repossession of my car they checked

"I purchased a car back in October 2018. From a seller on Facebook market place. We went and viewed the car and agreed on a deal of a px and cash. We did a hpi report through total car check. That use experian autocheck as its main data source. Well it came back clear. 10 months later a knock at the door. A police man and a balif. Come to carry out a repossession of the car as it had a outstanding finance from Feb 2017. Thanks experian. I called there help team they said it was still clear. Customer service is shocking They finally after several weeks of emails and calls they never returned. Finally wrote to me saying sorry but we're not liable as you paid more that £1000 in cash out on the vehicle. What a total joke. Morale of this story is choose hpi. We've now lost £3,600 and can't get any of it back. They quote terms and conditions that are hidden behind total car checks main page in a sub page that not in plain sight and accessible unless you follow links from that page. In all not very helpful won't waste my money on any reports if my future car is worth more than £1000 "

Autocheck Unfortunately Hasn't Proven Themselves To Be a Credible

"I was hoping that Autocheck would be a credible competitor to Carfax . . . Which is pretty expensive. Unfortunately, from the 5 VIN numbers I attempted to search, 3 notified me "We're sorry: We can't find that car" yet when I did a preliminary search with Carfax, I was given back the car make and model. Also, I've noticed that the mileage documentation isn't as complete as Carfax. My conclusion is that Experian is not serious about maturing Autocheck. It's a poor reflection on the parent company which is supposed to be about accurate data! "

BEWARE - OR IT WILL COST YOU $$$$$

" Last year, in June of 2018, I Purchased a stunning 2006 Mercedes Benz SLK280 in mint looking condition with only 13,000 mile, from a dealer who provided me with an AutoCheck vehicle history which reflected no accidents, no damage and a score of 86. I attempted to trade in the vehicle last week, July of 2019 - only a year later. The dealer ran a CarFax on the vehicle and it revealed there was damage to the car in 2013 and repaired in 2014. None of this was reflected in the report generated by AutoCheck. I called them and they explained that their information is not always up to date. Not up to date? The damage was reported in 2013 - FIVE YEARS before they provided me a report saying no damage. FIVE YEARS! What is the point of paying for a vehicle history that has a FIVE YEAR , at least - delay in getting information? The report is useless to any consumer. And their incompetence just cost me about 7 grand. The public has a right to know the scam this company is and I plan on going to the news for it to be out there. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY."

Carfax was more thorough

"There were non-accident related damages that showed up on car histories on a few cars under Carfax that Autocheck did not show. Autocheck did not add any value and was worse than Carfax for me. When I asked for a refund in the chat (that is all they have), I was denied."

False information

"Auto Check has my car as being in a accident and it never was. They will not reply to my emails to correct. Never ever will sell a car thru a web site that uses Auto Check."

Ghosts

"Auto check has my mileage 9,000 higher than it is. I was told to trade my car I would have to get them to correct their oddly wrong number. During work I held for 1:04 minutes, disconnected then 47 minutes, no answer, oh and no weekend hours of course!
Thanks to them my trade isn’t being accepted.
If mileage is wrong, who knows what other bad info they are reporting.

Image yourself arguing with a brick wall - AutoCheck customer service is the worst experience I have every had

"As a full time nurse and mom with previous experience in customer service, I know how to make a person feel like a person. Experian AutoCheck not only had false accidents reported TWICE on my vehicle, but when I thoroughly tried to plead my case all they could manage was the same two rehearsed lines. It was the most disrespectful encounter I have ever experienced. I paid $50 additionally for police reports to find that the vehicle VIN nor description nor the tag matched my car yet "AutoCheck's sources confirmed the accidents." When I asked to speak to managers I was placed on hold for 23 minutes 45 seconds. When I sent the police record to them for the report to be removed it took another 20 minutes to get handled and they did not send my confirmation without me having to call again the next day. They experience was so bad my husband and I bought from a different company.

