"I placed an order for a motorcycle battery 3-5-11. I had originally considered the shipping as slow. I received the battery damaged during shipping. I called the company and they sent out a replacement a day or two after my call. If I recall correctly I received the replacement battery last week. With 2 orders placed, (the original, and the replacement), I had received the 2nd battery on 3-17-11. Only 12 days total. Great customer service, we will use them again. "
"Tracking was comical, and they were a little slow to ship, but I did get the right part.
After ordering on Wednesday, I received a confirmation email which said "You can always find out the current status of your order by going to" an order.store.yahoo.net url. In practice, this url was not very useful. The page gave no tracking number and there was never indication that any action was being taken.
I wanted to be sure the UPS battery I ordered would be shipped in a timely manner, so I called two days later. Their rep, Ray, said that my order had been "sent to the warehouse," as if this answered my question. When I pressed him for the actual status of the order, he told me the warehouse was in Michigan (which wass good news because that would mean 1 day UPS ground), and he would call the warehouse and email me about the order. Surprisingly given his initial unresponsiveness, he followed through. "Our warehouse verified to us that This order was sent yesterday and it should be shipping today." This apparently means that it took them an entire day just to get the order to the warehouse, but because Michigan is close, that would mean the battery would arrive Monday.
Wednesday afternoon, with no battery and no status update on the yahoo page, I called again. Wednesday's rep said the package should be delivered that day, but I asked her to email me the tracking number anyway. She cheerfully did so, and the package arrived a few hours later. As it turns out, the battery was shipped on Friday, but from from Texas instead of Michigan.
As I prepared to write this review a full day after delivery, I checked the yahoo status page again, and it now shows the tracking number. This is obviously too late to be useful, but at least it shows intent.
Apex claims "Most orders received by 12:00 EST are shipped the same day via UPS, Fed Ex or Local Truck Courier." I ordered a UPS battery at 1:15 on Wednesday and it wasn't shipped until Friday.
I ordered another battery from Apex three years ago, and while I don't remember any details of that transaction, that means it went well.
My overall impression is that this is a relatively small web-based business that outsources most functions. I suspect that some or all of their "20 warehouses" are actually drop shippers. I also got the impression that their customer service reps might actually work for call centers handling many small businesses. But I wouldn't rule out ordering from them again someday. I was able to understand both of their CS reps, and English was obviously the second one's native tongue. And the battery was exactly the part it was supposed to be. "
"Purchased replacement batteries for an APC battery backup. The batteries lasted 1 year and a couple days, just long enough to not be covered under their warranty. Contacted Apex Battery and they had zero flexibility. Would not replace the batteries even though they failed just a few days outside of the warranty. Definitely would not recommend doing business with this company. "
"Rating: 1 Star
Ordered Universal UPS Battery UB1290HR(Item # U-D5779) on 10/27/09.
Unfortunately this item is not a true UB1290 battery, which is rated at 9 amp hours, instead it's an 8 amp battery. The picture shows a UB1280, which I would have seen that before placing my order. Advertising is deceiving.
I have sent 2 emails to Apex Battery, but there has been no response is several days. Not holding my breath.
Hope this helps someone else."
"I ordered a battery for my cordless phone. I wasn't sure which product to choose. My e-mail to Customer Service Help was answered promptly, and the order arrived superfast. Great transaction. I will order from this company without hesitation again."
"Straightforward purchase that worked ok. Ordered a UBC1213 battery July 3, and received it on July 9. Good performance given the holiday weekend. Battery takes a charge and seems to be fine so far."
"After getting a recommendation from a Vmax motorcycle site, I ordered a Panasonic LCX1220p fromapex using Paypal. What I received a few days later is a battery called a rhino sla17-12. This battery is a cheap chinese replace, ent, and not the quality Japanese battery I ordered. After this I sent multiple emails over a period of months, which all have been ignored. This company has no such thing as customer service, and are obviously crooks."
"VERY Deceptive business practices. Their price for a Tripp-Lite Omnismart 725 UPS Battery looks great.....but you need two, one is useless, there is NO mention on their site that this device requires TWO batteries. My options...return the one battery at MY cost or order another one.....Next Stop Anaheim CA BBB."
"I ordered what I thought was a retractable Palm Treo 750 USB sync/data cable for $9.95, shipping was $5.95 for a total of $15.90. When the cable arrived and I hooked my phone to my laptop I couldn't get the phone to synchronize with MS Active Sync on any of the available 4 USB ports. I even tried it on another computer with no luck. I called ApexBattery.com to get a RMA to send it back and they wanted to charge me a %20 restocking fee plus I would have to pay for shipping it back. So I would end up getting back $4.00 out of the $15.90 that I initially paid! Yet another example of a shady online business charging exhorbitant shipping prices and restocking fees. I will never make another purchase from this company again and I suggest those reading this review do the same."
"Very unhappy and frustrated with my (attempted) order from Apex Battery. Tried to order a projection lamp for my Mitsubishi TV. searched all over the web for the particular part number, provided by Mitsubishi. Came across Apex. Not THE cheapest, but cheaper than many.
Long story short, they sent me then completely wrong part. I verified my order many, many times to be correct.
I had to return the wrong part, wait for my money to be refunded and then attempt to order again. Well, when I went to reorder, the part had gone up $100 in price!!!! They said that originally there was an error in their database and my (completely correct) part number was referenced against the wrong part. They also said that, (conveniently) they no longer carry the lamp only. You have to buy the entire housing!
So, at the worst, it was a bait and switch. At best it was carelessness/negligence as it pertains to their inventory management and shipping oversight.
From my perspective, I've been 3 weeks without my TV now and had my money tied up for 2 of those 3 weeks. Their support people were pleasant, but a little unresponsive at first. It was not until I had called 3 times and got a little pushy that I started getting returned calls. They were definitely polite and 'understanding', but ultimately, from a consumer perspective, it was not a good transaction at all - bottom line!
I'd advise you to be very careful when ordering as there could very likely be other 'errors' in their inventory database."
"I ordered online and got the battery in two days with good correspondence in between.
I would order from this vendor again without reservation."
"Great people to do business with. Found what we needed easily and ordering was a breeze. Apex shipped the batteries out that day. Now that is service!! We got our batteries in two days. SWEET!
We will buy our batteries again from APEX!"
