"Don`t buy anything in this shop!!!!. I was robbed for more than 1000$. They sold me a lense for 1000 and it cost 100 dollar in other shops. I also asked for a Ipad and they gave me Apad. This shop are living of cheating tourists Who trust at stores.
I was one of them.
Do`not go there!!

"Yet again these unethical sales people have struck. Again it was a bait and switch and fast talking sales rep. I won't go into the full details since I have filed a complaint with both my credit card company and the NYC Dept. of Consumer affairs: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dca/html/contact/contact.shtml

I will say we are talking about $3K.

On a return visit we returned to the store. During a rather loud exchange with the sales staff, with 20 odd customers in the store, they agreed to take back the product for an exchange. This time we were prepared. They gave us several other camera lens' which have a real street value of what they overcharged for the rip off. We are still pursuing them with the City of New York. "I purchased a lens for my son's camera at Broadway Computer & Video in NYC. I initially went into the store to see if they would be able to fix my son's current lens. He said that he would buy my son's lens and give us credit toward a new lens ($200). The price on the lens that he wanted to sell to me was $700.00, he said that he'd take off $200. I declined. He then offered to let my son keep the lens, and he would still take off the $200. I still thought that $500 was too much for such a basic lens (Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro). As soon as the salesman realized that we were going to leave, he offered to bring the price down to $375. I saw that the lens was considerably cheaper online, but the salesman insisted that this lens in particular wasn't available online, and he assured that this is an incredible deal. I still didn't think that it was worth it, so we decided to wait until we got home to find a better deal. He then offered to sell us the lens for $350 if we used a Visa card. This seemed reasonable, considering the fact that the price on the box was double what we were paying. I ended up buying the lens, and as soon as the purchase was completed, the salesman's attitude completely changed. My son tried to ask questions about the lens, and the salesman continued to tell him to read the instructions and that we were all set. They obviously didn't want us in the store any longer. When I got home I called Sigma (The manufacturer of the lens), and was told that the lens retails for $160. I gave Sigma the serial number of the lens, and they told me that it had been purchased from a local dealer nearby. Sigma told me that I paid more than double the retail price, even though the salesman cut the price in half. I called Broadway Computer & Video, and spoke to the supposed manager (Tony). He told me that it wasn't his problem, and that I was lucky that I hadn't paid the full $700, he then said: "do what you like." He then hung up the phone. One thing that I found to be rather peculiar is that next to "Salesman:" on my receipt, it says T2/ED. I assumer these are two different people? Yet when I called today, his name's Tony?

"Well I was scammed by this store also. And by Benny a very smooth salesperson. I feel so very stupid and ripped off. What they sold me is available online at 1/4 to 1/3 the price and not only that, that is the latest model and not last year's model Nikon Coolpix that they sold me. They had very genuine looking price tags like MSRP price tags on every item that were five six seven times the real cost and then tell me they gave me a "discount" and I thought I got a deal! VISA was no use, I pursued a merchant dispute with them. I am going to pursue a complaint with NYC Department of Consumer Affairs, their business name is VB Management, their license number is posted up the store you could get that and file a complaint also. It ruined my holiday. I literally could not imagine that any firm could stay in business with such deceptive marketing practices. And that's because most of us are tourists and will never see them again. Do not shop here."

"Do not purchase anything from this shop. You will be ripped off without realising it.
First time in New York we entered this shop to buy a digital camera for my daughter. We ended up buying a basic camera at an inflated price but worse they sold us a lens without a proprietary name for $769.99 plus tax. My son said it is worth at most $30. They then proceeded to sell my husband a video camera which he didn't want or need for $1,415.00, worth on the internet we discovered later $299. It was a set up and we were mugs but why should these sharks get away with it. I just hope that people will read this review and heed our warnings. I have been in touch with the shop 3 times since with no good
result but we do not intend to let the matter rest here.
It cast a cloud over our whole holiday which was our first time in New York and the USA.

"We purchased a sanyo VPC-CG10 from T2. We are from Australia. He sold us a $2000 video camera that was 'internationally' modified without mentioning that the 'unmodified' version was only worth $200. He made it sound like it was some AMAZING camera. If we had known it was only worth $200 ($149) at other stores, then we could have gone home and bought an Australian one that wasn't 'modified'. When I phone George the Manager, he said it wasn't their job to tell us that the actual item was a cheap camera and the modification was expensive. What a rip off.

spoke to T2 George a second time, said he was George the first time (I think they were two different people).

Bought a 8GB easystore SDHC card at the same time. Charged $99.99 and yet we can see that it is only worth about $20 (or $13 in some stores). Again, RIPPED OFF.

