"But for one disappointment, I was very pleased with BorrowLenses.com. I received the equipment on the scheduled date. It was in beautiful shape. The equipment came with clear instructions on how to return it. It all worked like a charm.
The disapppointment was this. BorrowLenses sent me a different wide angle lens than I had ordered. I had done considerable research on wide angle lenses and was using this as an opportunity to give an extended tryout of the lens I had decided I would purchase. Without any warning or explanation, BorrowLenses sent me a different lens. That was really disappointing. Probably buried somewhere in the rental contract, BorrowLenses has the right to substitute lenses. But I wish they had sent me an email saying it was necessary to substitute the lense I had reserved 2.5 months before with another lense and confirm that I still wanted it. I did send an email when I received the package informing BorrowLenses of the switch and my disappointment. The response I got read,"Unfortunately, the Tokina didn't come back from its previous renter in time, so we had to swap it out for a different lens. Will the Canon 10-22 work for you?" I would have felt better if the person who responded at least said "We are sorry."
I had another interaction with the company that was very favorable. I needed to change the location to which the lenses were to be shipped. I called the 800 number and was greeted promptly and professionally. The change was made promptly.
Dispite my disappointment in the lens switch, I was very favorably impressed with BorrowLenses and have recommended them to others. I will rents lenses from them again, but I hope in the future that they will develop a way of communicating clearly when they are unable to fulfill the order and give me the option of cancelling the substitute order."
"After being out of the virtual tour business for some time and selling my nodal head for lack of use, I was recently contacted to start back. Borrowlenes.com had a Nodal Ninja available and at an acceptable rate. I placed an order but found out a few days later I had to push the session date back a week. One quick phone call with a confirmation was all it took with no extra charges. The person I spoke to (can't remember the name) was very polite and professional. The head arrived as promised. "i would look elsewhere for lens rentals. After receiving a rental "L" series Canon and testing it extensively in preparation for the event I intended, I found focus issues. I immediately called customer service. I hope to receive a replacement. They said they would ship a replacement, but if THEY determined the original lens was OK they would charge me double. By the way, I tested the lens on two "D" series Canon bodies. I am not inexperienced and told the gentleman that on the phone.
I did not return the lens an the shoot went poorly. Only about 35% of the images were in focus. I was very disappointed. I wondered whether the customer service people were poorly trained or perhaps the company policies are just not flexible.
I will never use this company again."

"At the beginning of June I rented an underwater camera. The camera arrived as promised and in perfect condition. I rented this camera to take on a cruise in the Caribbean. On the second day of our cruise I fell ill and had to be transported to the hospital in St. Lucia. After four terrible days there I was was transported to Orlando by an Air Ambulance Service. After arriving in the ICU unit in Orlando Regional Medical Center, I remarked to my wife that the camera had to be mailed backed the next day. The next day, I contacted BorrowLenses.com via telephone and spoke to a young lady (Lisa) and explained the situation. She was very understanding and said to send the camera back when I was released from the hospital with the documentation to substantiate my story. I said thank you very much. When I finally was released 8 days later my wife said that we got an email billing us for the additional time. When my wife called to again explain the situation, she was basically told "Tough Luck!". We sent the camera back with the knowledge that we will NEVER rent from this company again and will spread the word that this company lacks any compassion and holds the mighty dollar in higher esteem than customer service.
