"I ordered a spa heater online from this company over a month ago and never recieved any type of order confirmation. I tried to contact the company using the email addresses and phone number on the website and got no response. The phone had been disconnected. After about 2 weeks, my spa water was becoming stagnant and I was afraid the water was going to freeze because I couldn't run the spa without a heater. I checked with my bank and my account had not been charged for the part. At this point I assumed that the company had closed down and I would have to get part elsewhere. I bought the part locally and installed it. The next day, the part from Mid America arrived. I called again and finally got someone at the fax number from the website He told me that the company had been sold but he would contact them and get an address to return the part to. The next day I recieved an email from Mid America with a return address. I sent the package and again, the company didn't respond to my first 2 emails. The third email elicited a response.
Here it is:
"You were credited yesterday! should show up on your card in a couple of days. Paul"
The account was finally credited on Dec. 26. But it was only a partial credit. They apparently, charged me a $25. restocking fee plus shipping charges. This is about 1/3 of the price of the item. I do not feel that I am at fault here and should not be charged a restocking fee. I did everything I could to verify that the order went through before buying another heater. I shouldn't have to pay shipping charges but offered to pay them just to get the issue resolved. Once again, the company is not responding. Stay away from these people. The website is called "Mid America Parts" by "Midwest Pump". My bank account was charged to "Appliance Parts of America". My guess is they are all one and the same shady company.
I have no invoice number because I never got a confirmation and never opened the box when it arrived. I do have all the email correspondence."
