"My first order from CME will be my last. I ordered from CME instead of Sweetwater because they are local but they shipped my order by snail mail to the suburbs which means who knows when or if it will arrive. Sweetwater charges the same prices and has better and more reliable service (about the same could be said for Walmart or Amazon). CME blew it. Putting the customer first is not their thing. Had I known they were so indifferent I would have gone elsewhere. To be more specific, on a Thursday morning I received an E-mail saying my order was shipped by snail mail and I was given a tracking number. Using snail mail was bad enough, as I noted, but then it was never turned over to the postal service that day. It wasn't until 30 hours later that it first appeared in the postal service so it was never shipped when I was told it was. When I posted about it they deleted as many posts as they could. They also told me they use snail mail for "small orders" (unlike other stores that do better for the same price) and they were arrogant and indifferent. There are more candid businesses that value customers and treat them with respect. This place is all about themselves. Shameful.

"Responding to a CME Reverb listing for a Gibson Parlor M, I offered CME's asking price less one of their their web page discount coupons. My offer was rejected. When I asked for an explanation, my offer was again rejected, no explanation offered. Once again, Sweetwater will get my business."
"I ordered a guitar case over the phone. Got a very nice rep, who offered a friendly discount. The case arrived in poor condition -- it had scuffs and scrapes and looked used. The cheap wrapping inside the shipping container was also ripped. I was shocked as it must have been packed by someone who did not care about quality control. So I called the rep back, and he was not as friendly this time. He cut me off when I tried to explain how poorly it was packed, and had no interest in hearing the names of who checked it and packed it ("CF" and "V" respectively, according to the signed packing slip). A good operation would be happy to listen to customer feedback, and want to correct mistakes to improve things for other customers. Suddenly their problem became my problem. Yes, they would send me a return label, but I would have to take it to a UPS facility. He didn't even know the number to call for a pickup. This thing came in a monster box the size of a small coffin, with more butcher paper than it took to wrap Luca Brasi when he slept with the fishes. So sending it back it has turned into a major pain and huge waste of time, the week before Christmas. I'm sorry to say that I won't be shopping with Chicago Music Exchange anymore as a result. "

Illinois, Cook County and Chicago Municipal. It really sucks the joy out of any deal you think you are getting on your purchase. Make sure you buy with a coupon code or during special deal offers or you could up paying a more here than online elsewhere on the back end."
