"I purchase a $90 dollar pair of glasses and within three weeks one of the lens fell out. I was able to place it back into the glasses. Then within 6 weeks I simply put on a hoodie and the wire frame came out and my glasses were useless. These are America's Worst Glasses, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"I found out really quick that if you have insurance most of the deals don’t apply to you. I had a really fast exam and picked out my frames. After hearing all I was getting like transition etc.. I would have to pay another $182.00 over the $200 ins. covered. I said just give me what I can have with the ins. The sales guy said I could only get transitions. He said something about the sides of the glasses but I didn’t understand that he meant they were blurring out the sides. Needless to say I can’t drive or walk down stairs with them. I can barely read with them. I tripped down some front porch steps but wasn’t hurt. They messed with the depth deception. I wasn’t treated with respect after said I would take what the ins. paid for. I’m a senior citizen. I have to get new glass but never there again. America’s Best,REALLY??????? What a rip off."
"I have gotten glasses from America's best several times over the past years. I have NO complaints. I was worried that I would have trouble adjusting to my tri-phocals....but LOVE THEM! Purchased in Merrillville, IN on Nov. 28, 2022."
"If 0 we're an option that's what I would have chosen. I purchased insurance because with the dust and wind my lenses often end up scratched. You have to GIVE them your glasses while they send them out for repair. This is RIDICULOUS. I can't afford 2 pairs at $300 (with insurance) so you are expected to be blind while they have your glasses. Shouldn't this have been mentioned when I purchased the insurance through them? Other places will order new lenses and once they have them will have you wait while they pop the new lense in. SAVE YOUR MONEY, THIS IS A SCAM."
"I thought getting the order for them would be painless. It wasn't. The staff member handed me off to the manager, which struck me odd. It's glasses, not a car dealership. She was a bit off-putting with an attitude, which I found unnecessary and not very encouraging.
The manager was going through the options and wrote me up for the most expensive progressive they have for $385 without tax, not including the frame. I literally had to haggle them down to a reasonable price even with insurance. Total cost of $209. I paid for the pair and immediately had a sinking feeling, but couldn't put my finger on why.
5 days later my glasses were in. I went to pick them up and tried them on. I found the glasses to be painful to my eyes. I equated this from wearing my current glasses all day. I told the staff member, I don't know if they were good or not, so I will test them out for a couple of days to see if they work for me.
I got home and put them on again. It was virtually unusable. I couldn't even see from across the room nor see the computer screen properly. Not to mention the eye pain was crippling in my left eye, so I put on my old pair and put away the new pair.
I tried wearing them a few times, but could not stand wearing them for more than 5 minutes. I went back to Target Optical where I did my exam to a) get the new pair measured and b) replace the frame of my current pair because I screwed up the arm.
They assured me the script in the America's Best pair were correct, but mentioned the lenses were convex. They tried adjusting them. They suggested I go back to America's Best to get them remade.
I went back last Wednesday and met with the staff member who first gave me the glasses when I picked them up. I explained my predicament and she thought maybe it was a differing material causing the issue. I thought the convex was causing the severe distortion. I told her that I had Target measure the pair to check that the prescription was correct (it was), but that I could not see out of them and it was painful. She was curious to see what material was used on my Target pair. I didn't have it and Target didn't keep that on file, only the prescription.
I go back to America's Best the day after and I have to deal with the manager again. I explained again the issues and she copped an attitude. She insisted that if I'm having problems it's the script my optometrist wrote. She claimed when she measured both pairs that the right axis was 140 on the new versus 120 on the old and the left eye had axis subtracted. She wanted me to get re-examined and I balked. I've been seeing the same optometrist for 4 years. Instead of making it right, she said, "We will only remake them using the script that are in your current [Target] pair. In order to do that, I need the 2-year-old script rewritten." I reluctantly agreed and went away.
I went to Target Optical and met with the same lady who helped me on my last three visits now. She was perplexed by America's Best asking for the old script, but she ended up giving it to me anyway
I went back to America's Best after work and was glad to see the manager was not in, but the staff member who helped me twice before. She picked up the conversation where we left off on Wednesday. She asked did I find out the material on the old pair. I told her "no". I don't have it and Target doesn't retain it beyond a year.
I advised her that I returned on Friday and her manager would only remake them with the current prescription I'm using (my Target pair). I said that I wish to return the pair that was made because it makes no sense to remake them with the script I'm wearing and with a replaced frame at that. She didn't argue with me. She wasn't thrilled either, but she refunded me my $209 for the entire cost of the pair out of pocket. I gave a star back on this review because she did the right thing. If her manager was there, I'm dead certain I would be denied a refund.
Despite the out of pocket cost refunded, I'll be screwed out of my glasses for the year under VSP."
"Worse company ever. After the free exam, services just goes down the drain if you ever need to come back for a new pair of glasses. Nobody knows anything, employees give the wrong information before checking/confirming and its absolutely a headache trying to get information on your own prescription. God forbid you go to a different store then where you had the initial exam, because even though they can see your prescription in their database they require the old store to fax the prescription to them. However when you call the initial store they will tell you that they need to check company policy before even helping you with the fax and will leave you on hold for 20 mins or more. Even ordering online is a headache because the store employees still need to verify your prescription and lack the diligence to confirm and compare the information they get from you with the information they have in their system. They will also strong arm your prescriptions and tell you they cannot give you the information they see in their database. I had to call corporate office twice because the incompetency of this place is unbelievable! Never will I ever recommend this company. There is a reason why they are so "affordable" I guess. No one is ever able to help you and everyone is confused on company policy and procedure! Beware, your prescription will be mismanaged by everyone. What is the point of having your prescription in their database if it cannot be accessed company wide to make buying glasses more convenient?"
