Big Disappointment

"I hear Car Toys commercials all the time, so I had good expectations when I went in last Thursday night. The two employees behind the counter were in the middle of a conversation, so I looked around the store while I waited for someone to get free and come see what I needed. The store was a mess. In every single room, speakers and stereos were missing from the displays, so it kind of resembled the early stages of a going-out-of-business sale. After a while, the employees clearly weren't very busy, but nobody ever paid me any attention. It's a shame, too, because I had three different projects that I wanted to discuss. After 15 minutes or so, I left. As I was walking away, I noticed that they don't even maintain their sign; the lit letters say "C R Toys". Overall impression: the location I visited (Harrison Road in Colorado Springs, CO) is not at all well-run."

A nightmare

"I was replacing a CD player and they installed a radio.
I get the radio replaced, one with purple blue lights, they installed one with green lights.
They left all the stereo installation garbage in my truck, both front and back seats. Seat covers a mess.
Rude lady and rude staff.
Wasn't showed one single thing about my stereo. I asked. She takes the volume button and turned it up loud then turns it all the way down then turns it up loud.
You would be **** if a friend did this. Extremely unprofessional rude sloppy

"I buy a set of speakers from Car_toys through Amazon and the order page states that they have a 3 year warranty. I contact Car_toys through Amazon and ask about making a warranty claim since they are still under the 3 year warranty and they write back stating that they only warranty for one year and that my one year warranty has expired. The standard warranty for these Infinity speakers is 3 years, the Amazon page still says 3 year warranty and these guys are trying to cheat me out of a righteous warranty claim.

"Short version
DO NOT go to Car Toys. They will make a mistake installing your purchase then refuse to fix it in a timely manner while being argumentative and disrespectful.

Long version
On 2/14/15 I went to Car Toys at 12815 Aurora Ave, Seattle WA and purchased the Directed Electronics Clifford 5906X Color OLED 2-way security + remote start system for my girlfriend’s birthday (see her review above). I left her car there for 10 hours to allow adequate time for installation. Upon driving the car home, we discovered that her dashboard backlight no longer illuminated. After owning the car for over 7 years, we are familiar with the backlight settings and attempted to trouble shoot this problem ourselves (the lights functioned properly the night before). Clearly the electronic connection was disrupted as the adjustment dials no longer worked in any capacity and the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) switch no longer worked either. We returned as soon as Car Toys opened the very next day to report this. The manager Ryan McLeod simply stated that he would not be able to look at this installation issue in a timely fashion. He did NOT apologize and even stated that nothing was wrong with our car WITHOUT even looking at it. I understand that the remote start has to be wired into the ignition as well as a power source in order to function properly and the dashboard backlight and ESC switch are both in the operative area of installation. Presently, neither of these functions work in our car. After spending $1124.50 and bringing the car back immediately, I am disappointed that they were not able to fit us in for repair in a timely fashion. Furthermore, this mistake in installation has now made the car unsafe to drive at night as we are unable to see the speedometer or any of the other gauges. To make matters worse, she is driving out of town today and even after expressing this to Ryan, we did not obtain any sympathy or help (not only fixing their mistake but calling other stores to see if they could get us in, etc). I believe that he fully understood the situation and, given that Car Toys is clearly at fault, consciously chose to do nothing about it. While we were patient and understanding but still expressed our need for a fully functioning car, Ryan was curt, disrespectful, apathetic, and unprofessional.
I will take this car to a different Car Toys and verify that there is an installation error. I will then proceed to return this system given their extremely poor customer service (I understand that mistakes happen but what I cannot forgive is the refusal to fix these mistakes). I will report them to the Better Business Burea for making our car unsafe to drive. I will take my business elsewhere from now on. And I will also encourage every person I interact with from now on to boycott Car Toys and take their money elsewhere (I am fortunate to have a job where I interact with a lot of potential customers and it is my hope that I can save them from this same ridiculous experience). "Spent $1800 for a Pioneer Z140BH navigation system. The screen went black after 18 months. Car Toys sent it back to the factory where it has been for more than 3 months. I thought I bought a additional 4 year warranty warranty. Turns out its only for repairs, which after one year take place at the factory. So I guess I'm out $1800. I've tried contacting Pioneer, but ther's no phone number and they do not respond to emails..."

"The sales person was very knowledgeable of the products and helped point me to the Stereo that best fit my needs. The car stereo was installed within 20 min from the time I paid for it. I was very impressed with the overall experience. You have a customer for life!!"

"I sent them almost $1300.00 for a NEW Kenwood car radio and they sent me either a display model or a customer return. It had fingerprints all over it and the packaging was opened.

Is this the kind of company that Kenwood chooses as an authorized distributor of their products?
