"When I bought my camera, the Best Buy salesperson promised an easy exchange if something were to happen: First Lie

I called the American Fork, UT Best Buy from 200 miles away. They told me to "bring the camera in and [they'd] exchange it." I drove 200 miles to get it replaced (I was on vacation). I even told them I was going to drive 200 miles and they assured me that they'd "take care of me" They wouldn't replace it. Second Lie

They said they had to send it in for repairs and it would be shipped to me in 6 weeks!! I was on vacation and needed a camera and they said the only thing I could do was buy another camera and return it (and pay a 15% restocking fee that they refused to waive)
I tried to buy my exact same camera and they said none of the Best Buys in the area carried it. Third Lie.

They ended up getting the camera back. It had not been fixed. The repair shop told them to replace it. They said I had to come to the store in order for them to exchange it. I said I live a thousand miles away and they promised to ship it to me. So after 4 weeks, they are shipping my broken camera back to me. They said they'd ship it immediately. Fourth Lie.

I called them and they said they'd check their warehouse to see if it shipped and call me back in the afternoon or next morning. Fifth Lie.

Still haven't received my broken camera (or a phone call back).

Heed this warning: Best Buy employees will say anything to a customer as long as they get them out of their hair as fast as possible. Even if they just don't know what the terms of the protection plan are, they will simply just tell you what you want to hear...until you drive 200 miles . I am not exaggerating this story...I was lied to by everyone. They should be ashamed.

"Worst customer service EVER. Don't ever, ever shop here. I recently paid for a dishwasher. It would take pages and pages to list all the mistakes, missed installation appointments, scheduling errors, long hold times on the phone, and calls to the store where no one picks up.

After 3 weeks of trying to get my "2nd day delivery" completed, I marched in last night and got my money back. Consistent with the rest of my experience, getting a refund was needlessly complex and took 45 minutes. I wish I had read all the reviews here before purchasing! Lesson learned!

"Horrible experience. Needed a canon camera right now, so I opted for store pickup and went with best buy. Price was higher than most others. Received the "confirmation in-stock" email as promised about 30 min later. When I went to the store it was a different story. Was told they don't have one. A few calls and some chatter, and "OK, we have one for you." Was brought a different camera. Didn’t want to argue, refused it and left. Phoned and asked for a different store pickup. Went to that store next day. Was brought correct camera but open box and obviously beat-up from handling. Blank stare from clerk and says "I don’t think its been opened." Eventually offered another one, however, (again) wrong one. Finally got correct one and made pickup. When I inspected camera there is a seal over the box which says "15% restocking fee if opened." I would have been paying that fee if I returned the first one, which was open when I picked it up. Second time bad experience. Denials and hassles all around. Had I not needed it for a gift immediately I would have definitely gone elsewhere. Never again. "

"I would have to say the online ordering is a joke i orderd a video card on 5-2-2010 the site said 1-2 days shipping (note this is mon-fri) it does not say that also it says your cc will not be charged till the order is shiped not true what they dont tell you is any online order you only have 1 hour to cancell 1HOUR!!!! "

"On March 24th I ordered a refurbished IM600 for $79. The website showed it was in stock and would ship the next day.

Several days later the order still hadn't shipped, even though the product still showed in stock.

When I enquired on March 30th I was told it wasn't in stock and would probably ship in the next few days.

On April 1st I received an automated email that the item was out of stock.

On April 5th I noticed that there was a new item listed on the website that was also a refurbished IM600, the same item I had ordered that was now out of stock. But this new items was $40 more expensive. I requested one of those to be shipped against my order, but I was told that the item I had originally ordered was now in stock and would ship in the next few days.

On April 7th I asked again about the order and was told again that it would ship in the next 2 days.

Later that same day I received another email saying the item was not in stock and that they would contact me as soon as inventory was received.

On April 9th I received another automated email saying the item was out of stock.

On April 12th I again requested that a refurbished IM600 stocked under the other item listing be shipped against my order. The reply explained that I could order that other item and cancel my current order. But it couldn't be shipped against my original order.

Then today, April 13th I received an email explaining that the part would never be available, my order had been cancelled.

They offered me 5 digital dollars for my trouble. But really, they either didn't have it in stock at all, or (and this is what I expect happened) they transfered the stock to the new part number at the higher price to get more $ out of their customers.

Bad website, bad sales practices, bad customer service. I won't be buying from Best Buy for a long, long time.

"I have ordered "Logitech-G27 Racing Wheel for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 or Windows-941-000045" with an advertised price of $150 in March 28, 2010. Item was back ordered at the time of buying. Today, 2nd of April, I have received an email saying that my order is cancelled. I did not approve any cancellation. I called the customer service. In first attempt, operator hung up the phone to my face. Second, could not do anything, and third operator said she is so sorry.

I paid with paypal, and to receive money back, it takes time.

I know that some stores have that item in stock.

PLEASE be aware that this company can advertise low prices, and they do NOT deliver anything to you, and cancel your order without approval.

Huge dissatisfaction. I will not buy any single item from Best Buy again.

