"Went to order the Canon Digital Rebel and they tole me it was in stock and would be shipped that dar to the following day. Called back a week later and said that it was just shipped and would be gettinga UPS tracking number. 3 weeks after the order still no camera and I have already been charged for it. Contacted them today (Dec 15) and was told that I would not receive it until Jan 15. Great! A frickin' month and a half later! Any guesses if I will get the same story Jan 15? So 2 lies and now told a hard date. Don't waste your time on this company (Express Cameras)."
"I have been to their website and it is under construction, I have tried to call them and their number is disconnected. I would like to get their phone number to speak to them about the product they sold me on 05/15/2001. They sold me an insurance policy to do an upgrade on the Olympus 3.3 C-3030 camera, I would like to take advantage of that upgrade through this policy. Can you help me in contacting a representative from Discovery Cameras and Electronics.
Thank you,

"This company has resurfaced as Barnabeez Cameras and Electronics. I ordered a camera lense from them on 10/27. They e-mailed me the next day, asking me to call them and confirm the order. I was told that I had to order the lense with a "package" of other equipment that I did not want. We finally agreed to add two acessories that ran the price up from $798 to $913. They said I would receive it in seven to eight days. I called them on 11/5 to find out why I hadn't received it. Was told that it was shipped out on the forth from New Hampshir and I should receive it in 7-8 days. I then discovered this web site and reveiwed their history. I immediatly cancelled the order and called my credit card company to cancell payment/contest any charges they had made. Have reordered this item through B&H and am certain that I will have it in my hands in 2 days (previous experience).
this is follow up on this company: in spite of cancellation the package with my ordered lense arrived 15 days after order and 8 days after cancellation.
there was no return adress on the package and none inside. there was no company name, or any information needed to contact them on the invoice. The $90 lense filter I was forced to buy was the wrong size and could be purchases for $24 or less locally. I got their fax number through telephone information but they have not responded to my fax reqesting a return number. they have not responded to multiple e-mails to their "support" adress. This outfit probably exists only as a few phones in a closet somewhere in brooklyn. they have no merchandice and would themselves be stuck if they had to accept return products. I am shure that their relationship with their suppliers is as bad as it is with their customers."
"Any ratings below zero to this dealer are absolutely fraudulent.
I was going on vacation (Scotland rules by the way) and wanted to get a new camera to take with me. I was leaving in a week and a half, but I saw no reason why 2nd day air wouldn't make it to my place in time.
I ordered a single Toshiba camera from them. When it didn't arrive a week later, I called them.... several times. You see, I also had the pleasure of dealing with their wonderful (and I'm sure intentional) phone system that hangs up on people repeatedly. I called 4 times before I actually talked to anyone that would guarantee that they would ship me anything. He told me that he would personally take care of my purchase and it would be out that afternoon. That was day one.
Day two, I called back and tried to see if they had indeed shipped my camera. After getting put on hold and subsequently hung up on three times, I finally talked to someone that said that he would check. But then the phone hung up again. I called back again and got someone else who I told not to put me on hold. They checked and sadi taht my order hadn't been shipped yet. So I told him I wanted to cancel the order. Guess what? That involved a transfer to another person. But before they got on the line, another hang up. Are you seeing a pattern here? I finally got on the phone, cussed him out (hey, I spent enough time on the phone, I deserved it), and told him to cancel my order.
I will say that I was able to get my camera THE DAY WE WERE LEAVING. I ordered the same morning I called Discovery to cancel, and received it THE VERY NEXT DAY. I called TheNerds.net and asked them whether or not it was possible to get it out that day yet, and they said they could. It did cost me something like $50 more, but at least I got it for my trip. After all that, I broke my camera a week in and had to buy a different one in Edinburgh.
DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!!"
"HERE ARE SOME PROBLEMS I ENCOUNTERED:
1) Sent me incompatible or defective C-Flashes. These are supposedly High-Speed-Error-Free, $199 ea.
