"Representing being Toshiba's "outlet", a computer was purchased. It was refurbished. A 2-year extended warranty was purchased and paid for. It happens that Toshiba NEVER received notification of the extended warranty, which expired in 90 days. It took 10 teelephone calls to have an answer from Compdirect.com; they said that when there is problem we should contact "Repair Master", not Toshiba, not Compdirect either! "
"If you read this WATCH OUT! These guys are professional scammers!
I did a terrible mistake to go to their shop on 417 5th avenue in New York.
I REALLY WANT TO WARN YOU ALL FOR THESE GUYS!!
I was going to buy a Canon 10D digital camera and looked around on internet for one. I find a place on internet that is called pcvideoonline.com. I looked at their website and I saw that they had the camera in stock, it was the only one I found in New York who had it in stock at the time. I e-mailed them to confirm that they had a Canon 10D in stock, and those lenses i wanted. I got an answer that they had the camera in stock, and that I should contact Ulf at the store when I arrived. I bought an airticket from Sweden to New York to buy the camera and the lenses.
When I came to the store I asked for Ulf. Ulf said that he was from Umeå in Sweden (today I don't think he was from Sweden, I think he said that to make me feel better and safer), and said that they had "the best price in the New York". I told Ulf that I was going to spend about 4500$ on camera and lenses. He show me the camera and the rest, then he asked for my creditcard. He didn't inform me anything else before he charged my creditcard, and then he charged me 5861$!! for a Camera with two lenses! 500$ was for a world wide warranty that I didn't want, but they charged me anyway. I showed them the printout from internet with their prices, but they said that it was not their homesite. After a lot of trouble they did credit 500$ for the lens I didnt get. what could I do, I did see the camera and stuff on the counter. After Ulf had charged my creditcard he took the camera away and told me that it was not my camera, my camera should come next day! So there I was, charged for more than 5000 $ and had no camera! The day after I got the camera and one lens. Then after much more trouble I got some memory card and some other stuff you can see on the link.
They charge me 1460$ too much and they didn't refund the money when i noticed it and remind them aboute it. I have send over 5 e-mail to them without answer.

I wanted to purchase a camcorder and did so from the shop, I believe I was mislead during the sales process and sold a model without the functions the salesman said it had and also charged above the market price for the model I got. Whilst on holiday in New York 2 weeks ago, my wife and I were passing their window and saw a nice Sony Camcorder for $ 250, we went in and were about to buy it, the salesman had rung in the sale, when he said that it was not a good camcorder, and that since we had a computer we should buy one which is compatable with a home pc and suggested we buy a samsung and proceded to outline its fnctionalities including being able to link to our computer.
The Camcorder which could be hooked up to our computer we were told was an extra $ 100 so it should of been $ 350. Thinking that it may have been a mistake on his part we agreed to buy the Camcorder which would be linked to my computer for $ 399. We were also pressurised into buying extras (spare battery, casettes, carry case, filter protector, wide angle lens etc) at steep prices. We were afraid that we were overcharged that we brought our purchases to another camera shop and they thought what we were charged seemed reasonable.
When I returned home, I checked the operating manual for our model, and realised that it couldn’t be linked to our computer, and the next model up was the one which was compatable with PC's. I surfed the internet, soon found out that the price we were charged was higher that that charged for the higher model, and we were overcharged in the region of $ 150. I have tried to fax the company to discuss this problem, but can't get through.
Any advice on how I can get this rectified would be appreciated.
My wife accompanied me and she distinctly remembers him informing that our model could be

"HOW DUMB YOU PEOPLE ARE???
I guess you all heard "What you pay is what you get". (If not I suggest you to stay away from the internet until you learn the basics in the real life) Why do you all act surprised when you expect to pay low price on a product and get it brand new??? Yes, they are scammers, but they take an advantage of dumb people like you who are really cheap and want to get the best deals at lowest prices possible without even thinking that there is a catch. How dumb do you think these people are to sell products at huge discounts? They buy these cameras or computers in large quantities from a manufacturer about 10-25% below retail cost.
You can still find good deals on the internet, but if you see something that’s more then $150 off retail then you should avoid this place or expect being pressured to buy additional accessories or getting refurbished. Another option is ebay.com, but even there it’s still risky to buy something expensive and get a lemon.
Btw, I was scammed by compdirect too, but after realizing that I was scammed I found a way to trick them back. :-)

"This operation is nothing but a huge SCAM. They sell refurbished inferior used goods but will often lie and say they are new or "Class A refurbished", which they claim are brand new and have just been bought back from a retailer.
They will try and get you to give them your credit card number before you even place your order. After they get your credit card number they will attempt to sell you a bunch of overpriced accessories to go with your purchase. For instance if you are buying a digital camera they will try to sell you a "battery pack" at an outrageous price that is often nothing more than 4 cheap rechargeable batteries and a charger that you could buy for less than $10.
If you don't buy any of the accessories they may tell you the item you originally tried to purchase is out of stock since it was more than likely advertised really cheap. When calculating your bill they will add on outrageous shipping and "insurance" fees, don't be surprised if they charge you $50+ to ship and "insure" a digital camera..
When the product arrives you will discover that it's refurbished and used and often times has scratches on it. If you call and try to return it and ask for a certain person the use excuses like "he's in the bathroom right now" etc...
Bottom line if avoid this place like the plague, the guys name that ripped me off is Jeff. Jeff is very very lucky that I don't live in New York. Jeff is nothing but a rip-off con artist lying piece of crap!
The real name of this scam operation is:
Barnetts Computer Warehouse
417 5th Ave
New York NY 10016
They also go by several other names, buyer beware!
THIS IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM OPERATION!"
"Never never buy any stuff from this company!!!! They are cheaters. Here is my terrible experience: I found a very nice price offered by this company on www. Pricescan.com for a JVC camcorder: $499. My searching criteria was ?new product? when this price popped up, so I assumed they are selling brand new camcorder for an unbelievably low price. Then I called them to check if it was really a brand new product and the guy said it was. I called the sale rep called Mike, he intentionally talked very fast and trying to have me buy all kinds of accessories with inflated price. I had to yell at him to stop him talking. I had a bad feeling about the deal but still want the low price, so I went through the whole process and asked him again if it was a brand new one. He said yes and read me something about the product very fast that I could not fully understand. When I asked him for an e-mail that contains all the details of this deal, he said their e-mail server was down. At the end, the total I was charged was $773.
When I opened the box they shipped to me, it said REFURBISHED!!!! I called them and asked for an e-mail about that deal, the customer service said that they never send e-mail to custom to confirm a sale. The Mike guy lied to me. When I was transferred to this Mike guy, he said it is brand new based on his definition, because it is a ?class A? refurbished that nobody had very used it before. He tried to push me to open the box to use it since he grantee it is of good quality blah, blah. I was so irritated and started yelling at him. Then he said if I want, I can ship it back. I told him I am not going to pay them a dime for the so called ?restocking? fee or anything, since they cheated on me. Then he hung up on me and I was transferred to their manager- a guy called Tony, he said I can get all my money back. I am still not sure if they will fully refund me or not.
I seriously think it was business fraud. They intentionally avoid putting refurbished tag on the products. I printed out the webpages of pricescan and their own page that have the JVC camcorder on. I am going to file a complaint to BBB. They are not going to get away that easily.