"Went looking for a low priced digital camera for my daughter. They showed me a Samsung sl30. They told me that it was a good price of $200 for it listed at about $320. Well after getting home and checking on the web I found it for just under $100. I worte to complain. well they called back and told me that the low price was do to it being sold over the internet and that they could never match that price. Well i've found it at that lower price at every other NYC shop that has a real store in Manhattan and an online store. I figured than their over head should be the same and I could prove him wrong. Well I was correct anywhere you look it's for $100 or just under. This includes most of the big name stores in the city.

I would never go to this store again for they are untruthful. As of now they won't give me a refund. I've snet them the proof of what I just mentioned above. Will see if anythigng comes of it. Iseriously doubt that they will except my proof of the lower price.

"Unfortunately, I see that I am of the numerous `ropped off` customers by this shop. I bought SANYO CG10 camcorder for 1088 $ (incl 8Go SD card) while salesman claimimg very nice discount 50% (so,from 2,000 $ original price) valid for 1 day only. I discovered that this is only value of 200 $ !! Very good tourist trapping shop as I am one comimg from France. I cannot understand why this kind of shop is still existing after so many comlaints. I thought that USA was among the best customers protecting countries with thousands of layers but it seems not. Very disappointed travel. I`ll try to recover but seeing the comments, no chance. Try to contact customer protection agency in USA (is one existing ? rather doubtful !

"Do NOT buy from this shops.
These people are frauds and liars.
I went in and asked for a very specific Nikon 18-200 lens.
The salesperson, Mr. Tito R. (most probably a fake identity too), said that due to plastic parts the lens was technically inferior to a Sigma lens he had to offer which was only slightly
more expensive. He sold me the lens which turned out to be way inferior for triple the price. I discovered the scam when I looked up the specs of the lens in the internet the day after. I returned to the shop to return the merchandise. Mr. R. denied everything that happened the day before except having sold the lens.
These people should be locked behind bars, because they willfully and purposefully misinform people to obtain monetary gain. I will be contacting NY authorities to have this shop prosecuted. Do not even go near this shop....

"Omg!! I am so freaking mad. Never I repeat NEVER shop at this store. It is a complete SCAM. Just recently purchased a wide angle lens which I have just found out is about 4-5 times less (online) than the amount I actually paid for it. I should have known better, judging by how quickly the salesman Benny (bet that is not even his real name) managed to coerce me into purchasing the item, He had practically cashed in and bagged the item before i even said yes. I had a bad feeling about it initially, but he managed to convinced me saying the reason he was able to give it to me at such a "discounted" price was because it was a free promotional item they had received from the distributor. All potential buyers be warned, prices marked are probably immensely overpriced so sellers can fool you into thinking you're getting a really good discount. "

"We called 12/26/2008 because we received an email asking us to call in after placing an order 12/24/2008. We attempted to order a JVC EVERIO HD6 Video Camera.

I had relatives visiting us here in the United States who were from out of country. Broadway Video advised us when we called that they did not accept overseas credit cards so I called in to use my USA card. As soon as they had my USA credit card information, the bait and switch started. I am quoting the sales rep "Oh, I have the EXACT same camera, you will love it..but you need the 2 hour, 4 hour or 6 hour battery. The battery the camera comes with is only good for 20 minutes". A HUGE RED FLAG appeared in front of my face.

So we decided to get the 2 hour battery for only $69.00 more. Classic bait and switch. So I asked...is there anything else we might need? "Yes, you will also need the special battery charger for the 2 hour battery". You mean I can't charge the 2 hour battery with the camera? No, you cannot. You need the separate charger. Another $69.00, a special price if you take it with this order.

That did it for me. This is bait and switch. We found the lowest price for this camera by using Pricewatch. And the danger in using Pricewatch is that all too often the lowest price is manipulated by the vendors in order to receive the highest ranking in a category.

I terminated the transaction by clearly saying, rather loudly... "CANCEL THE ORDER"...."DID YOU HEAR ME... I SAID CANCEL THIS ORDER". The operator on the other end of the phone (classic New Yawk accent) "I heard ya the first time, cancel the order".

If you buy from this store after reading this review you really do deserve what you get.

"THE ABSOLUTE WORST! EVER!!!

I just wanted to add, since I too ALMOST got ripped off, that Broadway Photo is a scam. I am so grateful to have found the countless (I mean hundreds, actually) of bad reviews on the internet. Without them, I wouldn't have known what to expect after I placed my order, and probably wouldn't have had the foresight to cancel my order after learning my product was on backorder (8-10 weeks people!). Now, please note that I spoke to them twice to make sure that the item I purchased was, in fact, IN STOCK...to which they told me, that yes, it was in stock. Only to get THE EMAIL stating that is was actually backordered. I promptly canceled my order, only to be hung-up on.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE PEOPLE...SAVE YOUR SANITY AND DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE FRAUDS (BROADWAY PHOTO - you guys suck). You might think you're saving a few pennies and getting a great deal, but all you are really buying is a bunch of headaches.
