, fellow consumers, take heed: if you find buying from companies that deliver a bore, try ordering from Ambient Weather... you will be angered or amused (depending on whether you like or dislike being mistreated), but you won't be bored. If you are like me and just want the goods delivered, learn from my mistake and don't touch them with a ten-feet pole."
"I ordered 3 items, and one turned out to be faulty. Called customer service and got a hold of someone immediately. I exchanged the product, which was quick and painless, but the exchange was also faulty (manufacture issue, nothing to do with the store). I contacted the store and discussed my options, such as an exchange or refund, and they were friendly and helpful.
I was a little worried ordering from them since they do not have an well established rating here, but my experience was very good and I would not hesitate to order from them again. "
"Ordered a BOSS AUDIO BV-AM5 VIDEO SIGNAL AMPLIFIER on 8 SEP 09, got an e-mail stating my order was received that same day. Today 9/9/09 I got an e-mail says oreder was shipped via USPS to my APO AP address (my overseas military post office box). Got the item on 15 SEP, all in good shape, not installed yet, but I'm sure it works. Will buy from them again, YES they ship to military overseas, and that gets 5 stars in my book!"
"I placed my order over the weekend and confirmed it via phone with a customer service representative on the following Monday. I was told (rather tersely) that it would be shipping Wednesday or Thursday. I was not enthused about the delay in getting the order processed in shipped but accepted it as the camera was a fantastic deal. Several hours after the phone call I recieved an email stating the product was out of stock and would not be shipped at all. I followed up as to why I would be told one minute yes it's in stock and the next that it wasn't and was "brushed off" by the same customer service representative. I did receive my money back from the transaction but I don't recommend this business based on the way I was treated."

I ordered an Icytunes cooler and had it shipped directly to my father for his birthday, Ambient Weather sent the completely wrong cooler and when I called to find out what happened the customer service rep was unapologetic and completely unhelpful. I was put on hold for 10 minutes while I could hear people watching TV and chatting, every time I did speak with someone they would tell me they had no clue what to do and were hard to understand. They answer the phone with a mumble, I'm wondering if this company is legit and if my dad will ever get the birthday gift I ordered."
