"We had purchased an male Egyptian Mau at 11 weeks old. When he arrived at the airport he had a runny nose and was sneezing. We immediately took the kitten to our Veterinarian of which after the exam was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. The Vet bill was $216. A few days went by and the little kitten had difficulty breathing and only could breathe with his mouth open. We like most animal lovers took the kitten to the Animal Emergency Hospital where they took x-rays only to find out that he had mild grade pneumonia. Now the total cost $486. We contacted the breeder who not only questioned my integrity with to whom I took the kitten to but to why I decided to get x rays that were not necessary. I asked for them to help cover the bill and she only offered $118 because as she states "" I did not choose to have $195 xrays done but it was your decision" Yes it was my decision and the only way to know for sure if the kitten was healthy. And of course the x-rays revealed that he had mild grade pneumonia. I am really shocked and dismayed that we have been mislead that we would be receiving a health kitten when we had not. Not only did my Vet state that there is no way a kitten can get an upper respiratory infection on a 3 hour plane trip, we had another Vet state the same. Also the shipping cost of $275 which come to find out that the airlines told me they paid $95"
