"It appears this store has closed. I ordered from then a couple weeks ago and have only gotten one notice from them. No shipping information was sent and when I tried to call, both numbers on the site were disconnected. "So, far I'm not happy with their service. I ordered my item 10 days ago at this writing, and I received an email confirmation that the item shipped to someone else! That right, they shipped the item I orderd and paid for with a credit card to a different person in another state!"
"First, I will say that Big Bang Electronics has competitive prices and they shipped my order quickly but if you have a problem after shipment then you are on your own. My 60" DLP TV arrived with a single flickering white pixel in the left-center part of the screen that I didn't discover until after hooking the TV set up. I immediately notified the owner/salesman at Big Bang who said to schedule a warranty service call and that they probably would just pop in a new light engine on site at my house and I'd be good to go. Well, the serviceman came out, saw the problem, and called the manufacturer. They insisted on hauling the TV in to the shop and taking it apart to do diagnostics before attempting repair. I asked how long this would take and was told it could easily be more than two weeks. This was not acceptable to me so I called my owner/salesman at Big Bang back and told him I wanted to exchange for a non-defective TV under their 30 day "total satisfaction guarantee". From their website: "You can return any item for any reason within the first 30 days". Well, he informed me that this doesn't apply to TV's even though there is no mention of any product exclusions on their website. He said that even though the TV arrived in a defective state I had to deal with the manufacturer since the product was not damaged in shipping.
Update (2/16/05):
After a full week had passed without any contact from the store, I was notified by Big Bang that they would in fact honor my request for an exchange. Since my TV is now almost ready from the repair shop I declined the replacement but I certainly did appreciate the offer anyway. While I was not happy with the store's initial reaction to my problem I am satisfied now that another person there, Jackie, followed up on it in a satisfactory manner. I think now that they are an honest store. "
"I purchased an RCA 44" DLP TV from Big Bang in December. I wasn't able to find too much information about them on the internet, but seeing as they were around for 5 years and had a brick-and-mortar store in Nebraska, I figured it was safe.
The price was fantastic - with the free shipping, easily the best available. The extended warranty was also very cheap - substantially cheaper than a similar warranty from a retail chain.
You get a confirmation number when you order, and either a phone call or e-mail when your item is shipped. The TV was shipped from a distribution center, and even with Christmas chaos I got the information within three days. If you need to, you can call or e-mail them questions and they seem to be very reachable. The owner seemed like a pretty nice guy.
All told, I got a great price on both the TV and the warranty, and I had the TV exactly seven days after I placed my order. Impressive for such a large item. I placed the order Monday and I could've got the item on Saturday, but I didn't know it was available for pickup 24/7. I'd recommend the store highly - the price was too good to pass up, and I'm glad I went with Big Bang."
