"I guess we know why the company CHEFS is going out of business!! Although at the time I placed my order it was not on their website yet and I was not aware they were going out of business.
I placed two separate orders one on Dec 13th and one on Dec 18th, both guaranted delivery before Christmas.
I started calling when my items were not showing they had shipped more then a week after the order was placed. I was told that they were going to pay for overnight shipping and absorb the additional cost if they had to in order to make sure everyone received there orders in time for Christmas.
I called again on Dec 23rd (although it was hard to get thru, busy signal and long wait on hold). Was assured that the order would be shipped overnight delivery and I would have it for Christmas.
Well, Christmas came and went, no items arrived, their website was down for maintenance, the phone number was either non-stop busy signal or a recording staying they were closed. The contact by email on their website was unavailable!
It is now Dec 28th and it is only showing that a label has been created for my first order placed on Dec 13th for ground shipping and is estimated to arrive Jan 2, 2016! The second order placed on Dec 18th is just showing the items are in stock and reserved, but no shipping label has even been created yet!
Cannot even get thru on the phone! It's one thing to be going out of business and have problems but to have the people answering the phone blatantly lie outright to customers calling in and assuring them that they would have their items on time for Christmas, promising overnight delivery if needed and then days after Christmas creating a ground shipping label and messing up so many Christmas gifts is really LOW!!! I ordered over $100 worth of items before I knew they were going out of business, with guaranted delivery BEFORE Christmas. Really messed me up on SEVERAL gifts!
Really nice way to treat customers that have been loyal for all the years you were in business, I sincerely hope that Tim Littleton the owner is proud of himself!"
"I ordered 8 kitchen towels on Dec 1. Chefs created a shipping label on Thur, Dec 10 and delivered the towels to FedEx on Sat, 12. The delivery date was Fri, Dec 18; now it is Tue, Dec 22. The delay started when Chefs took 11 days to deliver the package to FedEx. If the package arrives on 12/22, it will be more than three weeks."
"i almost died when i saw this joke of a company sponsored on PBS. doesnt PBS vet their sponsors? they should be ashamed. The entire experience from trying to get info on their product to receiving it and having it labbeled differently than the webpage to getting no answers for weeks now at a time despite the helpful phone agents..their product "specialists" we are told are " a week behind" on their phone calls! and its more like a month here. long story too long to tell - forget these clowns!"
"This was the worst on-line shopping experience that I ever had. On 11/22/2014 I ordered a Kitchen Tool Crock with 19 Utensils. I received an order confirmation. Around 12/08/2014 I called customer service inquiring about the status. The online confirmation stated ordered - nothing about back ordered. The customer service rep informed that the set of bamboo utensils was back ordered and would arrive on 12/12/2014. The complete set would ship around 12/13 or 12/14. On 12/19/2014 I called customer service again and the rep told me that there were not 2 items on back order. I asked to speak with a supervisor. Stated one would call. I called a second time on 12/19/2014 and had to ask for someone to contact me - the online order form still states ordered nothing about back ordered. This rep tells me the back ordered items will be in in March and April 2015 and they would ship an incomplete set and give me a gift card to Chefs for the amount of the back ordered items. I asked why I did not receive an e-mail or phone call. She stated they were calling everyone who ordered this item from 11/29 on and they assumed that anyone who ordered before 11/29 would ASSUME the items was back ordered. I stated that I called earlier and was told the item would ship in a few days. It's now a few days before Christmas and I cancelled this order. Chefs failed to notify me of the back ordered item either by e-mail or phone. When I called they offered nothing and I will never order from this company again. Please take your business elsewhere customer service is nonexistent at this place."
"Worst customer service I've dealt with in a very long time. It's almost as if the customer service is non-existant.
Online I ordered a le creuset grillpan for my mother's 60th birthday. I never received an e-confirmation or tracking #, etc. I had to call to ask if it had shipped.
When it did arrive, the le Creuset box was destroyed and completely unacceptable for gifting. It looked like I took it out of a trash can or a sidewalk sale.
I phoned customer service immediately to get a replacement box shipped out to me ASAP, as her birthday party was two weeks later. I was told a replacement box could not be shipped out until my original item was returned and received by Chefs Catalog. I was then given the incorrect return shipping instructions, on THREE SEPARATE PHONE CALLS over the course of three days. Each time, I did as they said, and FedEx refused to pick up the package.
It was only on the fourth phone call that I was given the correct return instructions. The representative assured me that she would flag my file as urgent so that I would receive a new box before the birthday party.
I received the replacement product two weeks AFTER the birthday. I have since spoken with 2 representatives and written two complaint e-mails, and nobody has responded to my complaint.
I order almost all birthday and wedding presents online these days, and I've never had to return an item because of damaged packaging. With Chefs Catalog I have to do this twice? And with all the back and forth, it is two weeks past the event date I ordered it for. . .
I have invested way more time and experienced far more frustration than a customer should have to with what should be an easy transaction. I would have saved countless hours if I'd just gone to buy it at a department store."
"Excellent source for high quality cooking equipment. CHEFS is visually well displayed and my customer service representative, Debbie, was excellent. Avid cooks should enjoys CHEFS.

"Had a great customer service experience -- called their contact number, got a real person immediately, and fixed my shipping address (which was my mistake) immediately. Packaging was more than sufficient, delivery was fast. The only thing is their container was more than twice the size of the product, which was a bit of a waste."
"I bought a new rice cooker that I'd have thought unavailable at current prices here. Fuzzy logical rice for about a third of current retails.
Same day shipping and double boxed is just icing on the cake so to speak.
Swell deal on a great item AAA+++"
