"I placed 3 orders, one which did not go through to American eagle's system yet I was still charged to my credit card. They told me to replace the order by calling them. I asked for another option to replace order as my phone doesnt make international calls. They said calling is the only option. I then contacted my bank to cancel the payment and tell them to investigate. While this incident was happening, American eagle decided to randomly cancel my 2nd order without my request and they refunded me only $3 of the payment for that particular item.
They are very unprofessional in communicating with their customers."
"I would give 0 stars if I could. I entered the wrong shipping address when I placed my order online. About 12 hours later I realized my mistake and called to change the ship to. I was told that after an hour you cannot change anything on the order. The order had not shipped out yet, but they still would not change the shipping information. I explained that I will not get the order at the delivery address it's being sent to. They said I would have to wait for it to be returned and then they could ship it out again. Even though the order hasn't left the warehouse and they are aware the address is incorrect , they are still sending it. This is creating more work for everyone, including me. HORRIBLE customer service. Don't buy from them!"

I ordered from American Eagle Outfitters. I ordered 8 items. 1 was supposed to be shipped separate which I received. 7 were supposed to be shipped in a box which arrived opened, with only a tee shirt inside. I contacted them and they told me that there was NOTHING that could be done, that because the package said it weighed 6.6lb they were in there when I received them which they were NOT. I contacted UP''s and was told only the sender could file a claim. These were gifts for my husband and my Secret Santa I got dragged into doing this year that I COULDN'T even afford at this time. I received a Tee Shirt and a Sweater I have now technically paid $248 for. I hope they can live with their selves for this. They have lost a customer for good!"
"Avoid from making any purchase from American Eagle Outfitters AT ALL COST!!! Why? It's because they scammed me.
Here's my story: last night, I discovered that American Eagle Outfitters was having a clearance on their website via social media and I decided to reward myself with some brand new clothing. I went on their website and started to browse around and found a nice pair of chino and a flannel shirt. I placed them in my cart and then proceeded to checkout. But then I discovered that I could get 25% off my order if I use their mobile app to checkout (it was on a banner). So, I decided to install the app onto my smartphone and then went to the checkout to only discovered that I needed to shop more to get the discount... Okay... I decided to shop more and add more things to my cart, and the message still persisted for me to shop more to get the discount. What in the world...? I decided that it was not worth the time to decipher the false advertisement and just checkout.
However, I then discovered another advertisement where if I applied for their store credit card, I could get a discount on my order! Woohoo; so being a frugal guy that I am, I applied for their credit card via their website online only to discovered that I had to make a phone call... Uh, okay? So, I called the number that was provided on my screen and I ended up waiting for a LONG time until a person finally picked up and made me go through some nuisance security tests before I could finally get my darn credit card.
But then I found out something terrible. I WON'T GET TO USE THE CREDIT CARD UNTIL IT'S DELIVERED TO ME. Seriously? Really? American Eagle Outfitters pretty much scammed me of my credit score in applying for their store credit to not being able to use it until I get it in 1-2 weeks... A bunch of bull****. You know, they could've like... I don't know, STATED THAT IN THE AD BANNER. Instead of being vague, they should've put that out there in BOLD lettering. Other stores don't do this. Macy's doesn't do this. Best Buy doesn't do this. When you apply for a store credit card, you should have it INSTANTLY. So, thanks for dropping down my credit score and doing a hard check on my credit report.
ANYWAYS, once I got my credit card, I finally went back through the checkout again ONLY to find out that one of my item in my card WENT OUT OF STOCK. Are you serious? Can this night get any worse? SO, I had to find another item that was similar because I really wanted one and added it to my card.
After that whole fiasco was done, I finally tried to checkout again and paid via PayPal and everything went through.
PHEW!!! It's all over right? I can just wait and get my stuff now, right?! No, not at all. There is no happy ending to this story. The next day, I woke up to an email saying that my order got canceled to a security issue... ARE. YOU. SERIOUS? Let me copy and paste the email that I got:
"Dear Minh,
To enhance security, your order was pulled for additional verification. For your protection, this order was not allowed to process further and has been canceled. You will not be charged."
WHAT??? What does that even MEAN?! Is that another way of saying, "Oh, hey. The items you ordered last night went out of stock, **** for you." Please, somebody tell me what "enhance security" means? I checkout on their official website, using my PayPal account (which I've use numerous time on other websites recently with no issue), and everything was official and went through correctly. And you're telling me you had to cancel my order because for ENHANCED SECURITY? Is this a damn joke?
