"Hello,
Like many people I purchased Cyberlink software and have for years with no problems until today.
I purchased software from them and asked about any new versions coming out and was told none. So I purchased software and now just over 2 months and they release a new version.
I wrote them and asked about getting a free update since it is so close to when i purchased from them and my years of support. Well today I got my response and they say I have to buy new version even thou I had just paid for previous version but they have upgrade pricing.
Well for me I am now done with Cyberlink and will not buy from them again and i don't recommend them. Other companies have better service and policies when a person has just got the version within a year. So for me I am sticking to other brand from now on.
There are many products which are just as good or better and with way better support and policies than Cyberlink.

"I purchased the PowerDirector 13 Ultra and discovered that only a couple weeks after that they released version 14. I had even talked to a representative before purchasing, and they never indicated that a new version was about to be released! I contacted them to find out about getting an upgrade to version 14 and was told that I would have to pay an additional 50% of the current full retail price! That almost totals more than I purchased for the product (it was on sale)! Unlike many other software companies, Cyberlink will not upgrade purchases of previous versions made right before the release of the new version. I won't be supporting this greedy company again."
"The Cyberlink Power Director System that I purchased worked fairly well until I updated my computer to Windows 10. Then, it suddenly decided to play dead. After numerous emails, their "technical support" people, were finally able to comprehend my explanation of the problem; clicking the import button crashes the program. At that point, they used their experience and expertise to outline a comprehensive, step by step procedure that would resolve the problem, "clear your computer's cache." Realizing that the battle had been lost, I responded to their survey that asked, 'how happy are you with our service?' by giving them the lowest rating allowed. Then, I uninstalled Cyberlink and unsubscribed from their newsletter. A few weeks later, they sent me a very informative email which stated that the version of Cyberlink I was using, might not be compatible with Windows 10. If this was the case, I should go online before the sale ends and order, at a ridiculously low price, the new and improved.... Really? Re-buy a product I already own? And, what happens when my computer's next update renders that version obsolete? Will I have to shell out even more money? I'm a high school graduate, so I didn't have to dwell on this for very long. Becoming entangled in that recurring nightmare was definitely not in my future. Especially since all the other apps on my computer have conformed quite nicely to Windows 10. AND, AT NO COST! If the procedure of adapting Cyberlink to a newer browser is too complicated for their IT people, I'm guessing the whole product is pretty damn chintzy. "
"I had a problem with installing Media Suite 10 (it took nearly 10 hours), then I could NOT find a way to simply play a DVD!! The tutorials didn't work, and there was no way to intuit the procedure. After sending a report to Cyberlink, I received a response that was so ludicrous, I can only repeat my reply here: "First, you ask me to take a "screenshot" of a screen that I'm NOT getting (That's why I sent you the original message). I'm NOT getting any screens with any indications of ability to playback a DVD. Also, you've included a procedure to record a "screenshot" that contains misspellings, AND the procedure, itself, for taking a "screenshot" is incorrect. Furthermore, instead of just telling me how to get the Media Suite I purchased to play a DVD, you've told me to go through this utterly ridiculous procedure to get some data to send to you. You've already got enough info to help me, but you add to my frustration by directing me to do all the data searching that YOU should do! One more thing: It took nearly 10 HOURS to install this Media Suite!!! I felt that this was a clue that the original installation was corrupted somehow, so I deleted it, and I tried it again. It took only two HOURS the second time. I'm really not happy with this piece of crap!!! "
"Customer Service:
Here are some general comments about the Cyberlink web site, paying for and obtaining the products, and the general business model. I will do this by recounting my experience bying "PowerDVD 11". I purchased a 3-disc set on Blu Ray. I tried to play a disc but found I had no program that could play blu ray. I ended up on the Cyberlink web site. I was bombarded with "buy", "buy", "buy". I downloaded and installed the trial. Wow! I was really impressed.
I purchased the program and clicked on the download link. At 35%, I got a server error. I tried to resume the download but to no avail. The download reset to zero and was restarted. Sure enough, at 35% I got another server error and the download restarted. I canceled the download and closed Internet Explorer. I then loaded Firefox, which has a good download manager "Download Them All". I started the download and received several server errors. But now, when I resumed the download, it didn't reset. The download finally finished.
I started the installation of "PowerDVD11Ultrav2024.exe". It appeared to be installing ok, but then I received this message "You do not have the required version of the program installed on your system. The installation will abort". I thought maybe I had a bad download. So I tried to re-download the program but I kept getting server errors (Digital River). I can't download the program now because I'm told That I've already downloaded it 25 times (apparently, every server error counts as a download). But hey! Cyberlink has a solution for this: When you order the product, you can also order "Extended Download" for $6.98. This allows you to download the program as many times as you wish for 2 YEARS. Oddly, I've never seen this item on any other web site. Could it be that server errors are intentional -- with collusion between the two companies? No, I'm sure it's just a coinsidence. However, it is true that you could pay for your program and not be able to download it. Of course, you could always go back to Cyberlink.com and pay the $6.98.
After finishing this note, I'm inclined to post it on "Reselleratings.com". This way, many shoppers will learn how Not to do business. Although "PowerDVD" is probably the best blu ray player, there are alternatives. Check out Corel's "WinDVD".

"the product I downloaded, PowerDVD SE for Windows XP (Download version) did not provide a video. I tried two dvd movies that worked on another program.
The $14.95 was a waste of money. Nevertheless, the company did refund the $14.95 so all was not with regret."
