"The vast majority of my orders at Calumet have been in-store or over the phone. As a professional photographer, it's the camera store of choice for me. Unlike some other well known camera stores, they're open on Saturdays and some of their retail locations are even open on Sunday. I've purchased everything from point and shoot cameras to pro bodies and lenses from Calumet. Their sales staff is pretty knowledgeable and certainly friendly. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for camera gear! "

"I found the seller to be quite unreliable in shipping the product I ordered. I ordered a Nikon D-7000, which was not shown on their website to be out of stock when placing my order. All of the other stores gave warning that the item was temporarily out of stock. Immediately after I ordered I received order confirmation, and then later that day I was told that my item was back ordered two to three weeks. After, about two and a half weeks I was checking on their website to see the status of my order, but the order was not there. The had adopted a new website making it impossible to see any orders made before the changeover. I entered into a customer service chat, and was told that he could not recover my order so I would have to call their customer service branch. After being put on hold for not too long, I was able to talk with a representative. He did not have good news for me though. He told me that my order would not be arriving in the 3-4 business days their website had estimated, nor would it be arriving in two to three weeks as the email telling me about the item being back ordered had said. The customer service representative told me it would be at least till the end of the year before the camera would arrive. Right now I am a photography student, I have a final portfolio due in three weeks. I will not be able to work on that project with my own camera. I have a photo shoot for a model down over Thanksgiving break that I will have to borrow a camera for, one which is of much lower quality and will reflect poorly on me as a photographer. I also have a wedding to photograph during my winter break, but I may have to cancel because the camera I ordered on the second day of November will still not be in my possession for the holidays. The same camera mind you that the Calumet Website told me was going to ship in 3-4 business days, and then 2-3 weeks, and the 2-3 months.

If you are looking to buy new equipment, and have photographic commitments in your schedule during the next year I strongly encourage you to avoid this company. Go somewhere else, because even if they are out of stock, at least they will let you know before the order is placed, and they won't misguide you about the expected shipping date later on. I am going to try to cancel my order and find another vendor who can deliver the merchandise before I miss all of my photography commitments. "

"I ordered a Canon lens from Calumet. They shipped the lens the same day, and they also provided a tracking number the day when they shipped the package. The lens arrived today - it was very nicely and securely packaged. But, what impressed me the most was how "fresh" the copy of the lens they sent me - the lens was manufactured this month! It just couldn't be any better than that...

"on april 14th,I ordered me an olympus 50-200mm lens.
since my wife and I were flying to honolulu on april 17th.I asked steve (salesman) if he can forward the lens directly to our hotel in waikiki beach.he took all the info and promised it will be done not after submitting the order to their financial dept since I paid with a credit card and since it was shipped to another adress so they had to make sure all is ok and no fraudulent use.that was very professionnal of them to protect their customer's credit card.the same day I received a tracking number which allowed me to track down my parcel till it has arrived to honolulu on april 16th.upon our arrival on the 17th, the front desk manager handled me the parcel with my lens in it.it was exactly as promised ,they really took care to make sure the lens arrives in good order.it was nicely packed in a big box with protective foam .I was really impressed with calumet that the next week I ordered me a 50mm f2 macro lens and had the same kind of great and professional service.thanks to steve (salesman) and jerry (financial dept).

"Deceptive & dishonorable company! I purchased a Nikon D5000 camera kit from Calumet advertising a $100 rebate. It rang up at $839.99. I printed my receipt upon making the online purchase totaling 839.99 & then received a follow-up confirmation email stating a price of $939.99. I immediately emailed Calumet back quetioning the $100 discrepancy? A WEEK later I get a response from Steve stating I could no longer have the price of $839.99 as the item is back-ordered and Nikon will not honor the rebate on items not in stock when the rebate expires. It expired the next day. There was nothing stated about this when I made the purchase? He basically said take it for the higher price or cancel the order. I researched and found the same camera online at Ritz advertising the same rebate but just a little bit higher price, made the purchase from them & asked if such terms exist between Nikon and the seller. They told me they would honor price regardless of its stock status. I'm canceling my order with Calumet & do not recommend them to anyone. Dishonest & clearly do not value the customer."

"I have ordered both large (Canon XH-A1) and small (Pelican Cases) from Calumet in the past. Nonetheless, I was wary about their stock of the Canon 5D MkII when I went to their site. (Most other retailers continue to have VERY short supplies and are almost always out of stock).

I spoke to a CS rep on the phone and he stated they were available and would ship the same day. I was still skeptical, but took the shot on a $2700 order online.

I immediately got an email confirming the order,and a statement that it would ship that day. STILL skeptical, I awaited a UPS tracking code, and sure enough, it came within a few hours.

Shipping was free via UPS and the tracking shows I will get the camera in three days.

This is a clear indication of honest, upright and solid customer service. Lots of integrity, and I'll trust Calumet anytime for future purchases.

Highly recommended.

UPDATE: I received the Camera exactly on time and in perfect shipping condition. Of course, the camera is everthing I expected (Canon 5D Mk II) and Calumet exceeded my expectations for ordering and delivery. Can't go wrong with them!"

"I ordered a Nikon D90 with 18-105VR and 70-300VR lenses on-line at calumet.com on a Saturday evening and called on Monday to verify the order and made sure they honored the online price. Shipping/handling/insurance was free with a promotional code. The order was processed on Monday, shipped on Tuesday, and arrived early Friday afternoon (Chicago to Colorado). The package arrived in excellent shape and contained everything I ordered. A perfect on-line shopping experience!"

"Calumet.co.uk worst store ever?

Bought a Sigma 10-20 Lens For Canon mount from them, they filled my address wrong, and sent the lens trough 3 different companies to deliver...which was hell to track.

Sent an email requesting a tracking number, but never received a answer..Phoned to calumet...the operator refused to give me..stating that she had to make a lot of phone calls to discover it. I phoned to the delivery company and trough my name they discovered the tacking number. I have sent 5 emails to calumet...not one single response to this day.

I highly do NOT recommend this company to any one, their customer service simply does not exist, and they don't respect their customers.

Besides this, the lens seems to have an AF issue at the wide end.

This seems unreal, but it happened, and I'm not the unluckiest guy in earth.

I plan to call their Manager soon, to complaint!"
