"I purchased vinyl plank flooring. The first question I asked the sales person was about a possible odor. She said, "No off-gassing," which I took to mean there would be no odor. Apparently that refers to toxic fumes only. There was a very definite odor. I am living in temporary housing during this remodeling. The odor gave me a sore throat after just 5 or 10 minute's exposure to the flooring on several occasions. I contacted Cali Bamboo customer support and was told that all new building materials have an odor and this wold dissipate with time. It is now a month since the flooring was installed, I have had all windows and doors open with fans running 24-7 and there is still an odor. It still gives me a sore throat. I had the flooring taken up today. "
"The Bam decking was installed explicitly according to Cali's recommendation. I had many consults with them during this process.
I had noticed for the first time gaps appearing last winter which would have been normal during the colder months, but as summer approached more and more gaps appeared. Now about 25 measuring 3/4 of an inch.
I recently filed a complaint with them and they sent a Fl based inspection company called Inspect Solutions, A report successfully showed the problem to be irregular and extreme contraction of the planks. However they found a way to blame this manufacturing defect on the installation claiming that the differences in contraction would be less obvious if breaker boards were installed. I am now about to contact both California and NY attorney generals office as well as seek legal advice in filing a lawsuit against them. I have never seen a more gratuitous way to skip out of responsibility than Cali Bamboo has shown. "
"The customer service and response time is crap, Max doesn't call you back or return emails, Sarah and Tina do the same, once they have your $$$ you will not hear from them again, called numerous times last week, emailed and again over the weekend as well as today (Monday) they didn't send the correct stair nose amount nor did they give me the correct amount of flooring and or return messages about getting/buying more flooring. I wouldn't buy from them again if their product was a $1 a box, this company is a joke, pretty much a scam truth be told. The first order got canceled because the warehouse said the following "We do not have the flooring in stock" after the sales rep confirmed a delivery date, that was Max Merrill, I had to buy other flooring and it was considerably less expensive, same quality just longer planks, why didn't you mention this the first time? because you wanted to get more money from me,... now they do not respond to any emails, calls or anything else, DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS COMPANY YOU WILL ONLY GET SCREWED IN THE END. Just an FYI, when the order finally got fulfilled, it was shipped by a company I had to HELP get the order off the truck and into my driveway!!! I didn't know I would have to help with the delivery!!! True CLOWN-WORK here ALL THE WAY AROUND!!!!"
"Cali Bamboo delivered one of the worst customer service experiences of my life…and to top it off, they are keeping my money with no response.
I had placed an order with Cali Bamboo in February of 2022. The main part of the order never shipped. Two months later, in April 2022, after one month of me chasing them on the phone and emailing them to find out what’s going on, they finally notified me that the material had been damaged in the warehouse. Not only is my project further delayed, now I am left absolutely stuck.
I was notified via email that a Cali Bamboo customer service team member would be contacting me within 24 hours. No one contacted me from Cali Bamboo—even after waiting for one week. I then called the customer service line and was told by a specific agent that someone else is handling my case…and so I was transferred to that someone else...then that someone else told me that they are not responsible for my case. That’s right…not responsible. I got transferred many times within the Cali Bamboo “system” and eventually got to a prerecorded message advising me to leave a voicemail. I left a message…of course, I never received a call back. Thanks, Cali Bamboo.
So then, I emailed the Cali Bamboo sales rep and received no response—I am starting to think it’s the company culture. After chasing after him with many emails and phone calls, I was able to talk with him on the phone. This is now May of 2022 (the Cali Bamboo horror began back in February). I asked the sales rep to please find out what the damage is and whether I can salvage and use some of the material (since that specific color of material is suddenly no longer produced). He assured me that he would contact the warehouse and have them send me photos to review…you guessed it—he never did. I had to again, call and email this Cali Bamboo sales rep multiple times in order to get an answer. At this time my job has been delayed three whole months. To top off the experience with this unprofessional and unreliable company, Cali Bamboo has now messed with my mind and my time as an added value for doing business with them.
At this point, I had Cali Bamboo send me a different material with the same color to improvise and somehow get the job done (since all the aforementioned had occurred with the original order). At the end, Cali Bamboo only partially refunded me for my original order and decided to hold onto the shipping cost amount for a large item that I never received from them. I contacted the well-known shipping company and was provided a quote for what Cali Bamboo had sent me—it is only half the amount that Cali Bamboo is claiming. Yes, half.
To say that I am extremely frustrated with Cali Bamboo is an extreme understatement. No one should ever have this experience and it’s so sad that companies like Cali Bamboo can get away with it without any consequences. What I had to go through over the last nearly four months is completely unacceptable. The “team” at Cali Bamboo has no remorse for what they have put me through, and to top it off, I have not received an adequate reimbursement for their gross mismanagement of the order.
If you are seeking drama, money loss, and headaches, I strongly recommend doing business with Cali Bamboo.

"I loved the flooring. It is easy to install and looks great. I have finished 3 bedrooms and a large walk-in closet. Only the office needs finished and I'm done. I almost forgot. I ordered 51 boxes with 6 planks per box (1300 sq ft) and All the materials arrived very well packed, I did not have so much as a plank with a defect.
1) I wasn't crazy about the tape. It did not stick well to anything for very long, but it was easy to use.
2) The Cali underlayment is nice to work with, but it would be better with strait edges versus the puzzle like mating edges.
3) The transitions are very nice looking and easy to install, but I would have liked an option of getting deeper tongues for installing on uneven conditions."
"We created a deck with their 3g Bamdeck. Our contractor has a lot of experience with composite decking and followed the Cali Bamboo recommended spacing and fasteners. In under two years the decking is CRACKING!!! This is on flat boards with no screw holes, and boards with screw fasteners. This decking is falling apart. Cali Bamboo Support is TERRIBLE!!! They do not respond to emails and have no resolution. What good is a warranty when you cant use it. Delivery was a nightmare. They delivered half the product with a slightly different color/contrast. Because the use a third party storage and shipment facility they do not have control of what is shipped. Had to return half the order and have another order shipped. A year later i was put into collections by UPS saying i did not pay for the second shipment! The entire situation is bad with this company.
now 5 years later every board is starting to crack. they will not honor their warranty. "
"Not my usual thing to review a product but when I love or hate something it inspires me to write. I love walking on this floor (it's the Deep Sea Eucalyptus vinyl with stone). My cats love stretching out on it too. And the color is deep and lush. But one of the most important factors is that it doesn't off-gas. "I love my new floors! Mark was great to respond to any questions I had. It took me several months and a pile of samples to finally decide but he sent two of every one I was considering so I could get a better idea of color variety. It was so helpful! I chose Castaway and Seascape Hickory. I love them both! The only problem is I've had to repaint and update everything! The kitchen is still an ongoing project because I decided everything needed to be upgraded to show off these floors! I am completely in love! Thank you Cali Bamboo!"
"Floor looks great, but I've had 20+ places of warping or cracking after about two years. The warranty is worthless as they fight you every step of the way. First they try to make you pay for the inspection, then they won't do anything unless you allow "destructive testing with zero liability". They try to make you sign a non disclosure agreement. Stay away from Cali Bamboo. "
