"I bought a couple of items on September 12th, 2007. I was billed for both items and charged before BOTH items were shipped. I received my first item on September 17th, 2007. The second was missing in action. I proceeded to call Cost Central about my missing item. A lady named Mary told me that it was back ordered and then she said it had been sent out on September 14th. I asked her for a tracking number and she did not have one available. She said the tracking number would be emailed soon.
My beef with this transaction is they billed me for BOTH items but did not send them at the same time. Also their invoice system reflected only one item sent after I was billed for BOTH. The CSR (customer service rep.) also told me that it had been back ordered before giving me more details about it being then shipped after the fact. I looked on their website and verified they had this item in stock (quantity: 255).
I understand if the items were being shipped from different locations but send me TWO tracking numbers please! I am not going to waste my hard earned money on businesses that do not play by the book! Big waste of time if you ask me and I could’ve gone to another online retailer and got what I paid for the first time!
By the way, their packaging is very poor!
UPDATE 9-20-07
I contacted another CSR on 9-18-07 about not receiving a tracking number for the missing item. A rep named Shawn tried to help me out by waiving the shipping costs but he also said the item was in a warehouse waiting to be released. He told me the item would be shipped that day and a tracking number would be provided.
Well, I didn’t receive the tracking number again! So, I called them back on 9-19-07 and spoke with 3 different reps about the issue. At that point, I decided to cancel the missing order. They accepted my request and now I am currently waiting for a refund.
The customer service is not bad and they seemed to care about the issue. But, I had to nag them several times to get a straight answer.

Bought a laptop. There was a little runaround with it being on backorder despite the fact it said there were 12 in stock when I ordered. They kept asking by email if I wanted to keep the order, I replied yes, then the next day they sent another email saying I never responded and do I want to keep my order? Eventually it came, and there was no padding between the laptop box and shipping box. Lo and behold, when I get it out and start playing with the settings and get it going, I get tons of BSODs and random shutdowns. I think it was bounced around in shipping. I email them for a return, which they said they would provide within 48 hours. Never came. I email again, no response at all this time. I contested the charge with my credit card company. That day a nervous customer service person called to say they were sending it out soon, and the email came the next day. I sent it back and luckily the credit processed fine.
Never dealing with this place again. I posted this story at notebookreview.com."
"They had the lowest price around on Epson Ink cartridges. They shipped on time and and the items received were just as ordered.
My only wish is that they would use UPS instead of Fedex for ground shipments. From where they shipped, UPS would have delivered the next day. Fedex on the other hand took 3 days. I'm sure for some customers though it would be reversed.
In any case. I am very satisfied and will order from them again."
"Bottom line: AWFUL.
I ordered a Q6600 CPU on Monday, July 30. At the time I placed the order, the CPU was listed as "in stock." (22 units...)
On Wednesday, the CPU had not yet shipped. I called customer service (at least they answered the phone.) I was assured that a CPU had been placed "on hold" for me and that it would ship on Aug 2nd "at the latest". The shipping delay was attributed to "processing." I was told by the representative that "processing" can take up to 24 BUSINESS HOURS (that's 3 normal HUMAN DAYS in case you're wondering).
Today, Aug 2nd, I received an email stating the following:
"The part you are attempting to purchase was out of stock at the time you placed the order. The item can be placed on ‘backorder’ for you."
With customer service like this, how does this company stay in business?
Parts that I orderd from Newegg.com on the same day as I placed this order from CostCentral.com are already in my house (via standard shipping, at that!). Instead of trying to save $20 by ordering from an unreliable merchant, I should have ordered the CPU from Newegg.com in the first place ... ( I have now!)."

"My only complaint is that they wanted a copy of both my license and front/back of my credit card used to place an internet order for Thinkpad X61 Tablet PC, which in their defense was the lowest priced I could find. They cited internet fraud as the reason (OK, I can buy that) however both the billing address and shipping address were the same. The only thing that might have given them concern, as I found in another review, was that I used my cell phone as my telephone number. This is the only number of record I have had for the last 5 years and use it for work (self-employed) and personal matters.
I have never had any merchant make this kind of requirement before. There is no way I would provide anyone sight unseen a copy of my license. Anyone who could be talked into that will almost certainly find himself or herself a victim of identity theft at some point in the near future. Any information or assurances Costcentral required could have been gotten from my credit card company with an email or telephone, rather than hassling me. Currently I am studying to take a bar exam in 5 days, but I was so irritated that stopped studying, reshopped, and found the same computer for $20 less than Costcentral (shipping included) at www.techonweb.com, and wrote this review. I cancelled my order and will not be doing business with Costcentral again.