I'll say that again - we refused to use CarMax because they use Experian AutoCheck and the experience was so terrible we chose a different truck. WOW. I hope that anyone reading this takes it to heart and reconsiders any use of this FRAUDULENT company.

Everyone included in this experience was: CARINA, VERONICA, CAROLINA AND SUZANNE

Lost credibility

"I have used autocheck as a reference when i bought my three cars (a Tahoe, a Merc. And a Toyota).
I renewed my subsc. To check the report of a new car and I got an error msg instead of the report everytime I tried to retreive it.
I sent 2 emails to autocheck asking for help but they did not bother to answer till now. It has been 1 week.
I will not ask for a refund because I know it is a waste of time but I will spend my free time writing reviews about their terrible service everytime I have the chance.

RIDICULOUS! I HOPE YOU SEE THIS AND DON'T BOTHER

"COMPLETELY MISLEADING SITE. DO NOT BOTHER. YOU CAN GO TO OTHER SITES, PAY $2.95 AND GET THE SAME EXACT INFORMATION. I CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AND THEY ARE UTTERLY USELESS.

THIS COMPANY IS OWNED BY EXPERIAN WHICH EXPLAINS WHY THEY DON'T OFFER A SATISFACTION GUARANTEE LIKE OTHER SITES.

Don't bother, not worth the money,

"Autocheck gives generic information, mainly from DMV, nothing in details, I bout Autocheck to examine a vin number for a vehicle That I am interested in, no detailed information with autoCheck, I had to buy Carfax for the same Vin. O.M.G day and night, I was able to get the information for services and records, thanks to carFax , I don't recommend Autocheck to anybody, I tried to contact their customer service, no phone number to call, e-mail only slow respond "Laura" and she tells me you are on you own !!!!!! you get what you pay for."

AVOID AVOID AVOID

"I purchased a report for $25 about a used car. The report tells me the car has a "odometer" problem and an "accident" report. When you try to get details, the website gives a generic answer and no vehicle-specific details. I.e.: Odometer problems tells you the odometer reports the vehicle milage, etc. Nearly worthless."

"So these guys suck. The report on my car that I'm attempting to sell says :"Auto Auction AUCTION ANNOUNCED AS FRAME DAMAGE"

There is no record of any accident...nor have I had any issues in 5 years / 90k miles I've owned the car. However, they cannot remove this 'decree' without the auction company's approval. Ok...that's fair. BUT they will NOT tell me who the auction company that made that decree on my car is...nor will they contact them to verify it was not made in error.

Worse yet, they will not accept anything short of the auction removing the notation as proof the car has never had frame damage. Which of course they're never doing...they don't remember the car from 5 minutes ago much less 5 years ago. Looks like I'm shafted.

Now I've been to plenty of auctions in my life (I work in a related industry) and I know that no mass auction company inspects anything. That's the ENTIRE POINT OF AN AUCTION....buyer beware. The idea that some random and potentially inaccurate decree from an auction company, that they won't identify, can devalue a car is absurd.

Worse yet is I PAID FOR THEIR SERVICE...but they cannot disclose who is destroying my car's value...despite it being one of their affiliated auctions.

I know where you're going...I had a Carfax when I bought the car and it showed nothing. : (

"Wow, the price sure went up since the last time I shopped for a used car. In 2010 I paid $15 for a single report and in 2008 their price was $25 for unlimited reports for 60 days. This was in comparison to Carfax, which I believe was $30 for only 30 days. Now Carfax doesn't even offer unlimited reports and AutoCheck charges $45 for 30 days and $30 for one report! Can it be that their cost of doing business has gone up that much in a matter of a few years? Of course not. It's just greed and a lack of major competition.

There are a couple other companies that offer single checks for a lot less than the major players (eg checkthatvin.com, instavin.com), but AutoCheck seems to be the only one that still offers unlimited reports for a certain number of days, which is the only service I would find useful when shopping for a used car.
