"A warning to potential customers of Azteca Computers:

I was looking for a recently discontinued computer motherboard, which was no longer being sold by the major online resellers. I used a google.com search for resellers of this particular motherboard. I found Azteca Computers http://www.aztecacomp.com in which they listed it in stock.

Right away, I was a little reluctant to purchase from this reseller, as the payment was to go through Paypal, which has less buyer protection than credit card orders. I decided to go ahead and order it anyway.

Immediately after the Paypal transfer, I asked for an order confirmation. I received a short "thank you for your order", but I did not
hear anything from them for two weeks.

At that time, I sent the owner/manager, James Arce ****@**** an email message requesting a status update. At my prompting, he responded and claimed the motherboard had just been shipped, and that, because he was such
a nice guy, he had paid for shipping free of cost. He then quoted a delivery time "from 4 to 6 weeks".

Paypal specifically prohibits sellers to set delivery dates further than 20 days from the date of payment. I brought this to Mr. Arce's attention, which he took as a personal insult, suggestive of a "You don't trust me???" attitude. My concern was that Paypal buyer complain forms must be filled out within 30 days from the date of the payment. I could not wait out 4-6 weeks and still have the option of protecting myself through Paypal.

I told him that I wanted to cancel my order, and that, for his trouble, I said he could keep $15.93 (of the total of $115.93) for his troubles. He refused this offer.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and waited until the last possible day to fill out a Paypal buyer complaint form. He did not reply to or address the complaint, so I was awarded $1.76, of the original $115.93. Azteca Computer is located in Canada, and the Paypal status is conveniently International Unverified, which limits Paypal's effectiveness in reversing
payments.

I have not heard from him since, and have since filed a report with the Canadian Better Business Bureau, and am posting this message in the aim that others may benefit from my experience.