Oh, it doesn't end there, my friend. I then decided to call them as it was an option stated in the email.
I called and went through a bunch of robot messages and menu options to a waiting room. After waiting and waiting and listening to the dreadful elevator music, I got hung up. What? I WAITED FOR LIKE AN ETERNITY AND GOT HUNG UP. I tried to call back, and then got a robot telling me that the call hours are over. Oh, yeah. In case you don't know, their call center is only open from 8-5pm EST, Monday - Friday. That's basically 4-1pm PST for ME.
Honestly, I was just done at that time. I've tried my damn best as a consumer to buy some stupid clothes from the website and I just had the worst retail experience that I've ever encountered in my whole entire life.
Oh, I also forgot to mention that they haven't even refunded my money. Yeah, I'm looking at my bank account right now and it's just gone.
In final words, American Eagle Outfitters scammed me with false advertisements about their mobile app discount and applying for a credit score; in which wasting my space on my smartphone and using suspicious permissions and dropping my credit score, and blatantly stealing my money and not returning it.
AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS AT ALL COST!!!"
"Extremely disappointing. I came in to the store in a big hurry to buy shorts for a funeral in town. I went into the change-room with a pair of ray-bans and left without them. I realized within 15 minutes and called the store. Despite the fact that I saw a staff member walk right into my changeroom to clear the room after I left (which I assume is policy), they insisted they didn't find any. Because the pair of sunglasses belonged to a friend of mine and meant a lot to her, I decided to go back into the store after the funeral to let the employees know in person how important they were and left my phone number with them in case any of them had a change of heart. Within 12 minutes I got an awkward voicemail from Kimberly saying that they found my pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses "under a pair of shorts". In the voicemail, Kimberly said they would keep them at the front desk for me until I came to pick them up. I was with family for most of the weekend and got the voicemail after store closing. I went to the store as soon as it opened and was sent to the mall customer service where they should have been dropped off. Customer service said nothing was submitted. I went back to American Eagle to have them call Kimberly. When a staff member called Kimberly, she told us that a woman happened to come by and claim the same pair of ray-ban sunglasses. In general, I like to believe that people are good and honest, but as I walk away from the store thinking back on the timeline of events, I'm finding it impossible. I came into the store after the funeral to drop off my phone number at 2:55 pm. I got the voicemail from Kimberly at 3:07 pm. To believe that a woman came in to the exact same store and lost a pair of the exact same Sunglasses in a 12 minute window is just not plausible. Even in the extremely unlikely chance that this is true, where was my courtesy phone call to let me know to not bother waiting in town for an extra day and coming back to the store. I'm very disappointed in the staff at American Eagle. My family, friends and I have been loyal and frequent customers of American Eagle for many years, but today you turned many loyal brand evangelists into American Eagle haters. Once again, if the staff member at American Eagle has a change of heart, you have my phone number.

"So I order about 10 piece of clothing some jeans, legging and shirts. I was so excited to open the box and try on the clothing and when I released that some clothes fix me really tight and small. I check the sizing I see several of the jean and legging and shirt were an extra small I'm a small and sometime an medium (depends). Not only did I waited more than a week they divided the shipping into two different package and they sent the 1st box to the right address but the 2nd package was sent to the billing address. All I can can recommend is don't order online it's a horrible experience! NEVER ORDERING ONLINE AGAIN!

I drove and call all of the post office and ups store because I received an email saying that it was at one of these location but when I called no knew nothing so I continued with my search I found nothing. I called costumer service (what I should of done in the beginning) and the women I talked to gave me attitude and couldn't answer why my package where sent to different address. My first time buying from this brand and my last."
"It's the first time I have bought from American eagle (UK store) and I won't be doing it again. I ordered express delivery for a top in the sale and over a week later than it's delivery date it still hasn't arrived. I also never got an order confirmation as their email system was down so it was lucky I took a screenshot of my order number when the transaction processed on the website.
Whenever I have got in touch with customer service they have been very vague- first they couldn't give me any date at all for the shipping of my item as they had problems with the warehouse and now they have given me the vague idea that it may be shipped sometime this week, after I initiated. However, going on what's happened so far I think I will be probably waiting longer than that for the item. I'm really disapppinted with this level of service and, as I said, won't be using this company again. "
"I spent a good deal of time on their app choosing what to purchase with a gift card I had been given. Once I had gone I checkout, I was informed that nearly half of the items I had put in my cart were out of stock and I would have to remove them. There was no indication on the item when I put it in my cart that it was out.
