"I am a student of the biological sciences and came across what appeared to be a highly-rated set of anatomy and physiology lectures known as the "Dr. Najeeb Lectures." Having never heard of this person or company before, I did a cursory Google search and found what appeared to be legitimate reviews about the content on the site. At the time, they claimed to be offering "95% off" $199 with a resulting cost of $5 - yes, I know 95% of $199 is closer to $10. With the appearance of legitimacy, I put in my Amex number and after a 10 second wait, saw that it was declined. I have had this happen before with some online purchases, so I didn't think anything of it. I simply used my VISA. Within a minute, I had a text alert on my phone indicating that this company had attempted to charge $199 on my Amex, which was declined, and had successfully charged $49. They obviously have a system in place that attempts to charge a lesser amount if the first one is declined knowing that the fraud threshold is often set for $50 or above. I immediately contacted the company, who sent a long-winded email about how there was an asterisk on the $5 charge and that I wasn't the first person to miss this fine print and that if I just waited 30 days they would refund the full amount and still give access to the lectures. Again, this "wait 30 days and then we'll refund you" approach is likely aimed at the fact that after 30 days not all card companies will entertain a reversal of fraudulent charges. I declined and demanded the monies be refunded. They responded respectfully and said I would see the refund "within 48-72 hours". Now, 9 days after I received that email, I have no such refund and I am left to address the matter with VISA. Save yourself the hassle and frustration - stay away from this fraudulent company."