2) The Minolta Macro-ring flash I have never received but they already charged me (isn't this illegal practice?). Repeated told me it's shipped but NO UPS tracking #.
3) The Ultra Wide Angle Lens caused vignetting so bad that it could not be used with the cameras. After calling back to RMA, apparently they knew about this problem but sold it to me anyway.
4) DISHONEST CAMERAS never did send me an itemized invoice indicating how much each item costs (I called and requested for this numerous times). You know why they would do this? This is so when they have to credit back (that is if they do credit you back) they can credit whatever price they want and not what you were charged. I am having to fight this w/ them right now with the help of my credit card company.
5) The NiMH battery they shipped me was different then what was shown on their website. I would not be surprise if they sent me some other cheaper brand!
6) There maybe a valid reason for selling me bad or incompatible products. Even I tried remaining patient through all this, the DISCOVERY CAMERAS People here were SO RUDE and SO UNPROFESSIONAL. There's no reason for RUDENESS and UNPROFESSIONALISM! I called back about 20 times in the last 3-4 weeks and spoke to almost all of DISCOVERY CAMERAS personnels (Joe Larsen, Brian Peterson (supposedly a Manager--no manager skill though, Marie Hebrans, Chris, Stephanie, Tommy, etc...). All I have got are false promises, Transferred my calls around from person to person but no-one could do anything to straighten out the problem. They either hung up on me or placed me on hold for so long that I had to hang up myself. Through all that, I still have not gotten one answer from any of them. Basically, they're OK when taking your order. But if there's a problem/return, forget about it. Once they've got your money, you're up-creek without and paddle.
7) I am currently having to go through my credit card company to dispute the charges.
8) I also have had to file a complaint w/ the Better Business Bureau of Northern NJ in hope of getting my money back.
Unfortunately, I found these facts too late. According to the Better Business Bureau of Northern NJ, They also have done business using other names PHOTO KING and BEST-DISCO-CAM. Hmm, I wonder why that is? STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!!!
If you have ordered from them and gotten all your stuff. Considered yourself lucky and that you flirted w/ trouble. If you have not buy from them, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM DISCOVERY CAMERAS/BEST-DISCO-CAM/PHOTO KING!
*********** FINAL RESULT ************
After 3+ months of phone calls to Disco-Cam and my credit cards company, I finally got most of my money back. There was still $139 remaining which took forever for be credited. I called them 5-7 times since Jan/2002 about this $139 credit but they keep telling me that it's being processed... process my *SS. So, I finally gave in and accept a Nikon flash which I did not really need but can be used w/ my Nikon camera. And of course after another 3-4 weeks of lying about it's been shipped, I finally got the flash couple days ago. The flash came w/ a copied manual and I would not be surprise if it was refurbished. But what-a-hell, I did not want to waste any more time w/ these guys.
During all this, 'DISCO-SCAM' has the nerve to ask me to take back all my reviews about them. I told them that I will think about it after I get my credit back. Well, now I have gotten all my money and thought about it... Naaaahhhhh, the review stays.
WARNING, BEWARE, WATCHOUT,Approach w/ CAUTION....
- I think DISCOVERY CAMERAS is in process of changing their names again. Their phone and answering systems has already been changed which does not tell you their business name when you call in. In addition, the last package I received stated that they're called DIGITAL IMAGING.
Beware of this name--DIGITAL IMAGING and those mentioned above. It is either their new name or an affiliate.
This is my first and my last time buying from DISCO-CAM.
~~~~~ DOUBLE WHAMMY--The BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU of NJ ~~~~~
During all this, I found out the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU of NJ are crooked too. In Jan 2002, I sent a complaint form of Disco-Cam along w/ a $9 check for processing fee to the BBB. A week later, the BBB sent me a letter saying that they do not process these kinds of complaints but cashed my check anyway. I called them up about this but they won't refund my money. They told me to call Consumer Complaint or Attorney General office on NJ which may require another fee. This is a great example of goverment at work for your tax dollars!