"I had an excellent experience six months ago when I took my daughter to the Gemini Place branch. I met Mayra; she was patient with my daughter even when she could not pick the desired frame. She spent all the time in this world giving us prestigious customer service.
Today, I met another angel named Keisha, who was patient with me because I find it challenging to get the right frame as my face is small and peculiar. I was impressed by her honest recommendations when I asked her to be my judge. Before this review, I scan through the previous studies from other people about poor customer service and ripping people of money. I find this not true in my case. I had a delightful experience at America best at Gemini Place. I advise you to revisit America best, and you will be glad you do. Thank you, Mayra and Keisha."
"The service itself is okay but their mask policies is straight out of the communist party play book. The employees blindly force people to comply with faulty mask policies regardless of the science. They make you wear the thing at all times on the premises. Over 16 international studies show no significant benefit from mask wearing. However, the studies do show an increase in CO2 toxicity in some cases. Yet, they (Americas Best), demand you wear the mask anyway. As a private company they can do what they want and I will go elsewhere for my eye care needs. If you are a free American who cherishes our constitutional freedoms, I recommend going elsewhere. NOTE: The state of Texas does not require mask wearing. "
"America's Best is a DANGEROUS place to do business. I have problems every time I or my family have gone. This time ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! The doctor gave my daughter the wrong prescription. My daughter is a -6.50 and was told her eyesight has not changed and the doctor gave her a prescription for -6.00. I had to call because she was busy in school and told them what happened. She told me when my daughter goes there, the prescription would be changed and ready to be picked up. She went up there almost a day later and no one knew about anything. She talked to someone else and he said he would have to talk to a doctor and get back to her, My daughter called the next day, since we never received a phone call back and a lady said it had been fixed and she could pick it up. I ordered her contacts on Friday and her contact order was canceled today. The doctor gave her ALMOST the right prescription, she gave her a -6.50, but an 8.4 BC instead of an 8.6 BC. The contact she wrote for her, you can not even get an 8.6. My daughter uses SofLens Daily Disposable, but the doctor prescribed SofLens 38, which is NOT a daily. "
"Was unsure of the company but I thought, maybe, just maybe they would be on the up and up. NOT!!!
Typical bait and switch, for the eye exam, they don't mention in the ad that there is a $15 additional fee that I was told must be charged and then $5 more to use a machine to test yours instead of dilating your pupils. So it isn't $69.95 it is really $84.95
I am also questioning the validity of the prescription as when I keyed the numbers into www.glassesusa.com and the message was that for distance the SPH for left and right should be a negative number, but my script shows positive. Now I don't even believe the eye doctor knew what he as doing.
So I picked out two frames, one full rim $69.95 , the other 1/2 rim on sale for $29.95
Total cost for the two pair, $268.00 How does $69.95 suddenly turn into $268.00, GREED and LIES that is how. Save your money and go somewhere else."
"
just now
I showed up to my apt on time yet they helped 3 people that came in after me first, then I wait 45 minutes before I got seen for the pre exam. Apparently I had a Tele doc apt not that I had a choice but after waiting an additional 30 minutes they tell me they are having tech issues and tell me they need to reschedule me. I live 1 hr away and the on site eye doc refused to finish my exam, this is completely unacceptable to me but they are just rude and basically tell me too bad. I had to get my eye exam from lenscrafters instead. And when I called corporate they basically told me to f***off and won't give me the number or name of their supervisors. HORRIBLY RUN COMPANY FILLED WITH INCOMPETENT IDIOTS WITH NO ACTUAL CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. DONT GO HERE LENSCRAFTERS AT LEAST GIVES GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE

"Lack of professional and knowledgeable service. "
"They advertise 2 pairs for "x.****" then hit you with 40$ PER LENS for anti-scratch/reflective coating. You walk out thinking you got 4 pairs of glasses for $410 and when you go to pick them up you find out you only get 2 pairs"
"This by far has to be the worst place to go . The staff seem to be very snarky towards each other . My glasses were made incorrectly. When asked to have them made correctly, the price changed by $150. One pair of frames were too tight, the other had incorrect lenses. When asked to speak to the manager, they said she was not available and would be available in 3 days. After I kept asking questions, I was asked to the leave the store. They have both my deposit money and both pairs of glasses. There was no resolution to this problem today. completely unacceptable. The Terrell, Tx location is awful!"
"In 2019 I bought perscritpion sunglasses and regular glasses. When I picked them up I complained that the sunglasses were to dark and was told their sunglasses they are suppose to be dark. I went back 2 times to complain I could not wear them they were to dark and again was told they were sunglasses.
I went back in Oct 2019 and again bought sunglasses and regular glasses. I should them the previous sunglasses and the rep looked at them and called the manager and they said they were way to dark they were blocking 95% of light. Of course they made no effort to correct the problem nor offer a discount on the new ones. I bought the new sunglasses and the regular glasses and have had to go back 10 times in 10 months to get something repaired that fell off life nose pieces or screws holding the lens in. I complained to the store manager who gave me their corporate customer service and I called them 2 times was on hold for over 45 minutes. The second call I left a message and it has been 4 weeks and no call back. I was told by the manager that glassses were like a car and needed routine maintenance. I have worn glasses for 45 years and never had go back 10 times for repairs. I will never buy from them again. Buyer beware. Price sounds good but no customer service and no fixing problems."
