"I purchased two HomeSitter Temperature, Water, and Power Alarm (HS-700) for what seemed like a reasonable price, and I do admit that they came very quickly. But then I realized that they would not work in my house without a landline and this was never advertised anywhere in the product description! I tried to return them and that is where the trouble started.
First DIY Controls did not want them returned unless I bought something else. Then they delayed sending me the RMA number until after I asked via email 3 times. Their return requirements were so very stringent regarding packaging, labeling, etc that I felt like they were setting me up to fail, but I followed them perfectly since the products had never been opened.
Although their policy said returns would be processed in two weeks, after 4 weeks I still had not had the credit so I had to write again. Only then did they reluctantly give me the credit, but it was $15 short! So, I had to write yet another time.
This time the excuse was that they deducted $15 shipping charge, except that there was no shipping charge for my purchase, only the product charge. And it only cost me $8.30 to return them.
Finally, I disputed the $15 charge with my credit card company and that solved the problem.
I would not recommend purchasing anything from this company! The products may be ok and competitively priced, but the time, energy, anger, frustration and sheer unfriendliness of dealing with them make them not a professional or ethical company to support."