"i ordered an itunes gift card over the phone. i was visiting a city for a week so i had it shipped to a temporary address. the item did not come on time, so my friend had to pick it up. he never did as far as i know. so i asked if they could check to see if the card had been used so they could send me another one and they couldn't because the archives delete a lot of stuff 30 days after your order. best buy is good for accidental insurance on products, not over the phone stuff."

"I ordered on 3/12/2010. It was expensive shipping, but I had a gift certificate, so I purchased from them anyway. It said it would ship in 2-5 days (which is long, but again I had the gift certificate). On 3/20 I called them because it had not even shipped and they said they had no idea what was happening with my order, and they cannot cancel it. Their best guess is it will ship in another 2-3 days. It is 3/22 and the order hasn't even shipped yet, and I cant cancel. This is absurd for a large company. "

"i reported a non working oven on 2/19/10 with a 5 yr service contract from best buy called them and set up appiontment for tues.2/23/10 tech. came and had to order parts he said 3 to 5 buisness days for the parts to arrive so i waited, he came back with a broken part on 3/8/10 and said i have to wait another 3-5 buisness days i called back best buy and explained to them that i cannot wait any longer i have kids and have to buy food everyday when i spoke to a supervisor she told me that she cannot help me......
a week later i called back 3/15/10 and they told me that the part has not shipped yet and its gonna ship overnight so i told them i will wait,
next day 3/16/10 almost 1 month after first reported the problem they told me its not shipped so i told i cannot wait any longer i paid almost 2K for this range and you leave a costumer for a month with a broken range so they transfer me to a supervisor she told me again that i have to wait again 3-5 buisness days for part to ship i explained to her that its a big company and i am sure they have a part to use for now and when the part arrives they will replace thair stock she said they cannot do that even for a custumer waiting that long so i said i will let everybody know on all websites she said she will call me back in 4 hrs....
after 6 hrs nobody called me so i called supervisor told me i have to wait 7-10 days more its very frustrating that they will not do anything for a custumer thats waiting so long when thay take good money for thair service please dont get fooled by them any problem you will be screwed......
thats best buy service wait & wait & wait nobody care for you.........

"Best Buy has been the most dismal experience I've ever had with customer service. I purchased a washer, dryer, and refrigerator from their online store on February 6. They delivered the items on February 13th. On February 15th I called them to report an issue with the refrigerator - it makes a "cricket" sound when the compressor runs. The operator was very courteous and offered to perform an exchange on February 21st.

When the delivery truck showed up on the 21st, the deliverymen came off the truck with a USED refrigerator. It wasn't in a box, wasn't wrapped, and had none of the packing materials with it. The deliverymen explained that it was another customer's return. Of course I refused delivery of a used refrigerator to replace my 8-day old refrigerator.

After the deliverymen left I called Best Buy's customer service to report what had happened and to request that they exchange with a NEW refrigerator. The operator was very pleasant and told me that the delivery company would call in a day or two to schedule a date. The call never came.

I have spent the last month battling Best Buy in an attempt to get them to exchange this refrigerator. After three weeks the Best Buy representative finally told me that you only get one chance to exchange a product and my refusal of the used refrigerator was my only chance to exchange it.

Best Buy will screw you ... beware.

"I bought a Klipsch HDT 500 speaker set from Best Buy on 12/13/09. Since then two speakers have failed. It wasn't until after the failure of the first speaker that I learned that Klipsch speakers bought from Best Buy do not have a Klipsch warranty, even though the owner's manual states Klipsch handles the warranty?

If you return a Klipsch speaker to a Houston Best Buy on Monday for warranty it will sit on their shelf until Thursday. On Thursday a truck will take the item to Dallas and the clock will start. Turnaround time for a warranty is 2 to 4 weeks. Still want to buy your electronics from Best Buy?

"I've had numerous incidents of poor in-store customer service with Best Buy but after speaking to a very friendly customer service representative regarding their .com appliance sales, I decided to take a chance that I would have a better experience purchasing off their website and bought a refrigerator. Big mistake.
Upon delivery (which by the way occurred when the delivery guys showed up unannounced as the warehouse didn't bother to notify us of a delivery time) we discovered that the measurements listed on the website were not accurate and the refrigerator wouldn't fit through our door. Irritating but an easy enough fix--just exchange for a smaller model, right? Oh no. The warehouse didn't bother to update our delivery status so we remained in the system as having taken possession of the refrigerator. The money was not credited to our bank account and therefore we couldn't re-purchase the right sized refrigerator. It took over a week of talking to customer service representatives at least once a day to get the whole mess straightened out...or so we thought.
When we were finally able to order a smaller sized refrigerator they scheduled us for another delivery date a full month after our original purchase. I thought this was ridiculous after our trouble but was just relieved to have it settled. That delivery date would have been today but as I was informed last night after two calls and 20 minutes of hold time, we were rescheduled to the end of the month for reasons unknown.
They had no problem taking the money out right away but never delivered an actual refrigerator. The only thing they have delivered is incompetence and irritation. I was told that no manager was there last night but that one would phone me this morning which of course did not happen. I'll never purchase so much as a DVD at Best Buy ever again.
