Terrible seller

"I have ordered from this site twice. The first order came as expected. My second order contained one sick fish that immediately died and one wrong specimen. I immediately sent pictures to David who said he would replace them. Replaced the fish that died and then he claimed I never told him about the wrong specimen. I sent him screenshots of our previous conversation including photos I had already sent. David was very rude and refused to send the right fish. Currently looking for a new place to order freshwater fish that isn't owned by Petco."

New owner, new experience

"Ordered 15 Variatus Platies, and a dozen Nerite snails. Platies came in looking just like the picture and we're in great shape. Nerites we're DOA. David included a customer care sheet with his direct email in the packaging. I sent him a note about the DOA and he called me the next morning. He explained what he thought happened and reshipped a fresh batch of snails the next following Monday.

Was just going to call it a loss and not use them again. Based on how David handled the DOA I'll order from them again.

If I could give zero stars I would

"If I could give zero stars I would. I purchased a Blue Oranda goldfish from them and when I received the fish, it stayed floated to the bottom of the tank for the first two days with slight redness on the right gill. I assumed that it was the sedative that had this fish stuck but treated the tank for fungal diseases since the fish had signs of redness.
After the end of the first day, the fish seemed to bounce back but the redness was still visible so I treated the tank again.
However on the second day, the fish had a huge sore on their right side and was dead under a leaf.
I spent almost $100 after shipping on a sick fish that ended up slowly dying, despite diligence I shouldn't have had to have in the first place, in my already established tank.
This shop doesn't care about their fish or their customers.
If ya'll really do inspect your fish before sending, you knew that you sent me a sick fish.

RUN. Just run from this "shop"

Amazed

"Wow i have never been so thrilled. i was just wanting to do something nice and supprise my boyfriend who knows a lot more about fish then i do and he was estatic and very impressed with the shipping and how the fish were individually packaged. Double baged and then encloesed securely. a little leakeage but all fish were in great shape and almost immediately went into the tank. The heater provided worked perfectly. My boyfriend was very pleased and had told his friends back home and i have also ordered more fish. Thank you so much i am over the moon and very pleased. I will only
be ordering from bluegrass, and i highly recomend that you should too. For the quality of fish and the way they care and manage each fish it is well worth the cost as it takes time to do things right and i am thrilled.

Excellent fish and service

"The fish arrived well packed and in excellent shape. Great communication throughout. The people saying the fish are not as pictured apparently don’t know about African cichlids. They show a fully colored up male, but this is a breeder, so you normally get a juvi. Highly recommend bluegrass "

David's idea of cutsomer service is ignoring you

"Bought 5 cichlids from Bluegrass, along with 9 from petsmart. A year and a half later, 2 of the bluegrass fish have died, one had to be rehomed, one is a GIRL (I ordered all males), and one is barely 4" - lagging far behind the PetSmart cichlids, which isn't exactly a model pet store.

But here is where the issue came up. I contacted David Estes, who runs it all, recently about the female cichlid. He asked me for pictures, which I provided. It's been 13 days since I sent them, and he never did respond, nor to my other 4 emails asking if he got the pictures. The one email he did send was unprofessional, ending in "sent from my iPhone".

After this happened I went and looked into other reviews for this clown, and this is NOT an uncommon thing for him to do. AVOID.

ALSO RIPPED OFF NOT THE FISH THEY DESCRIBED OR PICTURED

"I spent time on the phone ***-***-**** (his cell phone number by the way), recorded the conversation bout the cichlids, size, condition, etc. Then, waited for them to be shipped. Then when received in these tiny tin tiny bags, the cichlids were barely noticeable. They look like they were born a week ago. I was told numerous times of their size, etc. I think is a bait and switch company. Then he tried to sell me on other cichlids before this shipment arrived stating these other ones were even BIGGER. So, wasting $80.00, my time waiting for the fish to be shipped, taking off time from work for next day air, and these tiny tiny TINY cichlids were a rip off! waste of money! waste of time! stay far away from this company cause they will bait and switch you too then not return your calls, emails etc. He texted me prior to the shipment trying to sell me on more fish, and what do you know his texts are now blocked after shipment........***-***-****...."

Totally "RIPPED OFF"

"This company totally misrepresented their ads online. I paid almost $90 for a fish that looked nothing like what was pictured on their website. I received a fish that wasn't any bigger than a tadpole. Called the company and the guy told me: "oh well, get another tank". Not worth the money. Company engages in false advertisement. Paid for overnight shipping and the fish took a week to be delivered. "

Unprofessional, unreliable and unresponsive.

"I ordered 20 cardinals, got not shipping notification, and when package arrived and was finally opened, it had been on my front porch for several hours in the cold and the heating pad was ice cold. Six cardinals were dead, the remaining immediately put in a brand new quarantine tank and seemed to perk up. However, ~36h later they exploded with ich and despite immediate treatment (Paraguard) they all died within a few days. Multiple emails requesting a full refund have been ignored. Finally got hold of someone on the phone, explained everything in detail at which the person on the phone started trying to make up multiple excuses and finally made a failed attempt at shifting the blame to me. :-( Finally asked me to write everything on the chat that is available on their website and was promised a quick response. However, 3 days have now past and still no response. This company seems to be ok if nothing goes wrong but will refuse to take any responsibility whatsoever when they are in the wrong. Shop at your own risk."

"It was my first time ordering from them. I had read some mixed reviews on them such as that they ship all their fish in one bag, fish are missing, they didn't get the right fish. Well...all I can say is I am extremely impressed with my shipment. I ordered 5 festivum cichlids, 6 congo tetras, 5 rosy barbs, and 2 boesemani rainbows to add to my other rainbow fish. Unfortunately the person they acquire festivums from was out, but they did alert me and gave me a refund. All the other fish came in separate bags, they were all extremely active and healthy looking. They left Florida on Monday evening and arrived in Kentucky Tuesday morning. Packed tightly, heat pack warm, double-bagged. I acclimated them to my quarantine tank and they're all doing great, they have even already eaten. I will definitely be ordering from them again. "

"I ordered 11 cichlids from bluegrassaquatics.com and reieved only 10 cichlids. I only chose to order from them to buy a Red dragon flowerhorn cichlid, which hanppend to be the one they never sent to me. I called and talk to David the CEO and all he offerd me was a refund, which I still have not received yet. It has been 2 weeks now and no refund yet. I would prefer to get my fish but the fish was only $7.99. David you can keep it! If your that cheap. The fishes did not come in a good condition 2 Red German had caved in stomachs and all the fishes tails were bitten off. I would not recommend anyone to do business with them. I have a video of the fishes on youtube. Just look up blue grass aquatics on youtube. I would rate them a 2 out of ten and give them a D grade. RECEIVING GOOD SERVICE IS EVERYTHING!!!"
