"I have done business with Nashbar for decades, maybe from their start. I had a few eras of falling out with them due to issues with their business practices. Maybe a year or two ago, I tried them again and they came through on a couple of items, but lately their business practices have again become terrible and their customer service is appalling. First their customer service brushed me off, then came back with "warm fuzzies" but no actual help, then added bad bait and switch product advice. I ordered tires in November, with a back order date of March. Okay, it is winter and I didn't need the tires in Winter. But they immediately charged my credit card for the tires, which is bad business and maybe illegal. March due date came, and then they just quietly removed ANY reference to ship date. So now it is April and they want to keep using my money without sending me a product, for half a year to a year. I am not a loan company, and I am getting no interest on the loan. Customer Service suggested I switch my order to another tire, which received terrible reviews and wasn't at all similar to what I originally ordered. Suggesting other tires that were also not in stock or were discontinued and not available. So, now it is Spring, and I missed all the Winter sales from other sources, and I am cancelling my order, which loses the sale price I bought the tires with last Fall, and I had to pay full price with limited selection elsewhere, as bike component sales ramp up for Spring. They are now bottom of the list of my sources and they and their parent company really do deserve to go bankrupt. "

"I purchased a $200 gift card for my wife. We used about $80 of it. I went to use it again today and it said the number wasn't valid. I called them and got this very rude agent that told me to basically kick rocks. He essentially said Nashbar went belly up (bankrupt) and stole everyone gift card money. He said they (the owners of Nashbar.com) aren't honoring any gift card no matter what amount. To me that means my money was stolen.
I said I'll have to put this in a review and he told me go ahead, put it on the pile of other negative reviews. And politely told me to F off. So I repeated it back to him and hung up.
If you had a gift card with Nashbar, I suggest you check it right now. Who know what they're going to do or did do with your money. I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them. There are hundreds of other sites out there that will honor a gift card you paid for - this is not the place.
Go elsewhere!!"
"We have a balance bike. I ordered a bike seat that said it was for a balance bike. Well, it is super tiny and doesn't fit.
So now I have to throw it away, because it costs more to ship it back for a refund than the seat costs.
I originally paid 15 for the unit plus 14 for shipping!
Buy on Amazon or other sites that stand behind what they sell and make it easy and free to return something that is incorrect."
"Ordered a bike, waited for weeks for it to get in stock.
Got email that order is canceled because "paypal is unverified". Sure enough paypal wants my checking account access for that - no thanks. No seller ever rejected my paypal order for such reason for many years.
After back and forth with customer service on email and chat I called them to give credit card number instead. Now they claim the bike is "discontinued" even if it shows on their website but at a bit higher price.
You feel like in some communist country government shop when begging them to take your money.
Now after reading all the horrible reviews about their products and service, I think it may be good the order didn't went through, I had wasted too much of my time already on them.

"If it says Nashbar on it, then its junk. I bought 4 tire tubes and 3 of them split at the manufacturers seam within days of riding. The fourth tube was cracked at the fold before i used it. "
"Apparently because shipping lost my package the issued a refund to the wrong account now I'm permanently banned from ordering to my address. For a week I kept trying to order never got an email that I'm banned from ordering. Mind you I've only ever made 2 orders and they didn't even refund it to my card, the original payment card like how is that my fault. Now they stated that I never made a police report, like if one was asked I would've made one, but regardless a customer should never be treated like NOTHING for other peoples mistakes especially the company mistake. "I ordered a rigid fork which took 6 months to finally get. Nashbar then charged me 3x for the fork. When I called about the extra charges they said okay and that the money would be sent back to my card...its been weeks now and no money was put back on my card. After speaking with 5 different people with each one giving me a different answer and each one giving me a different day that my money would be back on my card. The last person I talked to then said, no money was ever put back on my card...i have to send them my bank statement!!! Never never again will I order from nashbar. Buyer Beware!!!

"I returned a gift to Nashbar, and per their procedures I requested a gift card be sent in exchange. Instead, negligent Nashbar employees refunded it to the original card. When I contacted them requesting they fix this, and send me the card since it was their fault, they did nothing, a refused to acknowledge their mistake.

"Ordered a bike from Nashbar on July 12th and paid for expedited 2 day shipping, but 6 business days later it finally showed up. I opened the box and it was missing an entire box of parts. No disc brakes, no handlebar stem, no pedals, etc. called and asked them to refund the expedited shipping I paid since it was over the time and they would only refund half of the shipping cost. Also asked them to expedite or overnight the parts since it was their fault that they forgot to put it in the box. They said they would, but ups tracking shows they shipped it ground so I have now waited 12 days since I ordered a bike with 2 days shipping that I paid extra for. No one was helpful in the slightest and I missed a big ride that I had planned with friends even though I ordered the bike with plenty of time to get here. "
"Offered an item for sale after I placed my order they changed the price online and refused to fill my order. Offering multiple excuses listed on accident. No longer carrying item. The item was a bike rack that is new to the market and they carry every other rack offered by this manufacturer. The item continued to be listed at the higher price as in stock."

One product I ordered from them wasn't up to spec, and when I called customer care though I'll admit my request might be a bit too much for some.. for expensive bike parts it should still have been accommodated to. So I left a review of their product on their website and my experience with customer service. But...GUESS WHAT! THEY DELETED MY REVIEW. so next time you buy from them, make sure you find some reviews outside of their site. They clearly manipulate reviews for their product listings."

They helped me get a refund of the 20% issued by Amazon. Fast shipping, well packed. And I think the bike is a great value. Customer service was great. This was a five star transaction for me.
