"I have been ordering from AFG for years now, most of the time very satisfied. This past year, I have found that more items are out of stock than the items in stock. They were out of mochi for months before the new year and remained so thru the season. That is almost unforgiveable. I did send emails and left voice messages several times and never received a return. I do think that Asian Food Grocer may be going out of business... what a shame."

"I found this site because I am no longer within a reasonable distance from oriental stores. The prices are definitely a lot higher than what I am used to paying. Overall, I'd say the prices are better than not having access to the products. Their selection is relatively limited and they don't offer Korean or Southeast Asian products. Additionally, at the time of my order in Jan 2014, a lot of items I would have purchased were out of stock.

My order was processed a shipped out a lot later than expected. I had to speak with a CS rep twice and my order finally got shipped out after several days. When my order finally arrived, it arrived in good time and I received all of my items. The dates on all items were reasonable.

I will definitely shop with them again and I hope their stock is improved/replenished. "

"I never received my product. I received my package without the knife in it. I contacted the website through email. AsianFoodGrocer insist that they have a "secure procedure warehouse in place and items scan indicates they were process". I'm letting other people know do not buy more than 3 items at a time in one package, most likely 1 or 2 items will never make it to you like what happened to me. If an item goes missing you will not get a refund either. Expect to loose money if you order more than 1 product at a time."

So far, it's the only online Asian food store that I have tried. First time was excellent, now I'm waiting for the second package to be delivered.
Pros:
Very reasonable price. Much cheaper than the price you can find in the small section of Asian food in supermarket.
Variety. Next best thing to having Asian food store in the neighbor. It's still far from variety you can find in Japan (who didn't know?)
Reasonable shipping cost. Minimum shipping cost will be somewhere between $7.- & $8.-. So far, I haven't made big purchase yet but at under $30.- worth of food, shipping was $8.30. Even if you buy$50.- or $100.-, the shipping cost won't be that much different.
Fast delivery. Not only fast, they are very good at sending information of tracking. You get Email each step of the order being processed. In my opinion, that's the way it should be but so many other online stores don't.

Cons:
As you can imagine, you can't buy fresh food such as sashimi. They sell some food needs refrigeration but costs more for the shipping. I don't know how much cost more, I have never tried.
Variety, I already mentioned, is not good if you are spoiled by living in Japan before. I wish they had more variety of tsukudani(marinated small fish, konbu and just about anything), pickles etc. You know the commoner's food? They have the islefull of variety in Japan.

If you haven't tried, I highly recommend this store. I have sent my question in Email, they are good at replying too."
