"One of the worst (if not the worst)e-commerce experiences I have ever had!
I have been looking for a Crystal Vision wide angle lens for my Sony-VX2000 for quite some time, so I went to ebay to look for one.
I found the lens on ebay (displayed in the picture -- see ebay item #2942862899) posted by DigitalForu (an ebay store). I placed a bid, and won the item. I immediately paid for it through paypal using the "pay for it now" option. Everything up to this point went smoothly.
Now comes the bad! At the end of the day (8/1) I emailed DigitalForu to see if my item had shipped yet. I get the following e-mail reply back from someone named Karen:
"It has been shipped via fedex ground "
Great! But what about a tracking number? Thus, I e-mailed her back (on 8/4) and asked her for the tracking number. On (8/5) Karen responded with the following e-mail:
"Give us a call for the tracking number"
So, I did. I called their 800 number and let it ring 19 times, and no answer. I called again thinking that I had mis-dialed and it rang 15 times, and then someone answered the phone, "Yeh?"
"Is this DigitalForu?," I asked. "Yeh," was the response. "I was told to call you to get my tracking number," I said. "Call back at 3:00pm," was the response. "Why," I asked--at this point the guy on the line in an irritated voice said, "I'll give you your tracking number at 3:00pm--its our policy" I then told him that I found this a strange policy because my lens supposively shipped out last week. He gave me a line that most eBay sellers don't provide tracking numbers, and I told him this was my first experience where the seller gave me a hard time--he sounded suprised. I asked him if he could e-mail me my tracking number, and he said that their policy is not to send out tracking numbers for 'security' reasons. I told him that I found this ridiculous, and he became aggitated and rude, and hung up on me.
Afterwards, I went to eBay and posted the following feedback:
"Reqst trk# by email-told to call. Calld & sellr refused to give & rude & hung up"
The seller's response was:
"our computer were down and hes was somply told to call us back !!"
That's funny--the guy never mentioned to me that the computers were down. I would have been fine if that were the case.
Anyway, 5 minutes later I get a call on what appeared to be a local NY number (or a cell phone)from the same guy (practically yelling) asking me why I posted negative feedback. I explained that I didn't like the way he was refusing to give me the number, his tone of voice, or the fact that he hung up on me. He then told me to go f@$!-myself and that he was going to recall my package (that supposively shipped) and started using abusive language, so I hung up on him.
No more than 3 minutes later I get a call from a guy identifying himself as the owner (who mysteriously sounded like the same guy I just hung up on) and he asked me why I posted negative feedback. I told him what happened, and told him that I didn't appreciate his associate calling and telling me to f*#! myself. He responded by saying he would investigate the audio tapes--Funny--seeing how this guy called me and that FCC regulations state that if a phone conversation is to be recorded that the party on the other line must be given prior notice (which was not specified on the 800 number I called).
Anyway, the owner told me the package was on the way. When I asked for the tracking number he claimed that the FedEx computer system was down.
On 8/7 I emailed Karen and asked if she could get approval to send me my tracking number--never got a response.
When the package finally came, it was a cheap knockoff of the Crystal Vison lens (i.e. Digital optics - medium-high distortion lens) which I could have gotten for about $50 less than what I paid for through eBay.
I will never buy from these guys again! I am suprised that so many people find DigitalForu a good eBay store. However, I wouldn't put it passed them on seeding their own positive reviews on eBay. In the past 6 months that have had 70+ bad review. Beware!
