"This was the worst online purchase experience I have ever had. I made contact with Connect Computers via the price watch web site. I called and ordered the AMD 1900 computer system special I saw on price watch and made a couple of upgrade to the system. My system arrived minus 256MB of ram. Basiclly, I was told that what recieved was what I ordered. After contacting the company president and American Express I did finally get the additional ram three weeks later. However I have discovered a problem with one of the USB ports, the port does not function and I am hesitant to have them fix it for me.
Another note of interest, since my purchase I have not seen Connect Computers listed as one of the vendors on the Price Watch web site."
"I ordered a 1.4 Ghz AMD Athlon from Connect Computers last summer, and I had few problems. First, it took them a while to send the package out. Once i opened up the box and attempted to start the computer, it just made a beep-beep sound, and I had no clue what was going on. I called up Connect Computers and left a message on the technician's voice mail, and didn't recieve a response. I called again the next day, and Sam the Technician had me open up the computer and check to make sure everything was in place. It was, and I had it shipped back. On August 10th, I still hadn't recieved word from Connect Computers, and I called asking where my computer was. They FINALLY gave me a tracking #, and I recieved my computer with no problems, and it had Windows ME instead of 98, so I was happier.
Note, 8/5/02: VERY, VERY hard to install new cards, wasn't even lined up right or anything, all the cords internally are ALL OVER. Don't mess with these guys, took me 20 minutes just to move all the stuff out of the way to install a new video card."
"Ordered a complete system for a customer. When customer moved the case, the keyboard connector broke. When I informed Connect Computers about this, they immediately sent a new keyboard at no charge. I have purchased two other systems and have been satisfied with each purchase."
"Our Company, in recent months, has purchased a number of complete systems from Connect Computers. Our experience has been really good. We have beed very pleased with the products that we have received and at the price at which they sell them. We have made all of our orders over the phone and the Sales Reps have been very good at seeing that they get us a good deal and that the product is shipped on a timely basis. One thing that you will encounter in dealing with them is the lack of an ability to track the shipment online. If you can get passed that fact we see no reason not to purchase from Connect Computers. "
"I have had nothing but trouble with my last purchase. Ordered a pair of 32mb simms and a 256mb dimm. During POST, I got an "unstable memory" error (simms). A phone call generated an RMA. After returning the memory and waiting a couple weeks, I decided to call. Nobody spoke English very well, but they were able to tell me that they received my package and a replacement would go out today. Two weeks later I called again. An Eglish speaking female answered and told me it would go out today. I told her it supposedly went out weeks ago, but she could find no record of it. By now I had to buy memory locally for a customer who needed his machine right away. I called one more time and tried asking for a single cheaper dimm in exchange instead of the simms, but was told they would be "ripping me off". I explained that by now I no longer had a use for older style simms and would prefer to at least get a 128mb dimm out of this, write off the loss and move on. Again I was told it would go out that day. They have a section on their web page for RMAs, but it appears they never look at it. I have dealt with dozens of retailers online, but have never experienced problems like this. Just last month I was having problems with a machine I was putting together with the 256mb dimm I purchased from them. My Athlon 1400 would not boot into windows. I could not run the FSB any higher than 113mHz. It turns out my memory stick was PC100, not PC133 as I was sold. Someone placed a PC133 sticker over the PC100. "
