"I ordered a book through Amazon and received prompt notification that my order would be processed within 2-3 days and I should expect it with 14 days. One week later, November 6, My order was still in "Confirmed" status on the website. I inquired about the status of my order. I was told there was a delay in the process and it would be 4-14 days from the date of ship before I would receive my order. There was no explanation of teh delay or how long it would be until the order shipped. Customer service was unremarkable. As opposed to vague, obvious response I receved, I should have been given more detail. I was told that I could cancel my order but the directions and link provided did not work properly. The poor customer service is probably the reason there is no phone number on the website. Very disappointed."

"I ordered an audio CD online on Sunday evening, August 19, 2007. I received a confirmation e-mail from Caiman on Monday August 20. I received a notice that the CD had been shipped on Tuesday August 21. I received the CD in perfect condition in California on Thursday August 30.

My experience was 100% positive and I would not hesitate to recommend Caiman.

"I ordered a hard-to-find CD from Caiman through Amazon UK. Ten days later, I received -- an LP, by a different band. A simple case of the wrong item shipped, which could be easily, quickly corrected, right? I e-mailed Caiman's customer service, who replied with "authorization to return" the CD I hadn't received, and a link to a merchandise return shipping label. After a second e-mail, I got a brief message but still nothing said about when I might expect to receive what I ordered. It took a third e-mail before "Claire the autoresponder" stated that my CD would not be sent until the return had been processed.

The LP was mailed back August 30. On 9/13 I e-mailed Caiman again through Amazon's "contact this seller" feature. Caiman replied they had not yet received the return.

Looking over the detailed customer feedback at Amazon and elsewhere, I get the picture that Caiman fills about 90% of their orders correctly (although 90% is actually pretty poor for a retail operation). But if they make a mistake or there is a problem with your order, THEY DO NOT CARE, and in fact Caiman's "customer service" responds to problems with a sort of scorched-earth, death-by-attrition policy of denial. I've got to tell you, I have not come across a single instance of Caiman's resolving any problem to a customer's satisfaction. Well, I'll wait another week or two, maybe I'll be the first. Hopefully I've got Amazon's A-to-Z policy to fall back on, if not then I'll ask my credit card to void the charge.

9/20: Today I heard, from Amazon, that Caiman has issued me a partial refund. The reason given is "Other". No explanation, no direct contact from Caiman. Caiman still lists the CD I ordered for sale, though they've raised the price since I placed my order. They refunded what I paid for the CD, but not shipping, so because this was in English pounds I'm still out about $6.50 for nothing (and a month of aggravation) just for trying to order from Caiman.

From what I've learned about Caiman, I guess I got off with a relatively cheap lesson. I wonder if I would have gotten even the partial refund if I had ordered direct from Caiman rather than through Amazon? I certainly won't order from them again. You might want to check out "Terrible Service Costs Caiman.com Another Customer" at blog.tmcnet.com, where I read, among other things, that Caiman has been banned from e-bay after many complaints.

"AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They advertise as having items "in stock", bill your credit card, and then provide excuses when the item can't be shipped. This happened to me twice. The first time I had ordered a CD with them through Half.com. When the disk did not arrive I contacted them repeatedly by email and was given a number of excuses regarding the delays in processing the order. By the time I realized they weren’t going to be able to deliver, I had gone past the deadline for disputing the charge. Based on that experience, I would not have ordered from them again. However, I recently placed an order from Tower.com, not knowing that Caiman.com had bought the domain. I ordered an "In Stock" item from the website, and when the item did not show up I was told variously that "the item is on back order and will ship next week", "the item will ship tomorrow", and "the item had not yet been obtained from their distributors and could take several more weeks". After that last excuse I cancelled that portion of the order, and immediately received an email saying that the refund would be completed in 72 hours. After nearly two weeks the credit had not been posted to my credit card. When I called Tower.com they told me the refund would take 6 to 8 weeks to process. Since waiting that long would effectively cause me to forfeit the chance to dispute the charge, I have contacted my credit card company to alert them of the disputed charge. At this point I am awaiting resolution. Based on my experiences and other posted online comments, I believe that Caiman willingly engages in deceptive business practices, and urge others to avoid Caiman.com and Tower.com at all costs."

"I ordered from this seller on Amazon.com. Ignoring their poor feedback rating, I purchased a DVD that is rare. Under "seller comments" the seller had stated the DVD was all-region and contained English language options. What I recieved was a Region 2 DVD in German. After contacting the seller about 7 times (yes, 7) they only replied with half-ass responses telling me they couldn't do anything because I had opened it. I repeatedly asked how I was supposed to know there weren't any english language options if I didn't open it and try it out. Their replies were simply "deal with it". I wish someone would report this seller and for them to be taken offline permanenetly. DO NOT order from this seller. Either they advertise what they don't have and charge you without shipping (which is illegal) or they send you a region 2 DVD and tell you to deal with it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!"

"On 4-04-2007 I ordered a DVD, specifically TUF Season 1 from Caiman. I checked the Caiman.com website frequently to view the order status and to my suprise after two weeks the item was still listed as processing. I kindly sent an email asking about my order and I was told they are experiencing a delay in fulfiling my order. I decide to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait it out. Fast forward to May 8th I send off another email after noticing my order is still "processing". I receieved an email back stating my item is on back order and will take 2-3 weeks to ship. Again I wait it out, for three more weeks based on the email I received. May 28th I send another email because once again I check the website and my order is still "processing". This time I recieve an email back stating "Unfortunately at this time we are unable to determine an expected shipping date". I do not expect magic from internet based companies, but waiting 56 or so days to be "unable to determine an expected shipping date" is quite horrendous. "

"Sigh.
I so want to like Caiman.com, but either they're incompetent or the wheels are coming off the company.
I ordered a book about 2 weeks ago and paid for expedited shipping, and as of today, no book. So, I called ***-***-****, which referenced me to ***-***-****. They tracked the order and discovered it as lost. So they're resending it. I'm hoping it will show up soon, however, I cannot recommend caiman.com to anyone and will avoid them in the future. For others who've been burned, here's some useful information:

"Like SOOO many other people I STILL haven't received my DVD I ordered on 3/16/07. I DID receive an e-mail from Caiman.com saying my order had been shipped on 3/20/07. Well, here we are past the 14 day mark and my numerous emails say "sometimes it takes up to 21 days." I'm angry now that I've heard so many other people have had similar experiences.

GOOD NEWS though! I have an 800 number to call customer service.

"Yet again as with most of the people here we were given appalling and non existant customer service. As with many other people we deliberatly bought from what we assumed was a US company selling US format DVDs. At no stage whatsoever were we shown or warned that the DVD would be PAL region 2.

I urge anyone considering to use this company to seriously think again. the company is a sham should be investigated for fraud and should be avoided at all costs.

"They never mailed my book. So they stole $30 from me. They don't return my emails with anything but automated responses. There is no phone number or way to contact them. "I ordered two (2) DVD's from caiman.com thru Amazon.com. One DVD doesn't work in the USA it's rated region 2. The other DVD is in spanish.I didn't discover until I opened and tryed on my DVD player.
