"Although I had read horror stories about items going out of stock unless many additional options are purchased, my order was shipped and delivered as promised (maybe because I purchased the 4 year extended warranty).
I was promised a USA warranty (via phone and web site), but the box was French / English with an 800 number to call for USA Warranty information. Calling that number Sony said they would not honor the warranty unless the item was purchased from an authorized dealer (of which Camertopia is not). Therefore I would always recommend buying an extended warranty if you're looking for some sort of coverage.
I was pleased to see that the unit I purchased was brand new and had never been opened.
My biggest issue was that the UPC code was unexpectedly cut from the box (and I was hoping to submit it for a Sony $100 rebate offer).
If you have problems / issues, don't expect to have your emails returned and do expect to get the run around when you call. I was very persistent so I finally did get to speak with someone who gave me many reasons as to why I didn't get the UPC code and that Sony wouldn’t honor it anyway, but everywhere they directed me within Sony to confirm that fact didn't confirm what they said. They did offer to try and get me a UPC code to submit, but that went nowhere.
In the end, I decided to keep the unit because 1) I wanted the camera and 2) I didn’t want to incur additional shipping fees to return it, nor did I want to start fighting for the 15% restocking fee.
The price, although it appeared lower than other reputable organizations, ended up being around the same (once I apply the expected $100 rebate I probably would have received by ordering elsewhere and I am also a NY resident, so sales tax is part of my price comparison).
I am not sure I would use this organization again, only because I don’t think it is worth the extra aggravation for the very little money I ultimately saved (if any). Had I received the expected UPC code to submit for the $100 rebate from Sony, it definitely would have been worth my time. Had I not been misled, and chose to purchase from them because they were on the low end of the pricing scale, I may still be a customer of theirs today.
I guess this was yet another to good to be true type of deal."

"Found the telephone rep to be very helpfull. He went the extra distance and found additional discounts after I was already OK with the price. He also was complete at listing what accessories I need and which ones are helpful. He even rearranged the final order and jugled the items to create a new package for a little less and with more products. The shipment went out when it was supposed to. Now that I'm thinking of it this was probably one of the best online stores I've bought from.

After speaking with the salesperson about each concern and VERIFYING that the product was in stock BEFORE I placed the order, I decided that this company was more trustworthy than the negative reviews lead you to believe. The order was shipped the same day it was placed and arrived 4 days later ... 100% complete, brand new, with USA warranty, and in perfect physical condition. I would order from them again."

I have spoken to Leroy again and to Peter several times. I was told it was on backorder. I sent an E-mail last week to them. I have yet to receive an answer. I know they have a new shipment in.They have it advertised at a higher price then our original order. Do they not intend to ship our order now that they have increased the price? "I ordered a Sony TRV-27 camcorder on Jan 5th. In late January, I called to asked where my order is. They responded that I should have it in a week to ten days. It is now February 26th and I still have not been contacted. I called them and Cameratopia told me that the camera is discontinued and they are having a problem finding it. Now they tell me after waiting 7 weeks! What a SCAM! These guys should be blacklisted and reported to the Better Business Bureau. I cancelled my order and now back to square one again."
"These people don't have any customer service. Other than their web site, there is no order status, no returned phone calls, no returned emails. When talking to them on the phone, the product is always "available to sell", just never available. The followup phone call after placing the order was very "up sale" oriented. When you don't take the bait, the switch is "no product in stock." Before Christmas they sent out a blanket email telling us to call a legitimate telemarketing service center if we had inquiries about our delayed orders. The only problem was that the telemarketing center had no contractual ties, nor anything to do with Camertopia. These people are simply unethical."
"What a fantastic buying experience. Did a lot of research before buying my very first camcorder and located Camera Topia on the web as having the exact camcorder I was looking for at the absolutely the least cost. Placed an order and received all items superbly packaged and they arrived as promised. I encountered a problem when I opened the factory sealed package containing the camcorder and learned there wasn't a computer disk enclosed. The disk allows for transferring picture to your computer. Called Customer Care at Camera Topia and spoke to Karina who more than went out of her way to assist me find how to obtain the disk from Sony. Did as she instructed and called her back to thank her. She even provided assistance in faxing my proof of purchase to Sony in order for me to receive the disk a little sooner. Fantasic folks and I would highly recommend them to anyone without hesitation"
