"Absolute worst experience ever — I bought a new charger off them that broke after 6 months. I contacted them for a refund….after ignoring 4 of my emails, I finally got through to them — they asked me to ship back my faulty unit for a refund. I shipped back the unit and never got refunded — so now I don’t have my product, nor my money. I think that’s considered theft. I am reporting them to the consumer board. "

"I purchased a Viper remote iPhone enabled SmartStart starter/security system for my wife's Lexus IS250 as a Christmas gift. I seldom works and after contacting Directed Electronics I was told they put a cheap CPU in the unit and it cannot communicate with the iPhone app as it was intended to do. This system DOES NOT WORK but THEY ARE STILL SELLING IT saying it does work. BEWARE! THIS IS A SCAM! It does not work and it is a waste of your money. Directed...SHAME ON YOU!
Update, they finally worked all the bugs out of this thing and it works flawlessly now. Apparently it was not ready for prime time when I bough it."
"This is one of the worst companies out there. I have a Clifford car alarm which I bought with a lifetime warranty. When it malfunctioned, I contacted Directed, INC, who owns Clifford, and was told that they purchased Clifford, but not Clifford's liabilities so they will not honor the warranty.
This seems very slimy and swarmy to me. Directed should stand behind their products and honor the warranty instead of shirking responsibility. I have all my written documentation stating that I have a lifetime warranty and now the company will not honor it?
On Directed's own website, they advertise that my model car alarm comes with a lifetime warranty. And when Directed purchased Clifford, they obtained the Clifford customer base, yet Directed blatently refused to provide any service to this customer base, including not honoring their own written warranties. I believe what they are doing is not even legal because a business cannot simply change ownership for the sake of avoiding providing their customers with warranties.
Avoid this company at all costs. I would never encourage anyone to buy a car alarm from this company. This includes Clifford, Viper, Hornet, Python, Avital and more. Shame on Directed. "
