"I used to live on the east coast near a dealership that typically offered a 30% discount of MSRP on the parts that they sold through the web store. The parts manager would sometimes honor that price too for parts I ordered over the counter. When I moved to the Denver area I was sad to see that my new local dealerships had only a 10% or 15% online sales discount. Subaru OEM parts are very expensive, often for seemingly no reason where a random small piece of plastic for a 20 year old car will be priced in the hundreds of dollars. So the discounts are very helpful.
Now it appears that Autonation Subaru West has decided to remove their flat 15% discount and merely sell parts at MSRP. This means it's actually cheaper to buy parts and have them shipped from Texas for instance, where the dealership still offers a 30% discount. I liked having the convenience of picking up the parts I ordered at the local parts counter, but it's simply not worth it anymore."