Even after that, I had many issues trying to check out, despite having filled in all the proper information boxes. I then tried going to their regular site to see if that would work, but all that happened is that it would say my order was processing, and then go back to my checkout screen, without a confirmation that the order had been processed. I checked my email just to be sure that it hadn't sent me any kind of confirmation, and it hadn't. I tried checking out on the app again, only to be told that the payment information wasn't complete (it was though, all the giftcard info was there.). I have yet to be able to check out after many tries, and attempts to reach out to customer service have been useless.
I can't get any of the remaining items in my cart in a store as they were "online only" items. Very disappointed. I suppose if they don't want my money, that is fine."
"On Oct 4, 2016, I ordered 2 items ($49.20 for each before tax) & on sale 25% (order number: 63383407) & I received an electronic receipt charging me $83.91. I decided to buy 2 more same items for my friends (order #: 63384260), again they billed me same amount $83.91. Today, I've checked my account & realized that they had charged me $110.21 for each order instead of $83.91. I called their customer service & she tried to explain that was a conversion between US & Canadian currencies. That was not honest because in the electronic receipt it didn't say I was billed in USD & beside in the store this item costs only 49.20$ (without adding 25% on sale). We are the regular clients of AE, but we have never bought online & it was a very bad experience with their online service. We wouldn't buy online if it was not on sale 25%. We definitely say NO to AE in the future. NO MORE! "
"Due to internal errors, which I was never given an explanation for, I ended up placing 3 orders with American eagle, resulting in over $600 of pre-authorization charges on my bank account. For anyone not familiar, those charges tie up your account for about a week, so you're not able to use your money during that time for other needs. They never were able to complete any order, despite multiple attempts and 2 hours on the phone with customer service. The discount offered on my 3rd attempt and expedited shipping were both ignored, and the only thing they could offer was canceling the 3rd order and placing a 4th, resulting in yet more pre-authorization charges, which I can simply no longer afford to keep accruing. Doesn't seem like a few pairs of jeans with overnight shipping should be that complicated, should it? Apparently even the supervisors there are unable to fill my order, leaving me with $600 missing from my account and no clothes to show for it. I'm going out of town and needed the jeans for the trip. Now I have no money in my account when I need it and no clothes to take with me. Will definitely never shop with this company again! !!"
"This was my first time buying from ae.com and it will be my last. I placed the order one week ago and just got an email indicating that my order was cancelled. The reason given was that the item was was sold out. If it was sold out, why was I able to add the item to the cart and complete the checkout process followed by no word or communication for an entire week? The bizarre part is, when I searched for the item on the website, the exact size and color is still available! I have no idea how these guys manage inventory. Never again will AEO have my business!!"
"Oh wait, that's right... I never got one! On Monday I ordered a $100 order. I did two day shipping as I needed these items for Thursday and didn't want to pay through the roof for overnight. I ordered these items BEFORE their "cut off" for shipping for the day. Monday passes.. It's now Tuesday. Order is STILL not shipped. I call. I get told my best option is to purchase the same items for overnight shipping and return the original order when that comes in. Sounds great! I re purchase everything I ordered. Even added a few more things. I missed the cut off. That's fine that's my fault, but it's overnight! It'll still get here Thursday! Wrong again. Here I am. It's Thursday. 4PM. NEITHER of my orders have been shipped to me. Over a year ago I was in a horrible relationship. This weekend I am spending a few days away with a guy who treats me so. So well. And I just wanted to look nice. And as someone who has extreme anxiety. Being told each day oh it'll be sent tomorrow. There Thursday at 3! Oh we had a system problem Tuesday it'll be sent tomorrow you'll get it Thursday. Being told oh another issue last night! When uh.. If you had an issue with overnights Tuesday why didn't those orders go out first thing Wednesday? I don't know about you but that seems uh.. Logical? Yup no that's fine over $200 later and NOTHING to show for it. "Oh we'll refund your shipping!" That's great thanks, that doesn't fix the issue YOU guys screwed up and my stuff is STILL not here. Thank you for the anxiety attacks all week and for your lack of consideration. As a customer for many years, I will not be returning back. And yeah, I know you don't care. I could tell by your voice on the phone. But you could at least act like it. Worst customer service I have EVER received. "
