Misrepresents itself

"“The future of e-commerce looks promising for small businesses. Let's take a closer look at how independent merchants can continue to sell more and stand out in competition with big-box retailers who also have moved online.” This is from an article that was written in Forbes by Eddie Machaalani who is the executive chariman and then CEO of Bigcommerce, a provider of e-commerce software in 2013.

I would argue that this is a not exactly true. That this company takes advantage of people consecutively and has predatory mind state like every other software as a service based company that simply inflates what it is able to do for it's customers and over promises and under delivers. The core of these hyped up promises start with the API. The API is a way of having systems directly speak to each other without the involvement of a person in the simplest terms.

We are a online retailer that approached big commerce and explained what we do in detail. They assured us that the software would support everything we needed to do in the traditional used car salesman fashion. Sales people desperate for meeting there end of the month quota filled with essentially the desire to get you to sign on the dotted line will do anything.

We signed up to our ignorance and were confronted with huge systematic limitations. Still assured that we could accomplish what we scoped out. According to there online white papers “the API economy can help you streamline your business, build customer loyalty, and increase profitability”. However they have a problematic system with poor performance and rigid constraints that directly were a misrepresentation of there services. They have unclear limitations and poor documentation that is designed to actually prey on small and medium businesses. It would be fair to say they supplied false information for the guidance of a business transaction or failed to exercise reasonable care or competence in obtaining or communicating the information. All of which was billed at 2500 a month.

In looking at customer complaints that are carefully covered by positive reviews we found out we are not the only ones that have complaints about this company but in essence had they just been up front about the limitation it would have saved a headache. It is however easier to just lie to maintain retention.

"Horrible company to deal with!

To date they still got my money which they refuse to refund. I already filled complaints with the BBB wrote them many times. Nobody has bothered to call me or even email me back. The only email I got so far just said ( Your case has been closed )

The lost my business for good.

I would say stay away from these guys! They have treated me like dirt. They will likely treat you the same.

"My customer asked me to use BigCommerce.com. The signup and free trial was nice. But when I used it more and more I was really disappointed. The menus are in top of each other. Once you are in the product page then it is ok but to find where you go I think it needs a little help. The website is too slow but that explains the low package price Bigcommerce.com has to offer. I wanted to use Amazon and Ebay integration but to my surprise this package was offered for more money. After all they are ok to use but I recommend looking for other products out there just like we did."
