"I have purchased 3 gypsy guitars from Michael Horowitz, two Favino's and one Dupont, and plan to buy a fourth (a Busato) this week. I have more than 25 guitars and have been a player and collector for 30 years. Michael has always been fair, honest, incredibly generous with his time and expertise, and is beyond knowledgable about Gypsy Jazz - I believe he got a Fullbright Scholarship to study this music form and spent a year in Europe doing so.
He is friendly, answers his own phone whenever I call (how many world experts are that accessible?), knows or knows about everyone in this business, and was able to sell one of the expensive guitars that I bought years ago from him to another buyer in a matter of a few months at a fair price. He is an incredible resource on this genre and we are lucky to have him in the US.
I am aware of one antisocial individual who has disparaged Michael on the internet after Michael refused to sell mislabeled/fraudulent guitars on his behalf - please ignore that person's reviews. Michael is the real deal, presents the truth about the instruments, and my friends-vintage guitar dealers speak highly of him as well.
I visited the premier gypsy guitar store in Paris - honestly, Michaels selection dwarfs that store and his expertise allows him to help you find an instrument suited to your needs and taste and budget.
Can't say enough about the guy. Happy shopping!
